No Control

The next day I’m working at the stadium and I step outside to get some fresh air. I immediately see that Liam is working out with Mark outside. I lean against the railing to watch him. I’m not sure how long I’m there admiring the view when I hear a noise beside me. I am startled to find Caroline standing beside me. “Oh hi Caroline.” I say trying to sound normal.
“Hi Liz. I see you were enjoying the view.” She winks at me and leans her head towards where Liam is working out.
I try not to stutter as I say. “No, no I was just getting some fresh air.”
I can tell by the way Caroline is smiling at me that she doesn’t buy it.
“So you two are just friends?” She asks me.
“Yes.” I tell her. But she isn’t believing me.
She leans in closer to me and says quietly. “Just so you know, I have the hotel room next to yours.”
Oh crap! I can feel the color drain from my face as the realization hits me. The several times I screamed his name last night.
Before I can say a word she says. “Uh huh.” With a grin.
“Look Caroline, it’s not what you think.” I try to explain.
“Liz, you are my friend. If this is a secret then I will happily keep that secret for you. Don’t stress love, I was just teasing you.”
I smile. “Thanks Caroline. You’re the best.”
She smiles. “Now take a few more minutes to enjoy the view before getting back to work.”
I smile as she walks away and then return to enjoy the view. Liam takes a break to get some water and he looks over at me. He smiles and waves me over. I start my way over to him and he meets me halfway.
“Hey Beautiful, what ya doing?” Liam asks.
“Well I was watching you work out, till Caroline caught me and told me that she has the hotel room next to mine.” I give him a minute for it to sink in.
His eyebrows raise. “You mean she heard you last night?” Then he starts laughing.
I push on his sweaty chest. “Don’t laugh.”
He moves in close to me. “Come on babe, thats pretty funny.”
I can’t help it, I start laughing. “It’s all your fault Payne!”
Liam laughs. “Yes, I will take complete responsibility for your yelling.” He winks at me.
I grin and roll my eyes at him. “I’m going back to work Liam.”
