Just You and Me

Where have you been?

-Isabelle's POV-

I have slight difficulty opening my eyes this morning; they're all red and puffy. I woke up early though, so I still have an extra half an hour.

Before I have time to decide what I'm going to do, my mother walks in, her heels clicking rhythmically on the hardwood planks. I get a waft of her typical Chanel no.5 perfume as she swiftly strides over to sit on my bed.

"Good morning, honey," she says.

"Morning," I reply groggily.

"I've made you some bacon and eggs, they're on the counter downstairs. I've got to head to work a little early. I'll see you tonight, please be home by 6:00 for dinner."

"I will, mom."

She gives me a quick kiss on the forehead before leaving.

What should I do this morning? I have a sudden urge to go for a run. I'm not exactly the exercising type. I'm not overweight at all, but I'm definitely not super skinny. I'm right in the middle. A little curvy, I guess you could say. But I do love to run on occasion.

I slip on my workout clothes before walking outside. I try to run on the beach, but after two minutes of that proving very difficult, I switch over through a little path and stick to the sidewalk.

As I'm jogging along, my head starts to clear. All of the memories of Addie slip my mind for a little while. All of the stuff with Hary gets washed away like the ocean's waves. All of my homework disappeared like the birds flying South. All of my worries melted into the early morning sunrise.

Out of breath, I finally arrive home. That sure put a jumpstart on my day.

Knowing I need to get ready, I stretch before having a quick shower. I briefly style my hair in a loose side braid, get dressed and put on minimal makeup. I feel confident today.

I head downstairs and wolf down two eggs and more bacon than I should have. Oh well, I think to myself. I did just go for a run.

I catch a ride with Harry to school. We have a light conversation on the way there, the breaks in the conversation leaving me time to prepare for my day.

He parks his car in one of the last parking spots. It's already 8:15, we're lucky to get a spot so late. They go pretty quickly.

Harry kisses me gently, his soft lips parting just as they reach mine. He bites my lower lip very gently, leaving me to sit here wondering what that might've let to if we weren't at school.

He smirks at me before walking away. I hate him so much sometimes. Now I'm all wound up and he knows it. He knows exactly what he's doing to me.

My classes zoom by today. I feel as though time has speeded up. Everything feels like it's fast forwarding. I love the rush, but I want it to slow down. The only thing slow was lunch. It seems like the only relationship that's working in our group of friends is me and Harry's. Weird. It's usually the opposite.

I'm almost outside when I hear a familiar voice calling me back inside.

"Isabelle!" Louis catches me before I walk out the door. "Hey, what're you doing tonight?" He asks.

"Not much, I was going to have dinner with my mother."

"Okay, let's destroy that plan. You're coming to Eleanor's party tonight."

"She never mentioned a party to me," I ask confeusedly.

"That's because she just deicded she's having one now. She wants you there at 6, so be ready!"

He doesn't give me a chance to protest. I want to spend time with my mother, but it sounds like Eleanor really wants me there... I can't blow of my friends. My mother will understand, hopefully.

The walk home passes by quickly as I try and pick out my outfit in my head. A simple dress? A cute skirt with a blouse? Heels or boots? I struggle with these decisions the whole way home. I'm sure Harry has heard about it from Louis, but I send him a quick text verifying the party. I don't want to be there without him if I don't have to. He makes me feel safe.

I finally deicde on a cute, flowy skirt, a sweater and my little boots. Im too lazy to come up with anything more elaborate than that.

I keep my loose braid in from earlier, but I jazz up my makeup a little. I'm not usually that into makeup, just a little mascara here and a little lipgloss there. But I do enjoy dressing up, so I add a sweep of winged eyeliner.

Before I know it, it's already 5.30. I better head to Eleanor's before my mother arrives. I leave a quick note letting my mother know something came up, and I'll be back by 10 at the latest, praying I can stick to that promise. I leave the note on the counter and drive to Eleanor's.

I step in the door and the girls are already drinking, even though no one else is there yet. "ISABELLE!" Eleanor slurs. "YAY YOU CAME! LOUIS PROMSIED HE'D ASK YOU BUT I WASNT SURE IF HE DID BUT I GUESS HE DID BECAUSE HERE YOU ARE RIGHT ON TIME DO YOU WANT A DRINK?"

"Sure, that'd be great, El. Quit yelling, though!"

"Oops. Sorry," she giggles.

She hands me a drink as more people start to pour into her house. Harry's eyes meet mine as I spot him in the crowd. He smirks and makes his way over to me. I gulp down the rest of my drink before he reaches me and throw my cup in the direction of the recycling. I don't need more alcohol, I'm already drunk on Harry.

His hands meet my hips as he roughly pulls me close, grinding on me as we start to dance to the music. He leans in, our lips connecting feverishly before everhthing starts to fade...
I wake up in a strange bed. I look up around the room, but I don't recognize it. Where am I? I think. Or should I say we, I add when I see Harry lying beside me.

Eleanor's. I'm at Eleanor's. Oh right, the party...

AND MY MOTHER! I get up hurriedly, trying to find my sweater. I don't even have time to wonder why I'm half naked.

I check the time, it's already 6:30am. Oh god.

I drive home as fast as I can, but it's not soon enough. My mother is standing in the kitchen when I race inside. Her cold stare says more than any words.

"Mom, let me explain," I manage to get out.

"You've changed, Isabelle. It's not like you to go out on a school night and get so drunk you pass out. And it's not like you to skip dinner with me. I don't know why you've changed, but you have. I'm disappointed."

She sounds so condescending as she continues. "I need to head to Paris again. If anything, and I mean ANYTHING happens here, you'll regret it. Please, just be careful, Isabelle." She kisses me on the cheek as I stand there in shock. I forgot how calmly my mother handled any problems.

She walks out the door, suitcase in hand as she heads to the airport.

I guess I'm alone with my thoughts for the next little while.
