Take Me Home

“Take me home?” I asked and his eyes lit up, answering me. My hand fit in his like a glove, and I needed no prompting to stand up and walk away with him. Heck, I would have kept walking if I could stay with him, hand in hand, forever.
It had turned into a beautiful day to me despite the bad news and the drizzly, overcast weather. Nothing could spoil my day! Not even the throngs of people whom had gathered outside of the coffee shop. “Guess the cats out of the bag.” Liam said into my ear as he pulled me close, trying to shield me from his fans.
Who knew that Liam had a motorcycle, since he quickly led me to one parked on the side of the road and gave me his own helmet before the two of us sped away. Both arms around his waist, I pulled myself close to his. His smell assaulted my senses. Sweet like shampoo, yet musky and masculine from his cologne, lastly mixed with his personal aroma. The wind whipping past us was cold, my hair was slowing wildly behind us and I knew that I would never look as cool as he did no the bike as I hid my face in the crook of his neck.
All too soon, the motorcycle ride was over and we had arrived at his apartment. He rode into the underground garage, bypassing the people who would most likely be standing at the front entrance. He stopped the bike, disengaged the engine and tilted it on its side, leaning on the stand. Swinging one leg over the side, I lost my balance and nearly fell, but Liam’s strong grasp pulled me into him, still sitting on the motorcycle, to save me.
“Careful there love! We don’t want anything happening to you now do we?” he said, giving me a kiss on my cheek before releasing me.
“The bike threw off my equilibrium.” I replied, trying to play it off but knowing that I was never very good with equilibrium.
“Sure it did.” He took the helmet from my hand, placed it on the bike, and then replaced my empty hand with his own hand.
Hand in hand, again, we walked to the private elevator, which took us up to his apartment. We were silent, not an awkward silent but a comfortable one, relishing each other’s company but not ruining it with ill thought out words. Maybe he was doing the same thing I was, planning out what I was going to say next. I had not really been able to get anything out of him, so was I going to ask why he blew up at me? Or should I let it be, and just enjoy the fact that he was with me again?
As soon as the doors parted, Loki came bounding towards us greeting me before Liam. I bent down to pet his ears at the same time he jumped up and gave me a big kiss. Laughing, I playfully scolded him.
“Clearly Loki likes you as well. He always greets me first.” He said playfully.
“Well, things are about to change, mister.” I said, poking him in the side.
“Why don’t you come sit with me. I think there are some things that I need to explain to you.” He was serious. After planting ourselves on his couch, getting comfortable one on either side but sitting so we faced each other, he began. “I owe you an apology.”
“You do.” I said, trying not to sound harsh.
“You had told me that you didn’t know who I was, that you have never heard my music, and that you didn’t know about my past since you don’t read gossip magazines. I that was important in our relationship, if that is what this is going to me. I believed you. I really wanted to. But when I was at your house, and I saw those magazines, it was like telling me everything was a lie and I hated it. I wanted nothing more then for this whole thing to be true. So I was madder then I had been in a long time. I am so sorry for yelling at you, for accusing you. I am sorry that I assumed that it was all a lie.”
He looked defeated, and his body language told me not to interrupt him while he got the whole thing out.
“You have to understand why I act this way. Since me becoming famous, I have had my heart broken a few times. I tend to get invested in people rather fast; it is both a curse and a blessing. When I was on the X-Factor, I met Danielle who was a dancer. Her and me had a whirlwind romance. We flew all over the world together. But she was a few years older then me, and between both of our work schedules, it was hard. She broke up with me twice. The first time was hard, but we got back together. The second time happened a few months later. I guess I assumed that we would be back together in a few months, but when I realized that we were really over, I became really depressed. My boys, the rest of my band mates, they kept me going. Zayn especially. About six months later, I med Olivia at a concert. She had been the chaperone for her younger sister and two of her friends. The three younger girls were so excited, but Olivia. She stood back and didn’t even try to introduce herself to any of the boys; she seemed pretty indifferent. I slipped her my number, and two days later, she called. We dated for nine months, but we were so different and had so many different ideas, she said she couldn’t do it any more. Again, I was heart broken, which she made worse, when she gave an interview to some gossip magazine to make money about our relationship. It was embarrassing and hurt me more then the actual break up did.”
“And then there was Kim… I really liked her. I had been hesitant at first, but then she proved herself to me, or so I thought. I found out, the day that we collided that she had been lying to me the whole time. She had been using me for fame. So I hope you see why I reacted the way I did. I felt like you were going to betray me, be like Olivia and Kim who wanted the attention, to prosper from me.”
“Liam, look at me when I say this. I really like you. More then I ever knew possible, more then I have ever liked anyone before. I don’t know what I am feeling, but I know I don’t want it to go away.” I scooted myself forward and grasped his hand. “Liam, I am going to do everything in my power to not hurt you, on one condition, you do the same. I don’t care that you have fame, that you are rich. I care about you; about the way you make me feel. Even if you were a poor man, I know I would still feel the same.”
“Today, when we were sitting in the shop and I thought you were going to go back, my heart stopped. I have never felt panic like that. I don’t want you to go, I don’t want to be a part from you, Allie. I really like you too, and almost to the point where it scares me. I want to see you every day, to see where we go and just let it happen.”
“I want that too. So lets take it one day at a time, let it go slow.” I agreed.
“Well then, there is one more thing to talk about, what should I call you?” He asked me.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“What I really want to know, is if it is ok for me to call you my girlfriend.” He mumbled.
“You don’t have to ask my permission, but yet, I would really like that.” I leaned close to kiss him, as if to seal the deal, but before our lips met, his phone began to ring.
“You can not be fucking serious.” He half yelled as he pulled away and checked the caller ID. Answering the phone he began, “This better be really important, or I am going to kill you Niall!”
I could hear part of the chatter happening on the other side of the phone, but only bits and pieces. The two big ones that stuck with me were ‘picture’ and ‘internet.’
“Well, guess that ruins my plans of keeping it private.” He mumbled yet again, I was really going to have to talk to him about mumbling. “Niall, hang on a sec. I am going to put you on speaker phone…. Ok go head.”
“So basically, there are pictures all over the internet of you and that girl Allie. People have started speculating and are trying to figure out whom she is. So you might want to make a new game plan. Paul wants you to call him too.”
“What do you mean pictures of us?” I asked.
“Nice to talk to you Allie.” He said in his Irish accent. “What I mean is there were people in the coffee shop that snapped pictures of you two together. First you crying and him comforting you, then you two kissing, him walking you out of the shop, and finally, the one getting some of the more criticizing comments, is the two of you on the bike, which Liam had promised to keep a secret from the Directioners.”
“Niall, as much as I want to continue this conversation,” Liam remarked sarcastically, “I do not want to deal with this today. I am going to spend the rest of the day with Allie, and in the morning I will regroup with Paul and management. I am sure they will have some ideas by then.” And without waiting for a reply, he hung up the phone.
“Can we forget about that for a while?” Liam asked.
“What ever are you talking about?” I asked.
“Thank you.” He said, then leaned in and took that kiss from me that sealed the deal of me being his girlfriend. What started out as a chaste kiss soon turned deeper. I found my way onto his lap, straddling him as he leaned back into the couch. One hand held my head to him while the other roamed by back and rump. My hands were feeling everything, trying to memorize the feel of his body as they moved over the ripples in his stomach, the deep v leading my hands lower. I resisted the urge to go lower, but rather enjoyed the since of closeness from simply being the way we were.
Yet again, we were interrupted from our passionate embrace, this time from the sound of my phone. A text message. He slid my phone out of my back pocket, looked over my shoulder to see who it was from. “It’s Griff.” He said.
Immediately, I turned my body around, not letting my legs leave their position straddling Liam and took the phone from him.

**Dad’s doing well. Out of surgery and in recovery. Broken thigh,
and arm shattered. Bruising on his lounges and kidneys. But all
all internal bleeding stopped. I’ll text when we have more info.**

After reading it out loud, I let out a big sigh of relief and laid my head on his chest. “Thank God!” I murmured.
