Party Invasion

It ain’t nothing but a party.

March 19, 2012
The Dahm Mansion

I could tell already, that this was going to be a sick party. Malina somehow got the editor and chief of our schools’ website to post a reminder that there was a party at my house tonight. And at least 200 people have shown up already.

And my house is probably big enough to hold the entire school.

I turned on some music and turned off the lights, turning on some flickering ones. Everyone was having a good time, except the problem was, Malina wasn’t here yet.

I was just about to call her but there was a knock on the door.

“Wazzup?!” Malina yelled over the music when I opened the door. And my eyes transferred from hers to the bags in her hands. “What’s wrong with a little bit of alcohol?”

“Um, M, we’re underage.” I laughed and she scoffed.

“That doesn’t stop any mofo from drinking.” She then walked into the house and into the kitchen, setting the drinks and mixtures on the counter. Then she pulled out a pitcher and began pouring mixtures and drinks in it, shaking it up and blending it together. “Don’t look at me like that. You don’t know how many parties I’ve been to.”

Then I realized that I had been gaping at her.

“And what the hell are you wearing?” She asked, stopping what she was doing and looking at my outfit. “You can’t wear shit like that to a party, especially your own.”

She grabbed my arm and pulled me to the stairs and up to my room. She pushed me in front of my full body mirror and I winced at myself.

I was wearing skinnies, a food stained t-shirt, and my hair was a wild mess. I had been preparing all day since Malina didn’t bother to do it the night I asked her, so I didn’t have time to get ready or change.

She walked to my closet and pulled out a red party dress that was about thigh length, and my black pumps.

“Put this on.” She shoved the outfit in my arms and I began to put it on. Once I had it on, she pulled me to her and began to do my makeup.

“What is wrong with you, M?” I asked and she stopped. She turned me around and brushed out my hair, putting some mousse in it that she found in my bathroom.

“That rich fucker ran into me while I was at the liquor store. Called me a bitch and told me to burn in hell. And I did not like that at all. So I punched him in the face.” I snapped my head towards her and she put lipstick on her lips. “He only bled for a few minutes, then he apologized. I had forgiven him for a few minutes, but then he called you the bitch.”

“What did you do?” I swallowed.

“Let’s just say that he might have a concussion.” I laughed and she smiled at me.

“And don’t be a puss all night. You’re supposed to be having fun. I’m back home, remember? You’re supposed to be happy that I’m here.” I ran my hand through her hair and she scowled at me, patting it down.

“Alright, alright. I won’t be moody. Let’s just have a good time.” She smiled and I looked in the mirror when she walked to the door.

I looked better than I did last night. Last night…. Was one of the worst nights of my life.

I shook my head and walked out of my room. When we walked downstairs, the doorbell rang. Like I said, there was only about 200 people at the moment. But as soon as I opened the door, people started flooding in and it’s like the crowd never stopped.

I counted as they walked in, and when no one else was coming, I added up my total. 718 people, in my house, for a party.

“My God. I didn’t know how exhausting this would be.” I sighed and walked into the kitchen with Malina.

“Hey. Ana, I want you to meet some people.” She smiled and I cocked an eyebrow, running my hand through my hair and picking up a random solo cup. Without knowing what the substance was on the inside, I took a drink of it. And it was surprisingly delicious. “This is Collin,” She pointed to a tall, lanky brunette with tattoos and I nodded. “And this is Jack.” She pointed to a large man with a lip piercing and my eyes traveled down his body.

“Nice to meet you.” Collin said and I shook his hand.

“She’s the host of this fine party.” Malina said and Collin smiled.

“No shit! This is the best party I’ve been to in months. Bravo, chick.” Collin said and I did a mock bow.

“No kidding. The fraternity parties are shit this year. And everyone at school throws parties like they’re birthday parties. Ain’t no fun anymore, no.” Jack spoke words and I looked at him, making him wink at me and I flushed.

I don’t have a good feeling about this. “How come I’ve never seen you before?” I asked Jack, and he gave me a grin. Damnit, now you’ve done it.

“I just moved here, darlin.” His accent was thick, and I couldn’t decide what it was.

“Where are you from?” I took another drink of the unknown substance in my solo cup.

“Louisiana.” He smiled again and I flushed. “I’m Cajun.” So that’s his accent… Makes a lot of sense. I took another drink and he scoffed. “Don’t drink that. Drink this.” He handed me a drink and I took a swig of it. Tangy and burning.

“Well, I’ll leave you to it.” Malina winked at me before taking Collin by the arm and dragging him away from me and Jack.

“Have you ever thrown a party before?” Jack asked and I shook my head.

“Well, yeah. But not one like this. First party I’ve ever had with alcohol.” I laughed at myself and rolled my eyes in embarrassment.

“You ever gotten drunk before?” He took a step closer to me and I tensed.

“No.” I smiled and his eyes flashed in a way I couldn’t read.

“Well you might not want to get drunk then. Because,” He leaned down to me. “If a bonne girl like you gets drunk, a man will break out on you like no one else and you’ll never want to go to a party again. So I suggest, that you be careful.”

I swallowed and he licked his lips.

“Hey. There’s some jackass in the front lawn trying to get inside. No one will let him so he’s like beating up everyone who stands in his way.” Collin walked into the kitchen and I blinked a few times, feeling dizzy.

I walked to and slammed open the front door and my vision adjusted to the surroundings around me.

“Dude, you are like beating people up for no fucking reason!” Malina? Is that Malina? I blinked again and saw her standing over someone who was hovered over a passed out guy on the ground.

“Hey.” I called, and everybody looked to me. I put my hand on my forehead and used my feet to steady my all-of-a-sudden weight. “You don’t need to be picking fights here. Let’s all just have fun.” My words were slurred and I walked over to the fighter. “Don’t you have somewhere to be, mister?” I slurred again and opened my eyes.

“Actually, I came here to tell you something.” Harry is here? Oh my gosh, I can tell him how I feel!

He began to talk, but I couldn’t hear anything. Everything around me began to blur and I grabbed a hold of him, making him stop talking.

“Are you okay?” He asked, grabbing my arms.

“Harry. I have… To t-tell you something.” I sputtered and he let go of me.

But then I hit the ground and he whispered, “I’ve got you, bébé.”

~~~~
I shot my eyes open, but immediately closed them because the light that was shining was far too much for me to handle.
“Turn that fucking light off!” I snapped and I heard Malina laughing beside me.
“The lights are off, Gomer. Harry thought it would be better to have the lights off.” Harry? Oh my God, I forgot he was here.
I jumped up and Malina put her hand on my arm as soon as I grabbed my temples.
“What the hell happened?” I asked, looking at her with squinted eyes.
“Jack roofied your drink. I’m not surprised that he did it, but Collin kicked him out when me and Harry carried you upstairs.” She stated and I ran my hands through my hair.
But then I looked at my clothes. I had been put in sweatpants and a t-shirt. One that smelled like… Harry.
“Malina. I got some ice for her head if she needs it. I just needed a new shirt so I found one in the spare bedroom, I’m sure she won’t mind. Just tell me when she...” He looked up and his shoulders relaxed. “Wakes up.”
I scrambled to my feet and walked up to him. “I have to tell you something.”
“I have to tell you something as well.” He straightened up and I sighed.
“You first.” I mumbled and he returned the sigh.
“Penelope and I are scheduled to get married in May. I begged my mother to cancel it, but she’s already paid for everything.” He looked at me and furrowed his brows. “Please don’t cry.”
I’m crying? I put my hands on my cheeks to find them wet with tears. “So, you are getting married to Penelope?”
“I don’t want you to be mad Anastasia. That’s the last thing I wanted you to be.” He grabbed my arm and I shook my head.
“I’m not mad. I gave you my blessing, and now you’re getting married. It’s not that big of a deal Harry.” Now I knew I was crying harder than I was.
“But you’re unhappy.” He muttered and I let out a cry.
“No I’m not. Go marry Penelope.” I forced a smile and he returned it.
“Penelope wants you to come to the wedding.” He said and my lips parted. “She knows that we were something, and she wants you to come. She even wants you to go dress shopping with her.”
“I’ll think about it.” I went and sat down on my bed and looked at Malina, who had her mouth open and she was standing in the corner of the room, listening to us.
“Now what were you going to tell me?” He asked, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“I love you.” I mumbled, but I knew he heard me.
“After all this time, you decided to tell me this now? I just decided to marry someone that I didn’t even love because I thought you didn’t return the love that I have for you.” He seemed aggravated and I walked back up to him. “Dammit, Anastasia. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” His eyes filled with tears and I swallowed.
I hesitated, but I wiped them from his cheeks. “I love you, Harry.”
