Love Never Fails
Prologue
Prologue
"You are never to see him again." The words that came from my fathers mouth. The ones I wouldn't forget. How could he. I remember the day. My hair was dyed and I got colored contacts. Everyone had to change.
This is how it began. The CHANGE is what they called it. Girls were separated from boys by a wall. My mother said we were to much different. My father was the mayor of the state. We were the only ones left. The only state left. The rest of the people were dead. My father being the mayor ordered for opposite sexes to be separated. Love was not allowed. After he saw my love affair, it scarred him. He responded by doing this.
That boy. He was indescribable. My father saw him as a threat. He saw all boys a threat to girls. The questioned is, why was he allowed to love mom? The question always provoked my mind. Didn't they want to have grand kids? Our kind was running out.
The CHANGE was a destructive thing to humans. We were forced to change and not love. I remember what my grandma always told me.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
This stuck with me. This made me believe that god would help us. Every night I prayed. I know he was listening, maybe the only one listening.
