Bad Blood
Fire, Rage, and Burn
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage, against the dying of the light.
One of Annalise's favorite poems, by Dylan Thomas, about fire and rage, and loss. Connecting with fire, associated with rage, and no stranger to loss, the poem sparked a light in her, allowing her easier control over her temperamental charge.
It was this poem that she recited, in the burning room, trying to save the rest of her family. Panic and worry, never a good combination when dealing with fire, sent gusts of flames over the couch, and her family's shrieks only serving as fuel to the fire. Desperately trying to stop the fire, her ragged breath slowly shallows, smoke scorching her throat.
The last thought she had when she fell, ungracefully, to the ground, was, Do not go gentle to that good night, old age should burn and rage at close of day, rage, rage, against the dying of the light. Wise men- Oblivion overtook her, and the screams from her family faded to strangled whispers.
