Fast, Fierce, and Feisty

“Conner” I say into the phone
“Es? You okay?” He asks concerned
“I have some important news..” I say in a shaky voice
“What, get on with it Esmee.” He says worried.
“I have a little girl. Her name is Ashton Anna Andrews. And...I need support. We don’t know how it happened- we were safe, but I don’t care now that I have her. She is beautiful Con..” I say a tear falls from my yes and I hear muffled sobs from the other side.
“Oh Esmee- how could you be so reckless?” he asks softly
“Im not sorry.” I mumble “It was instant. The love I felt for her Con. I’m still going to school and stuff, but I’m going to need you guys. And...Don’t tell mom or dad .I want to explain face to face.”
“I love you. I’ll support you as much as I can- We will hurry on a plane asap.” he says
“I love you too.” I say hanging up. Chase kisses my cheek and I smile.“Now. Call your mom here.” I order and his eyes widen.
“I’m so freaking scared. She is going to beat me up. I got a girl pregnant.” He says in a shocked way and I slap his shoulder
“Fine.” He rolls his eyes and I slap his shoulder again.
We were still in the hospital. It has been 3 days since Ash was born and We have been with her 24/7
As the phone rings I smirk at Chase, “So ready for them boys to line up?” I question and his eyes widen
“Oh shit.” He says frowning “Guys are so stupid. I totally understand everything now.” he says softly and I chuckle
“I’m going to be the parent that lets her date.” I say and he glares at me
“Not going to- HI mom!” He suddenly chirps and panic raises in me instantly
“I have news..But you’re going to have to come to the hospital..” He says in a more serious tone “no. Im fine. But I have really big news. bring dad, leave Lily at the neighbors. It important just hurry.” He says and hangs up
“Oh god they are coming.” I say and we look back at Ashton
“Yeah, she isn’t aloud to date, or hold hands. Or think about boys. I think she should be home schooled.” he says simply and I giggle
“I wouldn’t mind teaching her.” I say and he smiles at me “We could teach her how to sing and play piano like her mommy. And football.” I say and he smiles
“My little girl is going to be a sporty musician.” He says testing the words nodding
“Sound great.” we say together.
A nurse came in a little later to check on Ashton and give us more tips. It was so great we had a whole support system at the hospital. She game in this time with bloodwork results.
“Here you go. She is allergic to peanuts and that is all. Have a nice day.” She leave without us saying a word and I look at Ashton who is sleeping soundly
“Peanuts? Damnit! Now you can’t make those cookies anymore.” Chase frowns and I chuckle knowing he was in love with peanut butter anything.
“I’ll make them, just not give them to her. And make sure to brush your teeth and hands before holding her after eating them. Simple.” I smile at him and he smiles widely.
“Chase!?” I hear Chase’s mom call as she hurries through the door followed by his dad. My eye widen and so do their’ when they see Ashton.
“Surprise!” Chase shouts smiling nervously
“Holy shit.” His dad mumbles and I smile at them nervously
“Before you freak out!-” CHase starts “We didn’t know. We were safe. And not sorry. We need support from both families. If she is going to grow up in a stable environment..” he says seriously
“Okay.” His mom says and his dad nods slowly
“Whats her name?” his mom asks
“Ashton Anna Andrews.” Chase and I say softly
“She is beautiful. Let me hold my grandbaby.” she chirps scooping her up cradling her gently
“How did your parents take it Esmee?” she asks
“They dont know yet...i told Conner and he is flying them over for me to tell them face to face.” I say softly
“Well, you have us if you need anything. And now to be proper parents... I’m talking to the both of you when I say, How could you be so reckless!? You are still children! You better still be going to school!” She snaps and my eyes widen as she says in venomously but still calmly as she holds the child.
“We are still going to school. We have money and a house and schooling is paid. We won’t fall under hopefully.” Chase says and they nod
“So, when’s the wedding?” Chase’s dad asks
I choke on air and Chase’s eyes widen dramatically. We haven’t even talked about that!
“What? do you mean to tell me this child is going to grow up where it has a mother and father but not a legally united family?” he asks confused
“We need to take this in small steps dad. Everything will happen when we are ready.” Chase says kissing my forehead.
“Yeah. We aren’t going to put ourselves first. It’s about Ashton.” I say smiling “God this is so crazy.” I mumble to myself looking at her
“We can do it.” Chase says intertwining our fingers together
“Oh god. Someone needs a change.” Chase’s mom says and I wrinkle my nose looking over at Chase
“Hey daddy Im still under bed arrest. This is all you.” I joke around with him and he looks at me pouting
He gets up and his mom teaches him how to do it carefully, I giggle each time he pokes his tongue out in concentration.
“Shut up Esmee you don’t know how to do it either.” he playfully snaps at me
“I do too. I worked at a daycare for 5 years in the infant unit back in Manchester.” I say smiling and he frowns at me
“Ugh.” he rolls his eyes
“Im hungry.” I frown and he looks over at me nodding
“What do you want? I’ll go get everyone, not hospital food, lunch.” Chase’s dad says smiling
“I really want a sweet tea and fries.” I say smiling brightly. He chuckles and nods heading out.
I ended up falling asleep shortly after everything calmed down and was woken up when his dad came back.
“Why are you sleeping so much?” Chase asks me as we all eat and I shrug
“I think it is the meds they put me on.” I shrug and he nods
“What are you going to be when you get out of here Es?” Chase’s mom asks and I smile
“Im going to campus collecting my makeup work, talking to my coach, and conditioning for the season.” I say and she frowns at me
She frowns at me and her eyes widen, “How many days has it been since you were out of bed?” she asks
“Three?” I say
“Oh dear. They will be in here sometime soon to have you try and walk. And let me tell you. It is hard.” She explains and I look at her confused “It is surgery hunny. Your body will need recovery time.” She explains and I nod slowly “The first time after c-section I couldn’t hold my own weight, I had almost fallen.” She explains
“You’ve had a c-section?” I question
“Yeah, This fat ass couldn’t fit.” She points at Chase I burst into a fit of giggles as he blushes playfully glaring at his mom who chuckles
“Well, I can’t wait to try.” I say
I eat all my food and soon finish my tea. I was currently holding Ash again while everyone slept. I place her in her bed to sleep and she looks up at me with her big blue eyes before smiling lightly.
My heart leaps and I smile widely at my child. i can’t wait for my parents and brothers to come meet her. And suddenly I felt guilty for not telling my family right after it happened.

The next day was very awful, the doctors tried to get me out of bed but I couldn’t even hold myself up, it didn’t hurt but I felt as if I’d lost my midsection!
It was embarrassing!
“I want to go home.” I tell Chase as we cuddle in the small hospital bed.
“I know. Me too.” he says softly “Your parents are coming in today.” he adds and I snuggle closer into his chest
“I know.” I say in a muffled tone
“Do you think they will react like my parents?” he asks
“I think they will be unpredictable. Conner is on board. And he has probably already told Dylan. But..My parents I don’t know..” I mumble “I don’t want to disappoint them.”I say “I’ve never disappointed them.” I say
“You wont.” Chase says “You’re a good daughter.” He says and I sigh before pushing my lips to his.
“Whoa whoa! Thats what got us into this mess in the first place!” I hear a familiar voice chuckle and I pull away sitting up quickly
“Conner! Dylan!” I cheer before wincing at my quick movements
“Little sister what have you guys done.” Dylan asks while they hug me. “Where is the baby?” He asks
“She is right over there. Her name is Ashton Anna Andrews.” I say softly looking at my baby
“I can’t believe this.” Conner says as they stare at her lovingly
“How do you think mom and dad will react?” I ask scared
“I honestly don’t know.” Dylan says
“I guess we are about to find out. They are here.” Conner says and I sigh
“Chase can you hold her?” I ask. He nods and goes to get her out of bed.
We all wait silently until my mom and dad burst through the door with worried faces
“Esmee are you okay!? He told us you were in the hospital and we-” My mom stops talking when she sees Ashton. Her eyes widen along with my dad’s
“Esmee. Please tell me she isn’t yours.” My dad mumbles and I frown
“Her name is Ashton Anna Andrews..We didn’t know until the day we got her. We were safe and, it just happened.” I say
“How could you be so careless. You were the most responsible child, always. How could you mess up your entire future!?” My dad snaps at me and I flinch
“I didn’t mess up my future! Im still attending school and-”
“You are in that school because of soccer. You think you can play soccer while recovering from child birth!? You wont be able to play Esmee and you will be kicked out!” He shouts.
Tears well up in my eyes and reality hits me
“I don’t regret it.” I say “I will never regret it.” I say again
“Hunny calm down.” My mom says to my dad angrily “She is our child and that is out grandchild! I don’t know about you but I want them in my life.” She says to my dad and turns to Chase smiling at him
“May I?” She asks and He hands her off, She cradles Ash and seems happy about the situation
“You better find the money for college, because now...you wont be able to play.” My dad says before walking out.
“Dad!” I call tears fall from my eyes when he doesn’t come back.
“Shh. Its going to be okay.” Chase say holding me “He loves you.” he reassures me and then I hear Ashton belting, I have never heard her cry so this is a shock.
I instantly wave my mom to hand her over.
