Call It a Dare

Chapter Two

"Are you sure we can't call a cab?" I ask my sister, Natalie.

"Like I've siad twelve times, if we see one, we'll flag it down." She replies. "For now, we'll just keep walking towards the hotel."

"We can't just flag them down here, Nat!" I shoot back "This ain't New York!"

Just then, a big red van stopped next to us. Natalie told me to stop walking, so I did.

The passenger rolled the window down. "Need a cab?"

"Yeah," Natalie said, not quite sure.

"Well hop in!" The driver had bright green eyes and a local accent. "Michael, open the door."

The door flung open to reveal another man. "Come on! We don't bite."

I started towards them, but Natalie stopped me. "Don't."

The boys continued to stare at us.

"We're okay, but thank you for the offer!" Natalie calls over to them. "We're nearly there!"

"Whatever, love." The driver says before they close up and drive away.

"I don't trust them." Natalie says. "Come on, let's hurry back."

"Okay," I mutter before we start walking at a quick pace back.

We walk down a few blocks before turning down a short alley.

"Come on, it's quicker." Natalie urges. "I've been this way with my friends."

I oblige, trusting Natalie. She had to be right, probably being down this way numerous times in her 21 years of existence.

We start down the at the same quick pace. We're almost out of the alley when a large fingure appears in front of us.

"Thought you could get away, did you?" An Australian accent sneers. "well, tough luck, sweethearts."

The person, a male, lunges for me. Natalie pushes me back before firmly placing both hands on the man's chest and shoving him.

"Run!" She says urgently.

I obey, turning around and heading back down the alley. I turn my head back to see that Natalie had some pole-like object in her hand and was whacking the man repeatedly. Before I could turn around to help Nat, I smacked straight into something... or someone.

"Gotcha," The person, another male, whispered. This man had the same accent as the driver of the red van.

I kicked as hard as I could, but the man had a tight grip around me.

"NATALIE!" I screamed.

There was no reply.

I imediately began to worry. What if that guy did something horrible to her?

"Let's go, love." The man barks at me.

"No."

Before I knew it, he put something over my nose and i began to fade.

"Now, let's go." Was the last thing I heard.
