The Hostage and the Wanted

Chapter 2: A View from the Other Side

Isabella’s voice eventually fell silent, realizing it went unheard by everyone around, herself included. She knew it wasn’t worth wasting her breath but she needed to make them understand that she and everyone else in the car were in danger. Unfortunately, she had to wait until green eyes released her mouth from his hand.

“She seems a lot calmer; everything ok back there, mate?” Louis asked, his eye catching Isabella’s.

“Yeah, everything’s fine, she went quiet about twenty minutes ago.” Harry replied, leaning forward so he and Isabella were eye to eye. “If I take my hand away, will you stay quiet? Because we’re another good fifteen minutes from the flat and my hand is starting to cramp.”

Isabella nodded calmly, her eyes hopeful.

“Alright, luv, I’m taking my hand away; don’t scream; don’t make a sound or it will go right back on. Understand?” Harry warned, watching her nod again.

He slowly lifted his hand from Isabella’s mouth, watching the girl lick her lips nervously and look around, coming to stare back at Harry who only smiled.

“Almost there. We’ll get the girl settled and then figure out what our next plan of action is.” Louis said, turning off one of the long side streets.

Isabella knew just from the direction they went that it was a part of London that few souls dared to venture-if they were from that part of town, she was thinking, they were bad news.

Louis noticed the girl’s expression; she was becoming increasingly nervous – which meant she knew where they were going. That thought alone amused him. Although, he became slightly concerned when tears started to replace her worried expression.

“Harry? You got a Kleenex or something? The girl’s about to flood the car and drown us.” Louis noted dully, watching Harry search his pockets, pulling a pack out and taking one from it.

“Come on, Isabella, we’re not going to hurt you.” Harry promised, dabbing the tears from her eyes and glancing up toward Louis who had returned his eyes to the road.

“I’m trying to tell you two that we’re being followed. The van, there should be a van following behind, that’s what I’m trying to say and you’re saying you’re not going to hurt me yet you’re taking me to the worst part of London, what am I supposed to think? You took me hostage; I don’t recall that as something good people do!” Isabella exclaimed, letting loose a pent up sob, which caught the two wanted men slightly off guard.

“Trust me, love, at this moment, I’m starting to regret not taking the till worker. At least he would have been a tad quieter.” Louis muttered, struggling to fight off a headache as the girl’s sobs continued.

Harry sighed and began to gently rub the girl’s back. He really didn’t know how to handle female emotions. He knew how to pleasure them in bed but a hysterical female was not his forte.

“Lou? Maybe we are getting a tad bit over our heads, yeah? I say we just drop her off someplace - let her fend for herself. You know as well as I do those checkered pigs are going to report that robbery to the magistrate and we’ll have a warrant back on us. At least if we’re arrested with the girl nowhere in sight-“Harry started but Louis cut him off.

“The girl stays with us. If they report the robbery to the magistrate then we will plan on what to do from there but Isabella is a key, you don’t lose keys, especially when they’re useful for opening up certain doors. I am not going back to jail and I’ll be damned if you are either,” Louis said with finality, glancing outside and noticing that there was a white van tailing them. “What I want to know is why there is a van following us in the first place.”

“You took the wrong hostage, that’s why!” Isabella sobbed, feeling Harry continue to massage her back, the motion, however sentimental it was, was not bringing her any comfort.

“I’m beginning to see that.” Louis muttered, hitting the accelerator and picking up speed, turning the wheel hard and running a sharp corner, watching the speedometer climb.

“Fuck me,” Harry muttered, grabbing hold of the leather bar on the door with one hand and using his other to steady the tied up girl. “I’d tell you to hold on but-“He didn’t get to finish as Louis slammed on the brakes and turned the car down another road-this time a one way, with him going the wrong direction.

Harry made a quick second decision to reach over Isabella and grab the seatbelt, throwing it across her and buckling it before doing the same for himself.

Harry trusted Louis to a fault and knew his friend had outdriven police using the same methods – he just didn’t necessarily trust the other cars.

“What are you bloody doing?” Isabella yelled, her body forced against Harry’s as Louis took another turn, the cobblestone sending the car bouncing up and down.

“Getting rid of your stalker.” Louis growled, punching the accelerator again.

Isabella saw the scenery whirl past, the small cobblestone roads going by in a pink and brown blur, the buildings mixing together like solid dust.

“You’re going to get us all killed!” She screamed, panic now replacing her worry.

“I don’t think so.” Louis growled, his blue eyes darkening with determination. He glanced back for a brief second, noticing the van giving chase with ease. If they could lose the other vehicle then they could get back to the flat and try to sort out the mess they had gotten themselves into.

Isabella yelled, wishing more than anything that she could hold onto something. Not only was slamming into one side of the car and then into another human uncomfortable, but to have no control where your body went was downright frustrating. She regretted even opening her mouth about the van. They were surveillance, hardly a threat, but it was what they would send after her that posed the problem.

“You’re not going to outrun them and you’re going to draw the police's attention! We’re heading down the wrong fucking direction, turn around!” Isabella pleaded as Harry seized her mouth with his hand again. Luckily her lips were parted when he did and she took advantage of his mistake.

Without hesitation she bit down on the tender webbing between his fingers, watching with satisfaction as he yelled out in pain and pulled his hand away, swearing.

“Bloody fucking desert viper!” Harry exclaimed, shaking his hand out, his body slamming into the side door when Louis took another sharp turn. “Easy on the turns, mate, bloody fuck!”

“Fuck it! Harry? Shield her; we’re about to crash course. I’m not playing this game.” Louis said, throwing the gear into reverse and flooring the gear all the way to the mat.

Isabella screamed, her eyes wide and her body tensing up.

“Shut up!” Harry and Louis yelled at her in unison while Harry grabbed hold and held her to him tightly, shielding her body with his own.

Isabella felt the acceleration climb, her body suddenly jerking violently to an abrupt stop as her vehicle made contact with another one coming out of nowhere.

“Oh fuck – “Louis trailed off, looking back to see a silver car had gotten in between him and the van he was aiming to hit.

Harry unshielded himself from Isabella and looked out the back window, seeing steam and smoke rising from the hood of the other car.

“Louis, drive, drive now!” Harry panicked, reaching over to hit the back passenger seat signaling that they needed to leave. Louis obliged to the request.

As they drove away, Louis noticed the van stalled, not having enough room to get around to pursue the chase.

“Bloody fuck…” Isabella murmured, her body sore from the sudden impact.

“Just-just shut up.” Harry breathed, his green eyes glancing back to make sure they had truly lost the van; to his relief, they had.
