"-up soon."
"Tragic-"
"-she's a warrior."
I heard bits and pieces of the conversation as I came back to reality. I started thinkng that they were talking about me. And, if they truly were talking about me, I had a feeling it confirmed my worst nightmare.
My mother truly was dead.
I was overcome with grief as I pictured the scene where my mother was on the floor, gushing blood. I fluttered my eyes, trying to open them, to erase the picture. But a bright light in front of my face wouldn't allow me to.
Someone must've noticed, because the light suddenly became darker. I opened my eyes and looked up at the ceiling.
The ceiling? The last thing I remembered was looking up at the night sky light up by stars and flashing lights.
"How does your head feel, Hon?" Someone asked. I immediatly spotted the person.
She was an older lady, around 50. She was wearing blue shrubs and a nametag which I couldn't read. She had chocolate skin, and her black hair had hints of grey in it
"I'm fine, thanks." I replied. "How's my mother?" I braced for the answer.
The nurse's expression turned sad. "She didn't quite make it, Hon."
I figured. I felt my throat tighten and tears threaten to fall. I pushed them aside and foxused on a lady in a suit coming into the room.
"May I have a moment alone with her?" The blonde woman in the suit asked my nurse.
"Erm, yes, but not too long." The nurse replied, checking a couple of things before stepping out of the room, leaving me alone with the strange woman.
