Love Hate

"W-what are you talking about" I asked.

"Nothing" she said.

"Jess tell me" I said.

"I don't want to talk about it" she yelled.

If this were any other time I'd let it slide and let her tell me later, but I needed know now.

"Jess please tell me" I asked.

She sighed.

"Niall doesn't like me" she said.

"I knew there was something going on with you two" I said.

"Actually there's not" she said sadly.

"Why didn't you tell me you liked him" I asked her.

"I thought you knew that already, I mean I am a Niall girl" she said.

"Yeah but I thought that was fan love not real life relationship love" I said.

"That's what it was before but it changed" she said leaning back into the seat.

"Well how do you know he doesn't like you back" I asked.

"I told him that I liked him but he said he didn't like me in that way" she explained.

"That ass" I said in disbelief as I pulled into a parking spot at school.

"Don't say that. I don't know why I expected him to like me back though" she said and got out of the car.

"Jess" I called out to her, chasing after her.

She didn't turn around.

I stood in front of her blocking her way.

"Gabby move, or we're gonna be even more late" she said.

"I don't care" I said looking at her. I could see in her eyes she was really sad but she was trying to hide it.

"Why didn't you tell me about any of this until now" I asked hurt. She's my best friend, we're supposed to tell each other everything.

"Because you're always to busy hanging out with your boyfriend every second of the day" she said.

"I still hang out with you" I defended.

"Yeah when he's not around" she said.

"Which is almost every single day. Of course I'm going to be around him as much as I can when he's here, I barely see him" I said raising my voice a little.

"You know what I don't care just leave me alone" she said.

I was taken aback by her request.

"What" I asked shocked.

"Leave me alone. I don't want to be bothered by your excuses and you're really annoying me, so just leave me alone" she said then walked past me into the school.

Did that really just happen?

My best friend just told me to leave her alone when I didn't even do anything wrong.

It took me awhile to process what had just happened. When it processed, I just walked inside the school.

When I walked into the office Jess was there, obviously.

She didn't even look at me.

The secretary handed us our passes and we both walked out going our separate ways.

I was laying on my bed thinking. Mostly about Jess.

I could tell this wasn't going to be like our other arguments. Usually we would apologize and become friends again like ten minutes after the fight. It's been three hours.

I wanted to call her but I knew that wouldn't work because she wanted me to leave her alone so there's no way she would answer.

I'm super worried about her. She hasn't been this hurt since we were fifteen and that resulted in her cutting herself.

I remeber when I first saw the scars. I was actually surprised I didn't pass out because of the loss of water in my body. It took me forever to stop crying.

If she was at home cutting herself I don't know what I would do.

I heard a knock on my door snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Come in" I said quietly.

The door opened revealing my mom.

She walked in, shut the door and sat on the edge of my bed.

"Hey there daughter of mine" she said giving me small smile.

"Hello mother of mine" I said smiling.

"So what's going on. Why've you been in here the whole time you've been here" she asked.

"It's nothing" I told her looking down.

"Woah, this is the first time I've ever seen you try to hide your feelings" she said chuckling. "But seriously, what's wrong" she asked moving so she was sitting across from me. She sat Indian style and waited for my answer.

"Jess and I got into an argument" I said not making eye contact with her.

"About what" she asked curiously.

"Niall I guess you could say and me" I told her.

"What happened" she asked.

"Well it started when I asked her what was going on between her and Niall" I started.

"Yeah what is going on with them" she asked.

"She said nothing was going on between them" I told her.

"That's definitely not true, there has to be something going on with them" she said.

"Exactly" I said. "I didn't believe her so I kept asking her questions about it and she got mad at me, then she blurted out that she loved him" I told her.

"We already knew that" my mom said.

"Not as a fan, she loves him loves him" I told her.

"So how did that become an argument" she asked confused.

"I'm not there yet" I whined.

"So before she told me she liked him she said she was upset that the person she loved didn't love her back. So when she told me she loved Niall I asked her how she knew he didn't have feelings for her too" I said.

My mom nodded her head in understandment so I continued.

"She said she had told him how she felt and he said he didn't feel the same way" I told her.

"That idiot. How can he not like Jess" she asked in disbelief.

"That's what I was saying" I said. "But anyway she said she wasn't expecting him to like her back then walked out of the car because we were at school at that part" I explained.

"So I chased after her and stood in front of her so she couldn't go inside" I said.

"Then I asked her why she didn't tell me about any of this Niall stuff and she told me because I'm always hanging out with Harry" I said.

"You barely see him" my mom pointed out.

"Exactly my point. But then she told me to leave her alone, so I haven't talked to her since then" I said sadly at the end.

"I didn't know you two could even go that long without talking to each other" my mom said.

"I guess it's true that anything can happen" I said. "But I'm worried, she seemed really hurt and stuff and I don't want her to cut herself again" I said quietly.

"I hope she doesn't" my mom said.

When I told my mom Jess cut she cried too, not as much as I did, but she still cried. Jess was like another daughter to my mom so just imagine if your mom found out you cut, my mom would have the same reaction with Jess even though Jess isn't her daughter.

"I hope she doesn't either" I said laying back on my bed.
