Island Flower That Never Fades
May 12th, 2009
“Mum, Mum!” I cried, excited. “Mum, Sam’s coming this summer! And he says he’s bringing a friend. His name’s Liam. Liam wants to meet me! They’re coming to stay with us, right? At least for a few days?”
“Sure, sweetheart. They can come stay with us for as long as they like. Just don’t tell your siblings.”
“Right. Thanks, Mum. I’ll go email Sam. Oh, and I have dance tonight, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, thanks Mum!” I ran off, ready to tell my old friend the good news. I grabbed the old DELL, opening up my email to a draft.
‘Sam,
Hi! How’re you? I hope you’re well, as I am. Love the haircut, by the way.
I still can’t believe you’re coming this summer! I can’t wait. So, you’re coming from July 1st to August 31st, right? My mum said you can stay with us for as long as you like. Is there anything in particular you’d like to do, or anyone you’d like to meet? You can meet some of my friends on my birthday, or something…
So, tell me more about Liam. He’s a year older than us, right? What’s he like? Where’s he from?
Tell everybody I said hi! I miss you all so much! Maybe I’ll visit… next year? The year after? Soon.
Love, Isla Amarante’
I don’t know why I always signed things with both names, I just did. It’s kind of like nicknames, except it makes it longer.
Sam’s coming this summer!
Notes
I really need to stop starting new stories... Hope you like it!
