Still the One

“Aunt Libby are you ready yet???”, my niece Emma shouted up the stairs. Since I never ever get to spend time with Emma I told her we could go wherever she wanted. I wouldn’t have said that if I knew she had a slight obsession with One Direction. When I tried to get out of it my sister said she didn’t care if I had problems with them I had to go. Ugg. I couldn’t let Emma down. Even if I was famous now, family comes first.

“In a minute Emma!”, I shouted down. My outfit was casual but classy and appropriate. I wasn’t going there to impress anyone after all. ( btw Libby is wearing one of the outfits that Hunter Bell designed for express in the finale of 2013 Fashion Star, the one with the skirt and shirt) As I grabbed my purse and headed down the stairs, Emma stood smiling largely at me in her jean shorts and one direction t-shirt. Didn’t she know the boys all hate those shirts with their faces on them? “Aunt Libby!! Guess what? We get to go to the meet and greet before hand!!”, she said rather loudly obviously excited.

I looked at my sister. She smiled sadly and mouthed I’m sorry but I had to. I rolled my eyes at her and faked a smile at Emma. “This is going to be sooo fun!”, I said with fake enthusiasm but being an actrice I can pull that off.

When we got there it was crowded with screaming girls. This was going to be soo fun. I wanted to turn and run away before it was too late. I didn’t want to get my heart broken again. But i looked over at Emma, she had a big goofy grin on her face I couldn’t do that to her. I would do this for her not for him.

We made our way over to the meet and greet line. I noticed people pointing at me obviously recognizing me. I pulled my hair out of the ponytail it was in and put it down so it covered by face and put my sunglasses on. I didn’t want to be recognized not right here, right now. I looked over at Emma, she was still smiling. Of course she had no idea as to why I wouldn’t want to meet them or re-meet them. It happened when she was only 5 and it was 3 years ago. I was just starting out and had only been in one movie. All she had known was I had broken up with my boyfriend she never asked who that was and I never told her.

The line was moving surprisingly fast and luckily only a people asked for my autograph and for pictures. As we neared the front I could see them posing for pictures and signing autographs. Harry was taller and well hotter. Liam didn’t have Bieber hair anymore. Zayn’s hair was shorter. Niall’s hair was browner. And Louis. Louis hair was in a completely new do, but I liked it better. He still had the same smile and eyes though. I shook my head. He broke my heart. No way I was going to fall for him again.

We were three people away from them now. Emma would not stop talking. I said,”Emma I think you should just get an autograph and picture, I’ll wait over there.” “Aunt Libby I want to be in a picture with you. Please??”, she asked. “Sorry but really I’ll just wait over there.” Emma walked calmly up to them and I walked quickly passing by their table and standing by the exit. I could hear Liam say, “Hello love, what’s your name?”. I could tell Emma was dying inside. Emma said, “ Hi I’m Emma Smith... and I love your music!” I shook my head she was way too obsessed with these guys. “Is that your sister?”, I heard Harry ask. I almost stopped breathing, please say I’m a stranger. “Nah, she’s my Aunt Libby.”, Emma replied still smiling. “I don’t think she’s a fan. She didn’t want a picture, no offense.”, she babled on. “None taken.”, said Liam, always the classy one. “I want to meet her, if that’s alright with her.”, said Harry. Seriously? Did they not recognize my name? Libby Smith. “I can ask her.”, Emma said. Ugg. I started to turn to walk away get out of here. “Libby WAIT!!”, Emma shouted. I turned around. This is not going to be pretty.

Liam’s POV

Harry needs to stop being such a flirt. Seriously, Emma’s aunt who didn’t even want to meet us? He thinks every girl will automatically fall for him with just a flip of the curls. I saw Emma run over to her Aunt. Her aunt was shaking her head and crossing her arms. Then I saw Emma give her the puppy dog face and her Aunt Libby, I think started to walk over. As she walked over something clicked in my head. Freckles, wavy brown hair, tall, quirky and cute sense of style, named Libby Smith. How could I be so stupid? That wasn’t a Libby Smith, that was the Libby Smith, the movie star, the actrice, and that Louis broke her heart.

I remembered coming to Louis’s flat to see him and the door being answered by tear stained blue eyes she had a suitcase in her hands and was ready to walk out the door. I had asked her what was wrong. She had cried into my shoulder for a good 15 minutes explaining in between sobs that she had seen Louis with another girl. She told me to tell him that she had loved him and that he just must not love her back. She said to tell him that it was ok and that she wished he would have just told her they were through because she would have walked away and left. Louis hadn’t been the same for months. He felt like he’d left the one get away and we all knew that it was true. Libby had been perfect for him. We tried to get them back together, but as bad as Louis was heartbroken, Libby was worse. She wouldn’t eat or sleep she was a mess. She told me that she couldn’t see Louis again that it would break her heart. So I left her alone. In a year we would see her on the cover of all the magazines. She was doing alright and so were we. I hadn’t talked to her in three years, none of us have.
