Losing and gaining

Chapter 12
-TWO MONTHS LATER-
Peyton's pov
Nialls and my relationship has been going well. We've gone on a couple more dates, and have kissed a few times, but nothing more than that. I'm a little disappointed, I was hoping he'd ask me out. The end of the day bell brang me back from my thoughts, and I headed to my locker. Valentines day was at the end of the week, and with it came the dance. When I opened my locker, dozens of letters came pouring out. They all were asking me to the dance. I chuckled lightly to myself before leaning down to pick them up. As i did so, I felt a sharp slap on my butt. I turned around quickly to see Mike. I inwardly groaned and stuttered, "h-hey mike. What's up?"
"You, me, valentines dance.ill meet you there. " he said, then turned around. "And by the way, nice butt. " I blushed. There was no way I was going to the dance with that creep! He scared me. I turned back to my locker and jumped slightly. Niall was standing there grinning. "Hey Niall. "
"Hey Peyton, what's up?"
"Not much. Mike just asked me to the dance. Well, not asked, he kind not stated that we were going together. "
"What?!? That creep." Niall said, and with a tint of jealousy, I might add. When was he going to ask me? It drove me crazy. I scooped up the letters and shoved them back into the locker before slamming it shut. We walked to my car and he got In drivers side with me in passenger. We still pretended as if it was his.
We pulled up in front of his house and we got out so I could go in the drivers seat and he could go home. But a thought occurred to me. "Hey Niall, want to go out tonight?" Why not have me ask him to the dance? There's no law stating that boys had to ask girls. I would ask him tonight. "Um sure that'll work. " he said confused on why I had asked him. I only smiled and drove home.
Nialls pov
I didn't have the guts to ask her. I mean, she was so pretty, and had pretty much every guy in school asking her, how would I know if she'd choose me or not? I've never been turned down before and was scared that it might happen. I prepared for our date tonight still confused on why she had asked me. Oh well, a dates a date!
She pulled up in front of my house and I went out and got in. "Hi Pey, you look nice."
"Thanks Ni" she beamed, using a nickname like I used for her.
We entered the fancy Italian restraunt. I froze kneeing I couldn't afford this. She sensed my worry and assured me that supper was on her. The waiter showed us the table, winking at her as he pulled out the chair for her. I could only glare at him as r got our drink orders. "So Niall," Peyton started, resting her face on her tiny hands, "I have something to ask you. " we were interrupted by the waiter with our drinks. We both ordered our food from the menu and he left again, but not without winking at Peyton again. Man, he was getting on my nerves fast! I turned back to Peyton and cleared my throat. "So what did you want to ask me?"
"Well, I was going to ask you to go to the dance with me, but I'm not anymore. " I frowned, and looked down with disappointment. Inside, it felt like my heart was broken. She obviously found someone else to take her. I couldn't afford a tux anyway.
"Niall," she placed her hand on mine and looked into my eyes with concern. "I didn't want to ask you to the dance because I had something better in mind. Niall, will you be my boyfriend?"
I was too shocked to answer, so I pulled her in for a kiss.
"So I'll take that as a yes than!" She said with a laugh.
I laughed too and smiled.
Just then the waiter came up with the food. "Here sir is your meal, and to the beautiful lady here, here is your meal and my number. "
I was about to interject but Peyton beat me to it.
"Thanks but I already have a boyfriend." She winked at me. He looked down , embarresed, before nodding and scurrying away. The rest of the night went smoothly, and before she dropped me off, we shared a passionate kiss. It was perfect.
