Moving To England

Chapter Nine

*Destiny’s POV*
*Same Day*

The truck delivers had brought in all of the kitchen furniture and supplies. The deliverers brought in all the heavy appliances, while Dad and I brought in all the lighter objects and put them away.

“Heck of a boy, no?” Dad commented with a chuckle, as I helped him bring in the things he bought.

"Yeah, I guess." I nodded, the corners of my mouth twitching, as I tried to fight off a smile.

“Do you like him?” Dad questioned me, with a smirk and raised his eyebrow.

“Oh, come on, Dad! You’ve got to be kidding me.” I rolled my eyes.

“What?! It is an honest question.” Dad insisted.

“Uhm, Dad, no. That's impossible we only met today.” I exclaimed as I put away the plates in the cabinets.

“Love at first sight?” Dad suggested.

“Oh ew, Dad. Please. That does not exist. I don’t believe in that.” I went on.

“But, that’s how I fell for your mum.” Dad dreamingly said, “it was the summer before 10th grade …”

“… Mom moved into the house right in front of this one. Then, once you laid eyes on her, you stalked her for days on end. You finally found the courage to ask her out the day before prom.” I imitated his voice, teasing Dad.

“Oh, be quiet.” Dad hushed me, waving his hand as he walked away with a sour, look on his face, “What’s your other reason?”

“Oh yeah. Well, like I have never fallen in love before. Therefore, I highly doubt I can fall in love with someone, that easily.” I explained.

“Things might change here. They did change for me.” Dad said, referring to mum, again. “You know what they say, England is the country of love!”

“Dad, no. Stop. That’s France, Dad. Fraanncee.” I said, rolling my eyes as I mocked by stretching the country's name.

“Oh, same thing!” Dad said, rolling his eyes as he walked away.

By 6 pm, everything was brought in and unpacked. Everything was where it belonged.

"All we need now is the bedroom furniture and the living room furniture, then we are all set!" Dad pointed out sleepily, as all his energy was drained out and the two of us collapsed onto the wooden floor of our empty living room.

“Why don’t you go wash that blue paint off yourself? Freshen up, and then we'll go out and run those little errands. We can't fall asleep just yet, we have we get accustomed to the time zone of this country.” Dad suggested.

“Urgh!" I groaned, yawning as I struggled to get back on my feet and wobbled to the bathroom.

'Good God! I look like a monster.' I thought to myself in dismay. I was so drained out, bags and dark grey circles formed underneath my eyes. My hair was a complete disaster in its crooked ponytail. To top it all off, there was blue paint nearly all over my body.

Taking a quick shower, changing into a fresh pair of clothes, and applying a little bit of makeup, I met up with downstairs, ready to go out.

Getting in the car, we drove off in the afternoon light.

"New country. New life. Fresh start, right? So why not get a fresh start on everything, yeah?" Dad asked, with a hopeful look lighting up his face.

"Yeah, I guess. What are you talking about?" I questioned my father, confused as to what he was trying to point at.

"I was thinking, we sell our old phones, in exchange for new ones. What do you say?"

"That sounds like a great deal!" I exclaimed in glee, causing Dad to chuckle and nodded his head in agreement.

Driving to the nearest big mall with an Apple Store, we blasted the radio and sang along happily.
