Moving To England

Chapter Two

*Destiny’s POV*
*Next Morning*

“Destiny! Get up! It’s your last day of school!” Dad called from the kitchen, “You don’t want to late do you?” just at the moment my alarm went off –COCKA DODAL DOOOOOOO –

“AHHH!!!” I screamed jumping up, - COCA – “Oh shut up!” I groaned, slamming my hand on the clock to shut it off. I stumbled my way into the washroom.

'I look like a mess!' I thought to myself, with a sigh. My hair was all tangled, eyes looked droopy and small. My vision was buried, and I was still tired.

'Funny how I am tired in the morning when I wake up and full of energy in the night before I go to sleep.' I thought to myself with a little chuckle.

I slowly climbed into the bath tub.

'This would be my last shower in this tub' I realised.

I don't know if it is only myself or is people just accustomed to one bathtub. There is this feeling of awkwardness when using some other tub.

Closing my eyes, I enjoyed my shower, the feeling of the warm water rolling down my skin felt relaxing. I always begin my day with a nice warm shower. Otherwise, I would feel gross throughout the whole day.

I threw on the outfit that I had laid out the night before and applied a little eyeliner and mascara.

I hopped downstairs, feeling all bubbly and happy, not knowing the reason for this peace of mind.

“Morning, Angel!" Dad smiled, drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper. “You look happy.” He was in his bathrobe. He had no work today, so I guess he’ll be chilling at home for the rest of the day. Otherwise, he will probably finish some last-minute errands.

“Morning, Dad.” I smiled, grabbing some toast and bacon for breakfast. I sat down at the kitchen table with him. “Yeah, I know, but I don’t know, though. I just have a feeling today. A good one.”

“That’s nice, Darling.” Dad giggled. “Hey, destiny, look at this. It sounds like a TTC driver crashed into a 14-year-old girl yesterday.”

“What! That’s horrible.” I exclaimed I looked over Dad’s shoulder to read the article while finishing my breakfast. It read: 'The 14-year-old girl killed in an alleged hit and run involving a TTC bus is being described by friends as “beautiful, kind and intelligent.” America Diljohn, 14, was struck and killed by a bus on the south-east corner of Finch Ave. E. and Neilson Rd. on Friday around 5:40 p.m., Toronto Police said –'.

“Blame it on September. Cause it hurts to remember. We can fight to hold on. But August is gone. When the sun falls.” my alarm went off. I kept it to remind me that I could not be late for school. The song I put on for the alarm was 'Blame it on September', 'cause it's a perfect description match to the school year since school begins in September and ends our summer vacation.

I ran to my room and grabbed my backpack. It felt lighter than. Usually, just the way I liked it - it meant no homework!

I kissed my Dad goodbye, before heading out.

“Remember, today I am going to pick you up after school. Nicki’s father offered to take us to the airport since we sold our car last week.” Dad reminded me.

“Yeah okay, Dad. My suitcases are right next to my door, by the way.” I replied, “Love you! See you later, Dad!”

“Bye, Honey!” Dad called me as I left. I ran to the garage to get my bike. Shocked to find it completely empty when I opened it until I remembered that everything in the garage was sold last week, including my bike.

"Looks like I am walking today," I said to myself, out loud.

I took out my iPhone and my headphones out of my bag. Plugging the headphones into my ears and the headphone socket, I turned on my favourite playlist.

The first one was: Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole.

I loved the song. It is basically about dreams and wanting to find more to life, a happier place. I found it from the movie Wizard of Oz, it was sung at the beginning of the film by Dorothy.

“Someday I'll wish upon a star. And wake up where the clouds are the farm. Behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops. Away above the chimney tops. That's where you'll find me.” I quietly sang along to the song.

After two more songs, I had arrived at my high school. It is huge, but this year, I become accustomed to it. I knew every student in our grade even a couple of the older students, who go here.

“Hey, Destiny!’ Moe called to me.

“Hey, Moe!” I waved back.

“Can you believe it?” Moe asked as we made our way to our friends, Nicki, Sid and Diego, “It's finally the last day of school. Thank god! I couldn't remember another day in this hell hole!”

“I know.” I sighed, “But, next year I'll be roaming around a different school. Even a whole different continent!" We had reached our little group by the time I had finished my sentence.

“Why look so glum?” Diego asked.

“You know exactly why, Diego.” I nagged.

“I know.” Diego sighed, shaking his head.

“Why don’t we, all do something, together?” Moe suggested.

“I think that’s a grand idea. This is your last time with us, Destiny.” Sid added.

“We could go out, after lunch!” Nicki exclaimed.

“I ain’t skipping school, even if it’s the last day.” I shook my head.

“You won’t have to. Remember all our classes will end early today. We only got three hours of school today.” Moe reminded us.

“Oh my gosh! How I could I forget!” I felt so stupid for forgetting, good thing I had some cash in my bag.

“Oh yeah! I forgot, too.” Sid laughed.

“This is going to great!” Nicki exclaimed.

“RIIIING!” the school bell went off.

“Let’s go to class. We'll see you two later!” Diego waved to us as he, Sid and Moe walked to their class.

“Bye. See yeah!” Nicky and I waved back, as we made our way to class.

Nicki and I had the first two classes together. We had Sid in our second-period class. Moe, Diego and I have class together in our third-period class and last period with Moe.

“So, what do you want to do first, once we get there?” Nicki asked me.

“I thought we could I get each other something?” I suggested.

“Like Secret Santa in the summer?" Nicki asked.

"Mhmm. More like Christmas." I explained.

"Oh! What fun! Yeah, let's do that." Nicki exclaimed, making me giggle, “I am going to text that to them.”

“Then, we could have lunch, and do something else.” I thought.

“Oh! I know, we could go to the game centre, that's there!” Nicki suggested.

“Yes! Text that to them, as well. Also, add that we could go roaming around the mall.” I added quickly, as we reached our homeroom.

Class ended at 12, and we were at the Eaton centre by 1 30. We ate at “Pizza Pizza”, ordering one large pizza and one drink for each of us. Then, we split up for an hour and then meet up back up at a Starbucks in that mall.

“Let’s exchange gifts now!” Sid exclaimed as we sat down with our Starbucks orders.

I gave Sid the new book he had been asking for. Moe got new headphones from me, and I gave Diego that video game he had been whining about for ages. Finally, I gave Nicki a necklace, which is a charm hanging on it.

Afterwards, we went to the game center and completely forgot what the future held for us.

We had a blast!
