Moving To England

Chapter One

*Destiny’s POV*
*June 22/Canada*
“It’s going to be incredible Destiny!” Dad declared, waving his arms in the air, above him, frantically.

“Dad, it won’t be amazing. We are going to a whole new country!” I argued, “And plus they a have this accent, which we won’t be able to understand what they are saying half the time! We are Canadian, not British, Dad!”

“Destiny, look at me.” Dad sighed, loudly. I could tell he was getting angry, “We have no choice. My job is forcing us to move there. We have to, there is no way to work around this.”

“Why not! We could think of something; I could start working too!” I cried.

Dad cupped his hands around my cheeks and held them gently.

“Listen, Angel. Everything will work itself out. You’re great at making new friends. Don’t make this any harder than it already is, please.” Dad calmly explained. I could tell he was trying to hold his anger in.

I huffed, “Fine, if that’s all we can do then …” trailing off, I began to cry.

“Angel, everything will be alright, I promise.” Dad hugged me tightly, “I feel it will be best for all of us. Different and change is better sometimes.” Dad quickly wiped a tear away from my eye, “Now go upstairs and pack up, the movers’ truck will be here in just two or three hours. We leave tomorrow afternoon, right after you are done your school.”

I slowly made my way upstairs, dad stopped me halfway up the stairs.

“If you don’t like the house, and the neighbourhood after two months we will come back,” Dad said. My eyes and heart lightened up a bit because I know I am going to hate the place all my life. “But just so you know, we are British!”

“Okay!” I said, completely ignoring the last thing dad had mentioned.

‘It is going to be a summer vacation,’ I thought to myself, as I skipped up to my bedroom.

I had boxes full of my things laying around all over my room. Carefully, I took all the boxes down to the living room. As I took the last box to the living room, one of my books fell out. Placing the box down in the living, next to the rest of them, I ran back to where the book had fallen.

Picking it up, I realised it was my photo album. Sitting crossed legged in the middle of the hallway, where I had found the photo album, I flipped through the pages, admiring the memories I had created with my friends and family over the past few years.

A broad smile crept across my face. I saw of picture of my squad – myself, Nicki Smith, Sid Brown, Diego Young and Moe Long. I smiled and giggled at our funny faces. I flipped the page and saw a picture of mum, dad and me. I brushed my hand over it, and a tear escaped my eyes.

‘Memories, they are so beautiful.’ I thought to myself.

My mum had gone to Spain to my grandma and grandpa because my grandma is terribly sick. Dad and I would’ve gone with her, but I had still had school, so the plan was that she would just meet us in England.

On top of my parent’s jobs moving them to England, this neighbourhood seems to be falling apart. Mum and dad don’t think it's safe here anymore, so they are taking me back to where I was born, England. I honestly, did not feel like making new friends, it just won't be the same, it sucks.

But life is life, right. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe in time, it will be everything I ever wanted.

Or possible everything that I don’t want.
