Diana(ON HOLD)

Chapter six



“Hey! Are you alright? You were the one sending SOS , right? Arthur it wasn’t Diana. “
The glowing wolf eyes happened to be two lamps like my own in hands of two men on horses, each pulling another horse.


“Yeah, I guess Brian is going crazy by now. Let’s take these fellows home and come back to look for her again, she knows how to protect herself, at least better than these folks. What happened to you boys? “


The other man who looked older asked this, I have no idea if he was insulting or said it without intention but dude, we had nothing to protect ourselves so don’t judge. It’s not like we stick in a storm every day as a daily routine. But I sucked it up and answered him anyway.


“ Our private jet crashed here on this cliff. If Diana didn’t come to save us we were dead by now in the explosion.”


“Wait! You said Diana?!! Is she with you? Is she alright? Di? Di? “


The younger boy asked with a hint of relief and excitement. Cool off bro, not perfect news. I wonder how should I tell, she seems to be very important to the boy.


“She… is. She uhh… saved us all, but after that she tripped and fell hitting her head on the stone, and well…, she… she went unconscious…”


“ She what? Di ? Diana? This is not a funny joke girl. I swear if you got this fellow to trick us…damnit. “


The younger one jumped down the horse and ran around frantically looking for Diana . Yup, he sure is related to her.


“ Brian is going to go out of his mind but that’s not what matters now. Let’s get you somewhere safe. Is there anyone with serious injuries or unconscious? “


The elder one asked. His tone while saying the last part reminds me of a doctor. Maybe he is the villages paramedic. Too much of drama Liam, I guess all these things worked on my mind, it seriously feels like living an action movie.


“ Yes, one of my friends lost a lot of blood from his leg being broken and torn apart. The bone was poking out of the skin, broken by a metal piece, but Diana did some actions and stopped the bleeding and relocated the bone. Another one has broken arms and fractured wrists that Diana relocated and Louis has breathing difficulties with Niall having cuts all over his arms and face. I’m fine myself but Harry had bruised and cut palms and stretched wrist joints that Diana bandaged.” I instructed fast.


“ Hmm, okay. Where are the others then? “


“ I told them to hide cause I thought the lights from your flashlights were …uhh… reflection of my flashlight’s rays in a… wolf’s eyes, ya know… I was here to defend my friends with Niall helping me to, well… blind the supposed to be wolf…”


I explained embarrassed of my dumb imagination. But hey, it was a possibility in this wild area, wasn’t it? The younger fellow let out a chuckle and patted my shoulder in a friendly way.


“You did almost blind the wolves bro, trust me.”


I smiled weakly. He was right, Niall was almost digging the flashlight into their eyes.


“ It’s fine. If I tell you’ve been through a lot of shock and hysteria by the jet crash, being a little imaginative is quite an understandment. Now call your friends over so we can take you somewhere safe.”


“Okay. Guys it’s okay to come out. They’re here to help us.”


I called out and Niall disappeared behind me. When I turned around I saw him help Simon while Louis was trying to carry Zayn. I walked toward him and pulled Zayn over my back and carried him toward the man named Arthur. Zany was moaning and raving nonsence . I put him down and Arthur jumped down from the back of his horse. He crouched down beside Zayn and studied his leg.


“ Well done Di. I couldn’t have done it any better, it’s an awesome bandaging.”

He said more to himself than us and placed a hand on Zayn’s forehead.

“ Holly Christ! He has a fever. A very high temperature. Hurry up, put him on the horse behind me, where is Diana?”

And then Harry appeared from darkness with Diana in his arms, wrapped in the blanket and the plastic cover. He was looking down at her, pressing her against his chest like a new born.


“ Di! “


Jake yelled and ran toward Harry, trying to get her out of his arms but Harry’s eyes went wide and he walked a few steps backward pushing her to his chest even more, his breathing turning shallow and rapid.


“ Dude! Let him do it. He has been in a bigger shock than all of us and isn’t letting any of us touch her. If you get her from him, he’ll fall apart.”


Louis said walking toward them wrapping an arm around the frightened Harry protectively.


“ But she is my sister, it’s my job to take care of her- “


“ Jake! Leave the poor guy alone! He’s taking good care of her, better than what he does to himself. Don’t put him under pressure. I’m sure he can carry her.”


Arthur said in a demanding voice. He should be his uncle or something, too young to be his dad.


“ But-… okay. You better keep her safe fellow. She means a lot to me.”


Jake said in a softer tone. I can tell he’s a nice guy. Protective, but not the judging type.


“ Okay guys. Since we have four horses and nine people, I’ll have to walk and you guys hop on the horses to keep injuried ones up- “


He was cut off when Diana’s black horse walked toward Harry as if he was waiting to show in the right time.


“ Moonlight! Has he been here? He hasn’t escaped?”


Jake said in an astonished tone while helping Niall with getting Simon up the horse.


“ No. he ran up the hill after the first thunder but returned and stayed glued beside Harry and Diana, protecting them from the rain. He’s such a calm horse.”


I told him and his eyes grew the size of saucers.


“ Calm?! I mean to DI yeah! But what Moonlight is afraid from the most is storm, that’s why I brought a spare horse and so did Arthur when we met each other on the way here. Moonlight is loyal to DI, but when there’s a storm he can’t stand it and runs away.That’s so unusual. It’s wired he stayed here tolerating all thunders and lightning.”


He explained while caressing Moonlight’s forehead.


“ So that’s why he neighed and stood on his back feet and ran away at first. But he came back like if someone called him and stayed beside Harry, making funny noise over Diana’s head touching her face.”Louis told him.


“ Did she make him promise?” Jake asked.


“ she said something in his ear, I don’t know what but he seemed to obey whatever it was.”


Jake nodded his head in understanding and patted Moonlight’s neck.


“ Hmm, okay. Now we have enough horses. But Who’s gonna hop on Moonlight? He never gives a back to anyone but Di.”


Moonlight answered Jake himself, pushing Harry with his nose beside his saddle. I swear this horse could’ve spoken if he had the tongue. He’s so smart.


“ Sure, why didn’t I think about that Bo.”

Jake said sarcastically and hit Moonlight’s neck playfully as he snorted in respond.


“ Do you know how to ride him?”

Jake asked Harry and he shook his head.

“But how can he ride then ?”

He asked. But Moonlight pushed Harry again stubbornly, like if he was saying ‘ none of your business, I’ll take care of them. I know where to go anyways.’ I swear this horse is as stubborn as Harry at some points.


“ I got it boy, okay! Okay ! hop on dude.”

Jake said holding his hands up in surrender.


“Harry, give her to me. I’ll place her before you when you’re on the saddle.”


I told him holding my arms out to get Diana. Harry seemed hesitant at first his eyes wandering between my stretched arms, Diana’s face and Jake but then nodded and placed her in my arms carefully .


He placed his foot in pedal trying to pull himself up the giant tall horse, did I mention Moonlight was much taller than all the horses here?


Moonlight helped Harry by placing his head under his arse and pushing him up. Once Harry was settled, feet in pedals and Jake wrapped the rein around the saddle bow so he didn’t need to guide Moonlight, Harry’s arms stretched toward me.


I placed Diana’s petite frame between his arms, settling her there securely as he wrapped her tightly in his arms. I bet there’s no place safer than where she is right now for her in this world.


“ Be careful Moonlight, it’s not Diana riding. Take care yourself boy.”


Moonlight neighed with closed mouth in respond and Jake patted his neck.


“ Good boy.”


Then he turned to us satisfied and asked.


“ Does any of you know how to ride a horse ?”


“ I do. I’ve done that a couple of times.”

I told him and he smiled.


“ Okay. Since Arthur is holding the injuried one on his back. I’ll have this elder dude since I can manage to keep him on horse with his broken arms. You two,” He pointed to Niall and Louis,


“ –Hop on Ruby, he’s calm and tame. You should be able to hold yourselves on the horse when you’re both there, holding each other on the horse. It’ll be easier and you dude, hop on Jupiter. He’s good and you can help this young dude hold Di on Moonlight. Ride beside him and help him if he has difficulties keeping her on saddle.”


He instructed me and I helped Lou and Niall on the other horse and pulled myself on the other one, though with difficulties. It had been a while since I’ve last ride on a horse. But anyway I’m glad I took those classes, they come in handy now.


“ All on horses? Hold on tight, we’re gonna climb a hill. Ready? Tap your heels on horses’ sides, here we go. HEY!”


He shouted and we started to gallop up the hill. Moonlight was moving so fast I couldn’t keep up beside him with this speed. I tapped my heels more forcefully and I was galloping beside him, though his movements were different. Jupiter was a good horse but Moonlight was something else, he was different. He stepped on soft land, his movements were so soft and smooth yet very strong and impressive.


He was so careful though to his fast speed, he kept his balance so great like a feather floating on water. Unlike the other ones that were mashed on the saddle, Harry was kneeling forward holding Diana, almost standing like a professional horse rider. I guess it was kinda Moonlight guiding him with his own body moves. It seemed like they had a kind of connection together, maybe their both attachment to Diana caused it. It seemed like they formed a bond in such a short time.


Heavy rain drops were hitting our backs while we were moving windward , it didn’t hit our faces thankfully. How big could this plain be? It’s so wide and many hills are on the way but not much trees or bushes to reduce the wind force.


After what seemed like forever we were galloping down the last hill, toward a plain are, a couple of dim lights visible in a distance. Thank god. We got closer and closer, small lights turned into two huge houses in two farms side by side.


Jake and Arthur slowed down as we got closer followed by our horses and we finally stopped our trot inside the first farm. I let out a sigh of relief, we’re finally somewhere safe. All my muscles are itching, screaming for a hot water bath.


Niall lets out a squeak and tries to get down from the horse back, but his feet wouldn’t reach the ground as he stayed dangling from the horse’ side.


“ C’mon, let go Niall. You’re only a foot away from the ground.”


Louis ushered him just to be responded by a hard head shake. Jake walked toward them and said


“ Here, I got you. Step on the ground.”


And he picked Niall and placed him on the ground. Wow, he has the strength. Jake walked away to help Simon muttering something about ‘ City fellows’ and how some of them are afraid of jumping down a pony.


I jumped down the horse and moved toward Harry, holding my arms out for him to place Diana in them, but to my surprise he hoped to his foot with Diana still in his arms. I guess our little Harry was stronger than I thought.


I helped Arthur with Zayn and held him on my back while Jake helped Simon to his feet and Louis and a red blushing Niall went to help him as well.



Suddenly the front door opened and three females rushed out, two young girls and an elder one.


“ Oh dear saint Mary! What happened?”


The older lady gasped and ran toward us When she saw Zayn’s drenched in blood leg.


“ Take him inside the kitchen and put him on the dining table.” She ordered.


“ Where is Diana Jake? You went to find- Oh my gosh! Di! “


The blonde girl gasped when she saw the long wet tail of hair hanging from the blanket in Harry’s arms that was Diana and rushed toward him.


“ What happenedto her? Why is she unconscious? Oh god, it’s all my fault.”


She shrieked and began crying. Jake and the ginger girl rushed toward her.


“ No Jess, it’s not your fault. Calm down sis. She’s gonna be okay. It’s Di, remember? She survived a mental break down leading to melancholia. She’s too tough to give up on something small like this. She’s survived from worse.”


Jake hugged the trembling girl who was crying hysterically. The ginger girl guided Harry inside the house and we all followed behind.


Jess was still crying beside Jake but not as hard. We entered a kitchen and Zayn was laid on a huge table. Harry laid Diana beside him tenderly and stood beside her like a frozen statue holding her hand.


Arthur came beside Zayn undoing his leg’s bandage observing the injuries, examining it as a doctor.


“ She did a great job, I can’t do anything more. He needs to be under hospital care soon or he might loose his leg.”


He said redoing the bandage and washing his hands in the sink. I guess he really is a doctor or paramedical. He moved to Diana, bending down beside her head and turned it aside examining the back of her head. A frown formed on his forehead and I could see Harry tense beside him from the lack of Diana’s face’s view. Not to blame, he’s been staring at her face for hours now and it sure was a pretty sight.


“ She hit her head badly. It’s a very sensitive spot above her spine around her memorial parts and it’s badly damaged. If we don’t get her to hospital it might cause serious damage and I don’t have any C.T. Scan or Radiology pictures to say how much is it damaged by now neither. All I can tell is that she needs to be taken to hospital and soon! “


Arthur explained with sadness and Jake’s crying increased again. Ginger girl who was wrapped in Jake’s arms started to sob quietly as well.


“ Brian is so going insane if he finds out. Mom, call him and tell him she’s with us but don’t tell him she’s like this. We’ll take her to the hospital along with that fellow.”


Jake said while rubbing his girl’s arm, sighing. His mom nodded and went to make a call.


“ I’m sorry Di. I’m so sorry…”

Jess sobbed and Niall moved toward her, putting a hand on her shoulder rubbing it friendly, being the kind hearted boy he is. Jess suddenly hugged him tightly taking him by surprise and Niall let out a squeak but held her lightly anyways.


Harry was sitting on the bench beside Diana’s lifeless body holding her hand tightly. He placed is forehead on her chest and clenched his eyes shut. He was breathing rapidly and I realized his hair was still wet, his curls sticking to his forehead or dripping on Diana’s pale skin or blouse. Poor boy should be in a living hell that no one can get him out now.


Suddenly a petite short brunette girl with light jade eyes walked in. her hair in a side ponytail. She had black marks under her eyes and dry tears could be seen on her pale freckly face, like if she had been crying for a long time. Her look was so solid and lifeless and she blinked rarely. Her gaze reminded me of a birds eye and she looked so moody, her lips in a small frown.


Her emotionless scanned the room looking at each of us with a hint of curiosity and stopped on Diana, her eyes widening. She stood there frozen in her spot, not even moving a millimeter.


“ D-D-Dia…”


It came out as a whimper. A tear streamed down her cheek and she began to tremble, still gazing at the lifeless beauty on the table.


“ Dia…no no no…I did it again, didn’t I ? I hurt her once more…DIA…”


She shrieked this time making us wince. Jeez woman. You can scream a bit quietly. Why is everyone acting like this? She most be really important to all these people. She sure would if she had the kind heart And bravery to stay and save us from such a situation. But why is everyone blaming themselves on her getting her? Weird.


The girl in Jake’s arms rushed toward her and held her from falling which wasn’t unexpected the way her body trembled.


“ Shh… No Katie, it’s okay. She’s gonna be okay. You know Di is too stubborn to give up with such small things. She’s survived worse damages, remember? We’re taking her to hospital- “


She was interrupted by Jake who roared angrily.


“ What do you mean WE? You are not coming. There’s only space for 8 in my land cruse and I’m taking these guys for check up too. And besides, it’s too dangerous to take you, it’s fucking storm outside. There, I’m not taking you either.”


He looked at his sister’s hopeful face and emphasized


“ None of you. “


“ But-“


“ No buts. Stay here with mom and help her with Brian if he comes. “


Gosh, this boy had the power o men in 16th century.


“ Sigh… Okay Jake.”


The ginger girl said and pecking his cheek and rushed to his side helping him with Zayn and I went to help them carry him the way Arthur instructed, and we went out of room passing by Katie on our way out, still frozen and sobbing. I guess this one isn’t as much as an eye candy as Diana. It seems she cries so much so people put it in second priority to calm her down.
Jess opened the door for us and the sound of heavy rain that have been faint inside welcomed us once again. A heavy lightning shone followed by a booming thunder, vibrating the glass on the windows. We walk to a black land cruse parked in the corner of the yard.


Jess opened the door again and I climbed up, sitting on one of back benches laying Zayn’s head on my lap. Harry, soaking again, followed me with Diana in his arms and did the same with her. Louis, Niall and Simon squeezed in the middle section and Jake jumped in the driver seat with Arthur beside him.


“ Drive carefully Jake, the road is all slippery. And bring Di back healthy, and… take care.”


Jake’s girl leaned inside and pecked his lips good bye. I wish Dani was here with me now.


“ Bye Maddie. Take care of yourselves …and Katie.”


He said the last part with a meaningful look and started the car.

“ Bye my love.”


And we drove off.


The road was swimming in mud and rain was too heavy like if an invisible hand is stitching the sky to the ground. I wonder if we can make it alive.


I glanced out the window toward the hills we came from before Jake took a left turn. There on the hill was a man , standing beside a motorcycle. I turned to look at it again to see if it was work of my imagination , but he was gone.
