Alayna’s POV:
“And that’s why I’m asking you. Can we at least start all over again?” Another tear dropped from my eyes. “Harry, it’s not that easy.” I pulled my hand away then stood up.
“Then we’ll help each other out. Please, Alayna.” He stood up and took a step closer. “Harry, you don’t understand. It’s not going to happen ever.” He tilted his head out of confusion and I took a deep breath.
“I’m with someone already. I’m sorry, Harry.” I looked down and felt as if the world is crumbling under my feet. “Are you happy?” I looked up at him and stared at him bewilderment covering my face.
“What?” He didn’t move a bit; he stood there with great stance. “Are you happy with him? Does he make you forget all the worries in the world? Does he make you cry, not because you’re sad but because you’ve been laughing continuously for hours?” I thought about all of his questions hard enough and sighed. “Yes, he does. He absolutely does.” I played with the ends of my hair and shuffled my feet. “Really?” I looked at him and stood up straight. “Yes!” I looked him in the eye and he let out a huff.
“Then, I’m happy for you. I’m happy that you found your smile again.” I gave a faint smile then made my way back to the bakery. “Then I guess this is goodbye.” I turned around and waved. “Who said I was leaving?”
Harry’s POV:
“What?” She stopped on her tracks and was wide-eyed. “I’m not leaving.” She walked towards me and stopped an inch away from me.
“What are you going to do here?” She looked up at me and stared very hard at my eyes. “Exchange student program.” She took a step back and was clearly taken aback with shock.
“For a whole semester?” I shook my head and smiled. “For a whole year.” I looked at her, waiting for her to respond but it seems that I left her speechless. “Say something, please.” I walked towards her but she took another step back.
“This can’t be. No!” She shook her head and looked down. “Harry, you can’t stay here.” She made her way back to the store but I managed to grab her by the arm and spin her around. “Why can’t I, huh? It’s not like I’m going to bother you.” She gave me an annoyed look and I let her go.
“It’s not like that. Can’t you just go somewhere else?” She sighed and I could see the guilt in her eyes. “I didn’t expect that you would have moved on that fast so I thought that this would have been great.” I took a step back and turned around.
“Wait, Harry. Look, I’m sorry. It’s just that ---” I turned around and I caught her by surprise. “It’s just that what?! It’s going to be hard for you?! It’s hard for me too, Alayna! If you think you had it hard well think again. I’ve been nothing but miserable!” I walked towards again and stopped. I could see in her face that she is now scared.
“Look, Alayna. If you’re bothered by me staying here then that’s good. It just gives me more reason to stay.” She tilted her head out of confusion and I gave out a smirk. “Why?” I took a deep breath and I could see that she was holding hers. “Cause that just means I still have a chance with you. You wouldn’t be so bothered if you have totally moved on but obviously not!”
