Shiver(narry)(Boyxboy)

"So, where are we going?" Niall asked, his feet up on my dash as I drove across the town to our destination. The sun was just barely beginning to set, and luckily we weren't too far from where I wanted to go.
"I already told you, that's a secret." I said, glancing at him from the corner of my eye. "Eyes on the road." "Why? You're so much more entertaining." "I don't want to die, I'm a little too young for that." "Eh, you're in your twenties." "Still too young Styles, I want to you know... Grow old and stuff." "Growing old is lame, I'd rather stay young forever." "Forever young, eh?" "Yeah... Nothing wrong with not wanting to grow up." "Never said there was, but you know that growing up is inevitable? Eventually you have to accept the fact you aren't going to live forever."
"When the time comes I'll accept it, but for now I'll relish in the fact I'm 20 and won't be getting old anytime soon." I shrugged, glancing at him again before turning back to the road. I was nervous now, worried that he wouldn't like it.
I was silently cursing myself for even considering this as a good idea. I never have good ideas. "Are we there yet?" Niall groaned, and for a second I wished he was groaning for a different reason. Get yourself together Styles! Now is not the time. "Yeah, just a minute or so."
"You sure? There's nothing but hills, and... Is that a lake I see? You're not taking me away from civilization to kill me, are you?" I snorted at that, turning off the paved road onto a dirt one. I turned off the car the beginning though, the road a little too rough to drive on.
"Come along Horan, we're taking a walk." I climbed out of the car, leaning against it as I waited for Niall to follow me. It took him a moment, and I almost laughed at the fact he was so hesitant. My palms were beginning to sweat now... I was nervous too.
"Promise me you aren't going to kill me?" He asked as he climbed out.
"Promise, besides in our town you'd be missed awfully soon. If I'm gonna kill someone, I'd at least make sure they weren't from the same town as me."
"Comforting."
"It's the honest to god truth babe, now let's get down to the lake before sun completely sets." We walked side my side, our arms occasionally bumping as we did so. It took every ounce of my self control not to grab his hand every time it hit mine, really I deserve a medal for this shit.
"How'd you find this place?" Niall asked once we got down to the shore of the lake. The sun was already painting it different shades of red and orange, making the glass lake a painting of pure beauty.
"My dad showed me it before he passed, said he'd been waiting for the perfect moment to show it to me. Apparently this is where he proposed to my mum." I sat down onto the sand, Niall joining me not even a second later. Together we watched the sun take it's decent down the sky.
"So... Tell me about yourself Harry Styles, what's something that nobody else knows?" Niall asked, his hand so close to mine I could feel the heat from it...
"Little soon for that, ain't it? I mean we just established we were friends a few days ago."
"I want to get to know you." Niall said, smiling at me.
"I'm sure you've heard everything about me by now... I mean we don't exactly live in a very secret filled community."
"It's different hearing it from the actual person."
"Good to know you see me as an actual person, really warms my heart." I grinned, looking into his blue eyes that seemed in even bluer in the fading daylight.
"Why were you so upset when you got home today? I mean... You're always smiling and cracking jokes, but you just seemed like you were close to tears."
"My asshole ex is back in town, and his mum won't leave me alone about it. She wants us to "rekindle" our friendship. She doesn't know we dated..." I picked at the hem of my shirt, refusing to look at him now.
"How does she not know you guys dated? I mean... The entire town knows everything about you."
"We didn't tell anyone, it was just between the two of us. It was nice actually, we didn't have people snooping into our business. We were friends before we were anything more, which I guess is how relationships start... but we just told everyone we were friends. He was probably one of the best boyfriends ever, he treated me like I was his entire world... I fell in love with him quickly and really he broke my heart just as quick."
"What happened? You don't have to tell me...."
"He cheated on me the night after I slept with him for the first time." My voice held no humor, my eyes watching the lake as the sun finally set on the horizon. It was silent, something I wasn't quite used to...
"I'm sor-"
"You don't need to apologize, you didn't know."
"Still, you're just like everyone else and people treat you like some sort of player. I get it now though... I guess your just trying to let everyone know how you feel... You know with your whole player side."
"It's not fair to other people, and I hate myself for it more times than not. I just... I can't just stop though, that's the problem." I finally turned to him to see that he was looking at me.
"Maybe you just need a reason to stop then..."
"I wish it was that simple." He started to lean in close to me, and for a second I thought that I was maybe imagining this. There was no way this was happening.
I wasn't dreaming though, that much was obvious when his lips finally landed softly on mine. He didn't kiss me for long, not that it mattered to me. I felt that time stopped... that in that moment it was just him and me on the shore of that lake.
"Well... Maybe I can be your reason."
