Stockholm Syndrome
Day Eleven
Days passed
One after the other
She forgot who she was
She knew it was over
The girl wasn't depressed
She wasn't made a fool of.
But she felt the worst feeling
She felt loved.
I wrote in my journal that Michael gave me this morning. I've been in my room writing all morning. Each of them has come in and asked me what I was up to. I'd say I was writing down my feeling, then they left. I felt like I was betraying them as I wrote more.
No matter how bad she wanted to run
How bad she wanted to cry
He was right beside her
Less and less she wanted to die
He treated her like no other
He made her smile
But every heart burns out
after a while.
The door creaked open and I slammed my journal shut. Calum smiled at me and I fake one back. He sat on the bed and watched me. I start to get uncomfortable. He just stared at one thing. It was like he was in some other world.
"Hey." I say. Heshot his head up at me, blinking several times. I cock my head at him.
"What's up, Cal?" I asked. His eyes were lost in mine.
"You know we love you right? You know we'd never intentionally hurt you." He pointed out. I nodded confusingly. What in the world is he going on about.
"Luke's coming in soon. He'll explain everything." Then he stood up and left. That was weird. I put my journal inside my pillowcase and wait for Luke. I'm not sure if we're dating but it sure feels like it. We can kiss each other and hold each other's hand. What else would that be?
"Chelsea?" I whip my head around to see Luke poking his head through the door. I smile wide and run up to him in a hug. I wrap my arms around his torso and bury my face in his chest. I take in his scent.
"Hey, Luke." I say. He hugs me with his whole body. Like I was going to slip away any second. He kissed the top of my head before walking me over to the bed. Luke held my hand.
"Tell me something. Would you leave if you could?" I feel my breath hitch in the back of my throat. I was not ready for that. I try to pull my hand away but Luke's grip tightens, telling me to stay.
"I-I don't know, Luke." I say truthfully. He nodded and pressed his lips to the back of my hand. I drink in the way he looked today. He was a wreck. Hair in all different directions, eyes a deeper shade of blue, face not as full of life. What's happening.
"Listen to me, sweetheart. I want you to write in the journal every single day. All of your feelings and everything that happened that day. Please do that."
"Why?"
"Just do it, okay?" I nodded slowly, still confused. Luke lays his head on my shoulder, gripping my hand hard but not hard enough to hurt me.
"Whatever you do, don't leave me on your own. You can leave if someone rescues you but please don't run away. It would hurt my heart even more that way. Don't be like the others." He says. Why does he keep doing this? He's acting like I'm going to run away in a few moments. Then it hit me.
"How many others were there before me?" I asked. He sat up to look me right in the eye. After a few moments he looked down at our hands.
"Two." I felt the need to gasp. 2?! I know about Ariana but what about the other one? He laced our fingers together, his hand swallowing mine whole.
"Grace and Alyx. We didn't change her name. She was the first one. I thought she liked me just as much as I did her. She ran away eleven days later..." That's why he's acting like this! I stare at him as he remembers Alyx. His thumb rubbed circles around the back of my hand.
"I'm still here, Lukey. I'm not leaving anytime soon." I promised. He kissed the tip of my nose before pulling me onto his lap. I straddle his torso and lay my head on his shoulder. Not another word came from us.
It felt like years since I was taken away. I've changed so much, too. I trust these boys. They haven't given me a reason not to. I've never known what it felt like to like someone as much as I like Luke. I've never kissed anyone besides him.
"Angel?" I hum in response. He put two fingers under my chin and lifted my face up so I was looked at him.
"Kiss me." I didn't hesitate. I press my lips to his softly, feeling the fireworks like the 4th of July. His hands rest on my hips and he pulls me closer to him, deepening the kiss. My stomach does a flip. Every time feels like the first time with Luke.
"Kiss me till your lips hurt. Love me till your heart can't. I wish you would be with me forever." He said against my lips before pressing them back. His words ran through my head as he pulled me closer to him, closing all spaces between us. I was so focused on those words that I forgot I was kissing him.
Luke released my lips and rests his forehead on mine. We were both out of breath. He smoothed out my hair, pecking my nose. He took out his phone and turned on some music. Terrible Things by Mayday Parade. He lays me down on the bed and I cuddle against his chest. Those words he said, though. They won't get out of my head.
"Tell me something, darling. When was the last time someone held you like I do?" He whispered in my ear. I shrugged, too shy to say I've never been held like this. He rubbed my back under my shirt, not doing anything unholy or anything. He just rubbed my back soothingly.
I sighed as he kissed all over my face. I felt like I was something special when I'm with Luke. i felt like if I ever let go, he'd hold on even harder. He kept me safe. I think I lo-
"Luke? They're here." I hear from behind me. Calum was standing at the door with the most pain on his face he's ever had. I sit up but Luke lays me back down.
"Not just yet, Calum. I'm not ready."
"You had 20 minutes, mate. It's time." I look between the two boys. Luke sighed and took my hand in his big ones. My heart was beating fast inside my chest.
"L-Luke... What's happening?" He stared at me, not a word escaping his mouth. I started to freak out. Who's here? Where they here for me?
"The police are here, baby." I stand up fast and stare at him with wide eyes. My heart finally exploded.
"What?!" I scream. He stands up with me and tries to grab my hand but yank away from him. How could he do this? They'll go to jail! I'll be taken away!
"Why, Luke?" I choked, tears streaming down my face. I can't go away. They can't take me. I won't let them.
"You deserve a better life. You said it yourself. You're a prisoner here. It's time for you to go." He said. The door was kicked open suddenly. I scream and hold onto Luke tight.
"FBI! Release the girl!" One of them yelled. I cried into Luke's shoulder. He buries his face into my neck.
"You have to let me go, angel."
"No! I'm not going to let them take you away!" I scream, tightening my grip. Luke looked me in the eye as a tear slid down his face
"Ariel. Let him go. You'll be safe with us." One of the police officers said.
"My name is Chelsea! I am safe here! Don't take me away from him!" I refused. Luke put his hands on my cheek and watched me intensely. Another tears slipped down his face.
"You have to let go, sweetheart." He croaked. I shook my head weakly. I can't believe he's telling me this right now. I can't believe he even called the police. A policewoman put her gun in her holster behind Luke.
"I can't let go of you, Luke. I told you I wasn't going to leave you anytime soon."
"You deserve better than me. Just let go and go with the policemen, baby." He said. I pressed my lips to his one last time before letting him go. One of the police men grabbed him forcefully, yanking his arms behind his back. He stared at me the entire time, pain in his eyes.
"If Luke goes wrong..." He mumbled. What did that mean? Tea stream down my face as he's pulled out of my room
