Saving Addison White (A famous Harry Styles fanfiction)

Chapter Two: Breakfast at Starbucks

When I woke up the next morning there was a familiar pounding in my head and there was pain in between my legs which meant I’d had sex the previous night but I just didn’t know with whom but I was determined to find out as the person was still lying next to me fast asleep and I knew this because I could hear soft snoring from their side of the bed. The previous night was a complete blur for me, I knew I’d been to a party with Demi even though it was against Naomi – my manager – is orders. I remembered drinking the first shot but the rest is a big blur for me, I couldn’t remember a single thing afterwards.

“Fuck,” I cursed under my breath when I tried to sit up and the blood rushed to my head. I was also temporarily blinded by the light coming in through the window from outside.

I wasn’t much of a morning person and the sun hurting my eyes had made me an even grumpier bitch. I was also very loud, which was why there was a loud racket as I looked around the bed for my phone. When I couldn’t find it I ran my fingers through my blonde locks and sighed when I came across a knot in my hair.

“Okay Addie,” I said softly. “Where did we leave that phone of yours…?”

A quiet groan came from beside me on the bed and I remembered that I didn’t actually know the person I’d gotten with the previous night. Harry was fast asleep on the bed besides me with his lips slightly parted as he rested.

Of all people I’d gotten with One Direction’s Harry Styles. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t stay any longer under the bedcovers because I was freaked out. I had rules and I stuck to those rules because they were there to keep me out of trouble.

I got out of bed and looked for the dress I was wearing at the club only to discover that there was a rip right through the middle of it so I got my baggie from it and I went over to Harry’s luggage where I looked for something to wear.

I got myself a black pair of jeans which were the perfect size, I found myself a white t-shirt for me to wear and I grabbed a fedora from the bag.

Once I was sorted, I scurried over to the bathroom and to the shower. I ran the water as I stripped out of my clothing and when the water was warm I got inside and used the bath oils to wash my body washing last night all off and feeling 100 times better.

I dried my body before quickly getting dressed. I used my fingers to untangle my hair then tied my hair into a messy high bun and since there was no make-up around I was going to embrace the dark rings around my eyes.

When I’d sorted myself out I laid two lines of coke on the bathroom counter and sniffed the white powder. I lifted my head and looked in the mirror to see if there was any powder on the tip. With my morning fix sorted and my scars on my wrists hidden I got out of the bathroom and found Harry sitting on the bed with a confused look on his face.

The minute he laid eyes on me his confused expression turned into a smirk and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Leaving so soon?” he asked in a hoarse voice from both the alcohol and sleep.

“That’s the plan,” I sighed and got onto my knees. “After I find my phone…” I started checking the floors. “When we were undressing each other where did we put my phone?”

“Maybe you left it at the club with the girl you were with…”

I furrowed my eyebrows. I didn’t know Harry had seen me at the club before we kissed. I looked under the bed, lifted all the pieces of clothing off it and I was just about to give up when…

“Found it!”

I whipped my head up and smiled when I saw my beautiful device in Harry’s hand.

“I’m going to give you this phone on one condition…”

I arched my eyebrows, not liking the sound of his preposition.

“You allow me to take you to breakfast or lunch…”

I had rules, rules that were there to keep me from trouble, there weren’t too many, just five, but they were everything I needed to help me live a stress free life. So far they’d been working just fine for me. They were as follows:

1. Never commit to anyone. That was the first and most important rule.

2. Never sleep with the same person twice because two times would lead to three times and possibly a relationship.

3. Never have breakfast with the person I have sex with… unless they were my boyfriend because well, we’re together.

4. Call Demi the second I woke up so that I could get out of there, there was nothing worse than an awkward conversation about what happened the night before.

5. Forget the hook-up ever happened to avoid any awkward encounters.

“Breakfast sounds great,” I blurted out before mentally kicking myself. I’d already broken both rule 3 and 4. “But I can’t stay long because I have to be at a meeting at one o clock,” I stated with a smile. It was a complete lie, after the previous night Naomi was going to call a meeting to scold me.

“It’s only…” he looked at the time on my phone. “It’s only 11, we’ve got time,” he got out of bed and walked to his luggage bag and he was fully naked. “Nice outfit by the way,” he teased as he rummaged through his bag.

“Shut up,” I quipped before walking over to the bed and watched him as he got dressed.

Soon he was dressed and good to go. We walked out of the bedroom and into the living room that was turned inside out… I looked at Harry with a quizzing expression on his face.

“Did we uh…?”

A smirk crept onto Harry’s face. “Come on, before Louis gets up,” he draped my arm over his shoulder and led me towards the suite door.

We left the hotel through the back and headed down the long and half empty road to the local Starbucks. A few paparazzi followed us on our little adventure down the road and every now and again a fan would come up to ask for an autograph from Harry.

We spoke the whole way to the Starbucks, not once mentioning the hook-up and the party last night. Just silly things until we reached the café where he handed me my phone back.

We got inside and split up, Harry went to order our drinks and I found us a table to sit. I switched my phone on and immediately t started pinging with messages from my twitter and texts. The first text being from Naomi and she didn’t seem to be happy with me… it was obvious in the tone of the text.

From: Naomi Time: 08:58 a.m.
My office today at two
o clock, you’re in trouble
for last night! You better
have a good explanation.

Annoyed with Naomi’s text I closed it and moved on to the next one which was from Demi who was 100 times calmer than Naomi was and it read:

From: Demi Time: 08:40 a.m.
Addison White, Naomi
is not very happy with you.
Where the hell are you?
Call me when you get this!

The messages were only making me more stressed. My response to both their messages before closing them both and focusing my attention on my twitter. The whole world – well Twitterverse – was buzzing about Harry and I being spotted together and it hadn’t been 24 hours yet.

I was reading the tweets when someone suddenly put my coffee in front of me. I looked up at Harry – who had a big smile on his face – and mumbled a little ‘thank you’ to him.

“Black coffee, no sugar just the way you like it,” he stated as he took his seat across from me. “Are you sure you don’t want to have anything to eat?”

My stomach started grumbling so I quickly took a sip of my hot coffee before Harry could hear it. The industry I worked in and the place that I lived in put a lot of emphasis on being really skinny and looking pretty. From a young age I’d learned to stay away from carbs and a whole of other things…

“No,” I said softly. “I’m fine…”

We made stupid small talk until ‘Chocolate’ by the 1975 started blaring in my speakers in my speaker disturbing our conversation.

“Demi…”

“Addison,” she sounded so relieved to hear my voice. “Where the hell are you? Everyone’s worried sick about you…” she explained. “Naomi called, she wants me to come pick you up so where the hell are you?”

“Starbucks,” I told her. “You don’t have to worry about me, really I’m perfectly fine,” I said, speaking the truth.

“You’re at Starbucks,” she laughed spitefully. “I’ll be there in 15 minutes to fetch you…”

“Fine,” I grumbled before hanging up. “Looks like I’m in trouble today.”

“Trouble for what?”

“Oh you know how it goes, you don’t follow management’s rules you get scolded… really badly.”

“But I thought you played by your own rules,” he said without stopping to think twice.

“I do… well to everyone I do,” I sounded distant, even to myself and it gave away that there was a something more to the statement I’d made. “It’s complicated.”

“Try me…”

“It’s just not that simple, there are things in my life that people just wouldn’t understand and I prefer to keep it that way. There’s nothing worse than having your dirty laundry aired…” I stared down at my wrists that were hidden underneath the table, they were marked by a few faint red scratches from a few weeks ago.

“But you need to have someone you trust at least,” Harry spoke after long silence. “Someone who understands you…”

“But no one does, like I said it’s complicated…” I shook my head. “Forget I said anything.”

He didn’t say anything to me, instead he looked me in the eyes for a long time before going back to having his drink. There was something he wanted to tell me, I could tell by the look in his eyes but he didn’t say anything to me.

Soon my phone was vibrating, a message from Demi letting me know that she was outside the café.

“Well Harry,” I said as I got up from my chair. “Looks like I’ve got to go…”

“It was nice to finally meet the famous Addie White,” he chuckled. “I hope to see you soon.”

“Me too,” I said before turning on my heels and walking out of the restaurant and into the sea of paparazzi trying hard not to drop the drink in my hand. “Good morning Demi,” I greeted the person sitting at the driver’s seat.

“Harry Styles?”

I rolled my eyes, of course she was a big Harry Styles. She didn’t care about the band One Direction, just Harry Styles. “I don’t want to talk about it…”

“Fine by me.”

She switched on the car’s engine and One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ started sounding in the car’s speakers.

“Switch it off,” I grumbled and immediately Demi changed the song on the radio. “Thank you…”

There was something about Harry Styles, I just didn’t know what it was just yet.
