Saving Addison White (A famous Harry Styles fanfiction)
Chapter Fifteen: Surprise Parties and Gin
“So it’s safe to say that I am officially exhausted,” I said as Harry parked his car outside his house, the three hour drive back to London was exhausting and I was becoming restless no matter how much Harry tried to keep me entertained with music and his really lame jokes.
“Well we’re home, so get excited,” he killed the engine of the car and got the key out of the ignition. “I’m never road tripping with you ever again…”
“I’m not complaining,” I opened the door and stepped out of the car, closing the door behind me. I was not prepared to get my luggage so Harry was going to have to be a good ‘boyfriend’ and take my bags from me. “Harry love, I’m too tired and can’t take my bags…”
“I’m already on it.” When I turned around he’d gotten the bags out of the trunk of the car and onto the driveway. “You’re really lazy…”
I fluttered my eyelashes and smirked cheekily at him. “If you take my bags with me, I’ll pay you in sexual favours later tonight…” I said it in a low, seductive voice and I saw Harry’s eyes widening before his mouth curving into a smug smile. “You’re such a boy!”
He grabbed both our suitcases and walked over to me. I slid my arm under his, got on my toes to peck him lightly on the cheek and together we made our way to the house reminiscing about the amazing weekend we’d had at his mother’s.
“Really Harry?” I whined as he struggled opening the door. “I’m tired of standing out here. Heck, I’m tired of stand, period…”
“Patience,” he grumbled back and I saw him rolling his eyes at me. He twisted the key and the door clicked open. “See, the door’s open.”
“Took you long though…”
He mumbled something and the both of us made our way into the dark house, it was dusk and the curtains were all closed so you can imagine… Harry dropped our luggage in the lobby of the house, too my hand and led me towards the living room.
“I don’t like this,” I whispered. “Very…”
“SURPRISE!” The lights in the living room flicked on, and everyone jumped up, Demi being the one to jump out into my face. All my friends were standing in the overly decorated room, with big smiled on their faces and it honestly made my heart melt.
“For me? But why? My birthdays long passed and well…” I was overwhelmed with emotions. “You guys are making me emotional.”
“It’s your ‘Welcome Back’ party,” Zayn smiled, he was holding a banner that read ‘welcome home’ with Liam and Perrie – who I hadn’t been formally introduced to just yet. “We were slowly getting over it, you guys took forever to get here.”
I just laughed, I knew exactly what he meant. Anne didn’t want us to leave so she made up every excuse in the book to keep us there and because I didn’t know there was a party to get to and had no wish to be in that car for the long ride home I played along. She kissed us goodbye for a good ten minutes and finally she’d let us go.
“We’re sorry, we got caught up,” Harry chuckled and draped his arm over my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. “Thumbs up for your party planning skills, I have to say I didn’t think you lads could pull this off at such short notice…”
“They didn’t,” Alexa, who was standing next to Demi and Ashton from 5 Seconds of Summer – I forgot to mention that they were there. “Had it not been for Demi, Perrie and I, this party wouldn’t have happened…” she placed her hand on her waist. “Call us next time.”
“Forget Alexa,” Niall, who had a big cake that was concealed in a box, walked up to us. “We bought a cake,” he chuckled. “Chocolate, your favourite, right?”
I smiled, Harry had randomly asked me what my favourite cake flavour was. I didn’t eat cake but I told him chocolate since it was my favourite when I was growing up. As I was thinking that someone – Alexa – took my hand.
“Looks like you need a drink,” she giggled pulling me to the bar where Perrie and Demi were already sitting chatting like old friends. “Here,” she handed me my favourite drink, a Cranberry Cooler, and smiled. “You deserve it for putting up with all of us and still staying sane.”
I took a large gulp of my drink before turning the girls. “Okay, you need to spill. What’s with the party? This is all too weird for me and just too good to be true…”
All three of them shrugged. So they didn’t know? Or maybe they were told to act like they didn’t know what was going on… If they did know, they were really good actresses.
“All I know is that Harry called Zayn and told him to get the guys together and put something real quick,” Perrie, who was holding a cocktail in martini glass, said. “When I asked Zayn why we were throwing a party he didn’t have an answer.”
“And because the nubs are absolutely useless,” Demi chuckled. “We got involved. They called us, all nine of them hysterical.” We laughed. “I swear,” she looked straight past me and over my shoulder at someone behind me. “If Harry looks this way one more time I’m calling him out…”
I turned around to see where she was looking and my eyes just happened to meet with Harry’s beautiful ones. We shared a little moment that was interrupted but Demi.
“I’ve never seen Harry like this about a girl,” Perrie let slip from her mouth. “Forget I said anything…”
“No,” Alexa turned to the blonde hair pop singer. “You’re right. You’ve got a real hold on him.”
Demi looked in my direction and must’ve seen that I was getting more and more uncomfortable talking about my relationship with Harry so she quickly came to my rescue and changed the topic of the conversation. Apparently the girls had gone out over the weekend and well Alexa and Demi had managed to score themselves second dates with the guys from the club. I was listening to what they were saying and finding it quite interesting when I felt two hands that were becoming too familiar, intertwining with mine.
“Really Harry? You’ve had the whole weekend with her and that’s still not enough for you?” Perrie didn’t seem too impressed. “Give her back, she’s ours only for a few hours.”
“One song and she’s all yours again,” he chuckled. I couldn’t help but notice how his mood had done a complete 360 in those few minutes we’d been in London. I guess the city life really agreed with him or maybe it was because he was with his friends.
“I can’t dance unless I’m drunk out of my mind,” I said into his ear as we dance cheerfully to the upbeat music that was playing in the background.
“And you think I can?” he said without any hesitations. “Come on love, it’s not about the dance moves. It’s about enjoying yourself,” and with that said he busted a little move and dipped me, kissing me on my chin.
My leg flew up and nearly kicked Zayn and Louis who were dancing near us. “I’m really sorry,” I giggled once I was standing up right again.
“Amateurs,” Louis mumbled before turning back to Zayn.
I turned to Harry who looked very, very guilty. “Maybe we should sit down, that way we won’t hurt people with our terrible dance moves…”
“Huh uh,” he placed his hand on my lower back and pulled me towards him. “Not yet, the song’s not finished…” he kissed me, on the lips this time, causing everyone’s attention to revert to us.
“Looks like there’ll be two weddings lads,” Zayn teased causing everyone in the room to laugh.
“Shut up Zayn,” Harry said and I witnessed his expression go from a happy to one of annoyance and it stayed that way even when we were dancing, he kept messing up the dance moves and as a result getting frustrated with himself.
“Harry, are you okay? Ever since Zayn raised the marriage thing you’ve been…”
“I’m fine,” he snapped before taking a step back from me and making a quick detour out of the room. I was grateful of the fact that everyone was preoccupied with something because no one noticed.
“Over dancing already?” Perrie smiled. “Alexa and I were thinking of joining you and Harry on the dance floor.”
I forced a smile on my face, I was an actress so it was easy. “We got tired of kicking everyone…” I managed to fake a chuckled. I grabbed the glass of gin and tonic that was in Demi’s hand and downed it one go. “I’m so sorry,” I scowled. “I’ll make you another one.”
Alexa got off her stool and both she and Perrie ran over to the dance floor. When I turned back to Demi there was a concerned look on her face, she knew that I was upset and I wasn’t going to be able to lie to her…
“He stormed off, don’t ask me why because I don’t know,” I grabbed the open bottle of vodka that was sitting on the counter and poured into a new glass. “Do I care? Yes, I fucking care,” tears filled my eyes. “Am I going to do anything about it?” I downed the drink and frowned, the liquid was really bitter. “No, because it’s my fucking fault I’m in the bloody friendzone…”
“Addison, you need to calm down…”
“No Demi, I need to realise that I’m wasting my time bothering with my relationship with Harry,” I vented pouring myself another drink. “I’m not lucky when it comes to love… and it sucks, a lot.”
