What's Hidden Within

First Chapter

Dreams are always the same for me... they are never real.

Reality hits hard once you wake up from what you have always wanted, but to know you will never get.

It is more like the story of Cinderella, but with a never ever after.

But what if I could change that?

What if He could change that?

What if we could all change that?

This ending might just have an happing ending after all...just might.

Are you ready to join the fight?

For what is right?

*********************************************************************************************************

Ignoring the slowly rising bumps on my arm from the coldness of the cement in the room I was kept in, I focused on the one and only whispery familiar voice inside my head.

"It is freezing in this place, maybe I'll get lucky enough to freeze to death." Evelyn whispered into my mind, as it was her gift.

I cringed from the thought of her wanting to die, "You know that I dislike it when you mention stuff about death." I thought back, while I traced the bumps on the cement.

"Sorry, can't help at this momment. I got six shots and had to take a MRI. I'm not in the best moods, and for the best part, I don't get to eat anything in twenty-four hours since the test won't function correctly if there is any food stimulating in my body." I could hear her voice shake from either the cold or the memmories, maybe both.

"Another MRI? Didn't they already do that test on you before?" I asked agrly from all the pain she was enduring.

"Yes, they just realized that it would work better with no food in my body." she reaplied.

"I'm so sorry..." I could'nt finish as the door to where I was kept opened.

"Felicity?" I could hear Evelyn ask worryling.

"Get up!" the green suited assign man for my room ordered me.

I got up slowly, dreading on what test I was up for today.

"Quickly!" he ordered, making me jump from the loudness of his voice.

"Are you getting tested?" I heard Evelyn ask worringly.

"Yes." I softly answered, carefully not letting any humans hear me.

If they found out that Eveyln was using her gift to communicate with any of us, she would get severly punished and so would that Different she was communicating with.

We took risk, because we actually had something the humans couldn't take away from us.

I smirked, knowing our little secret was what kept us sane and that no one could take that away from us.

"What are you smirking for?" the assigned man asked, as he raised his graying eyebrow up in a questioning look.

I quickly took the smirk off my face, "Nothing sir." as he gave me another last look before we headed off towards the direction of the farthest and most concealed laboratory in the building.

Only the most gifted Differents were tested in this laboratory, I was one of them and the only.

I look human other then some acient permanent symbols written on my arm from when I was a baby, from God knows who, but guessing by them, those are the reason of why I am in this place.

"Felicity, glad you could make it in today." I heard Mr. Hugens, the second most highest ranked owner of this Different system, say as I walked into the lab.

"Like I had a choice." I smartly said, as my assigned man stepped out of the labortory.

Hugens chuckled, "Differents don't ever have a choice."

I looked around the room noticing that the scene was different then it's usual, "What am I going to be tested on today?" I asked with annoyance.

He smiled as he answered my question, "You see, the room is all cleared up, with nothing in here."

I gulped, knowing what he wanted me to do today, "No, I won't and will never use them."

"But, you have no choice my dear. I do, and last time I checked I was human and you are not."

"Well, good luck. I can't force my wings out whenever I want them too. They don't work like that." I smugly spoke with a still smiling Hugens making me conused.

"That is alright, I knew you were going to try something like this." as he walked towards a metal shining chore, puling out a long syrenge.

I gulped, "Ummm, that is suppose to make my wings come out?"

He came over as he tapped the syrenge, "It is supposed to release a chemical inside of you, so that your wings will not have the feeling of being forced."

I cringed of the thought of some strange chemical in my body, forcing my wings open. "Why did I get the gift of wings, if they didn't want to be open without a chemical opening them?"

"This will only sting for a bit, but Differents should be used to what pain feels like, since they are all from Hell." he said as he pushed the needle into my neck.

I screamed from the pain of the shot and the feeling of the coldness of the chemical going through my vains.

I fell onto my knees as my body started shaking with numbness, "Wh-what is go-going on?" I asked shakenly.

He bent over with his hands on knees as he smiled down at me, "It is working just fine. Just takes some time and pain."

I kept shaking as I wrapped my arms around me from the coldness of inside me.

Last thing I saw was a white flash before I blacked out from all the mixed up feelings deep inside me and the noise of screaming.
