Who Are You

Chapter 11

Harry's POV

"I'm a virgin silly!" Lucy's words didn't register fully in my head.

No, she couldn't be.

I sat up immediately, lifting her off my body, the boner that had been straining against my jeans gone.

Fuck, this was a huge mistake.

My hand guided Lucy back to the house and to the garage. I needed to leave. She was quiet the whole time back to Seattle, but I didn't really notice. My mind was racing with confusion.

Lucy is so attractive, and she definitely knew what she was doing from what I had experienced so far.

How could she be a virgin?

"Lucy how old are you?" My voice was dead and rough.

Her back was turned to me, facing the window.

"Twenty-two," the number came out as a whisper, almost as if she didn't want me to hear it.

This was insane, some guy should've already done the deed.

I couldn't continue this, I didn't do virgins. It wasn't that big of a deal that she hadn't had sex yet, it was that virgins always wanted relationships.

No wonder we haven't shagged yet.

My car pulled up to her flat, I was still ignoring her presence. Before I could say something, she had escaped from my car, running to her house.

I didn't even follow her.

Lucy's POV

Groggily, my eyes creaked open.

I was lying on my couch still dressed in Fourth of July clothes. I didn't fully remember how I had gotten here, I just knew that my head was pounding and my stomach was very queasy.

I stood up slowly, still dizzy. My phone told me it was mid Sunday morning. Great, I was going to have to go to work with a hangover.

The aspirin in my bathroom was put to use, and I changed into some lazy clothes. Then I decided to make breakfast and drink a lot of water. Hopefully that would lessen my hangover.

Sizzling sounds and the juicy smell of bacon wafted around my kitchen as I cooked. Just as the toaster dinged, last night's events came back to me.

The party,

Harry's friends,

the drinking,

"I'm a virgin silly!"

the silence.

The toast I had just picked up dropped to floor. Oh no, why did I say that? It didn't really matter, right? Harry never actually said anything about it, not that I can remember. He probably just dropped me off because I was wasted.

At least that's what I wanted to believe.

But my gut was telling me I was wrong. What's the reason we didn't talk about it?

Monday

I walked into the lobby of the gym, on my way to my lesson.

While I was working last night I had decided to believe that it didn't bother Harry I was a virgin, and I was going to finally ask him what we was going on between us.

Determination filled every step I took though the locker room and to the gym.

Harry was warming up on our practice mats, listening to rock music in the background.

For a second I studied him and reevaluated my plan. I was going to get him turned on, easy enough. Then while we were making out, I would spring the question on him.

Tight shorts and a loose tank top flaunted my curves, I was ready for action.

As I stormed over to Harry, I noticed he had that hard look on his face. The one that indicated he was closed off and unreachable.

My step faltered a little, but I regained my confidence and strode right up to him.

"Harry," I greeted him.

He didn't even reply, his head just nodded my way curtly. It seemed as if he were angry with me, like I had done something wrong.

I came closer to him, placing my hand on his shoulder lightly. With lightning speed he jerked away, standing up.

"Woah, what's your problem?" I asked him, concerned.

"This isn't the place to get intimate Lucy," he scolded me.

What is he talking about?

"You certainly didn't seem to mind last time," I replied snarly.

His green eyes narrowed, turning dark and cold.

"Well I do now, we were just messing around and it can't continue," Harry kept on.

It literally felt like he had said that because he knew it would hurt me. I came here today hoping that we would maybe have a relationship. I was so stupid. Harry didn't date! I should've seen this coming.

Just as I was about to cause a scene, I realized that's what he wanted. Well, I wasn't giving him the joy of getting to me.

"Yes I totally agree," his eyes lit up a little in shock, "you just look a little down, I was wondering if there was something wrong," I said as sweetly as possible.

Now Harry's eyes displayed remorse for his malicious words. Then he turned away from me, preparing the mats for our dreadful session.

We spent the next hour only exchanging grunts and pants from working hard.

The times we had caught each other's gaze, I broke away before a conversation began. I was truly hurt and embarrassed by him.

What did you think Lucy? Just because you made him smile and laugh a little doesn't mean he wants anything to do with you!

Thoughts like these attacked my head, filling me with doubt and sadness.

By the end of the hour I was physically and emotionally drained. I left the gym without uttering a goodbye.
Once I got to my car, I stopped hiding my emotions. Driving back home I wallowed myself senseless.

The only time I stopped crying was when I had to stop into Casey's to pick up a pizza.

I spent a few hours alone, eating and being in despair.

When the time came for my shift, I called in sick. Rick said it was fine, he could probably tell I wasn't sick, but he knew something was definitely wrong. I didn't care if I was going to lose my job, I could easily find another one.

But I knew it was unlikely Rick would fire me, even with all the shifts I took off. We were friends, and he was too kind.

The rest of the week was like this, except I was taking on more shifts instead of taking them off. I needed something to take my mind off of Harry. I was pretty sure we were both wondering why I hadn't switched back to Carter as my instructor yet.

I couldn't, I still wanted to be around him.

It was pathetic, but true. Even if we were barely conversing, just seeing him was all I needed. I had also realized another thing.

Harry didn't date, which is probably why he's scared of whatever we are.

If that was the case, I needed to get him back somehow. I had been thinking about this the last couple of days, but I hadn't found a way to show him that we could work. I also needed to remind him of the unmistakeable chemistry we had, but how?

Thursday was the day I had finally figured out a way.

I was leaving the gym and had run into Carter. We chatted and laughed a little, then he mentioned his group of friends were going out clubbing tomorrow night.

This was perfect.

Remembering how he reacted at the bar that one night, I knew this could work. I was going to find a way to make him jealous! There had to be plenty of guys there willing to help me out.

Since I had been working double shifts at the pub, I already had the weekend off. Carter invited me to join them, and I eagerly said yes.

I also knew Layla would be there, so if my plan backfired I would have her there to help.

Everything seemed to be falling into place, and I had an appealing outfit planned.

Friday night was going to decide if Harry was in my life anymore or not.
