The Couchbed

*The next morning*

Hayley woke up first the next morning. Calum was clinging onto her waist, even in his peaceful sleep. She giggled and laid there for a couple moments. Little cries interupted the silence. Someone was awake.

She smiled and stood up, going to soothe the upset baby. It was usually Jacob in the morning. Cecelia slept like a brick. Jacob woke easily, and he didn't fall back to sleep. Hayley entered and saw him laying on his back and crying. She rolled her eyes playfully.

He was such a dramatic. He had even started to do the pout face Calum made when Hayley wouldn't cuddle with him. It was the funniest thing, Hayley couldn't believe it the first time she saw it.
"You are going to wake up your sister buddy," Hayley cooed, "I'm here, stop crying,"
He immediately stopped when she picked him up. It was like magic.

"Yeah you little fucker, you were playing me this entire time," Hayley muttered, "something your dad would do,"
He giggled and laid his head on her shoulder. Cecelia remained asleep peacefully. Hayley brought him into the kitchen and out him in the highchair.

She started to make breakfast while he banged his hands on the little table top.
She was almost done when she heard Cecelia crying and Calum mumbling that he was coming to get her. He appeared a moment later with her. They both had messy bed head that was adorable.
"I know Cece," he mumbled bouncing her and patting her back, trying to get her to stop crying, "I'm not a morning person either,"

Hayley smiled to herself and continued to make breakfast. She heard the click of the other highchair and Calum's strong hands went around her waist.
"Good morning princess," he rested his chin on her head.
"Good morning," she smiled kissing him.

Their little moment was once again interrupted by the little hellions. Not that they minded.
They were having a nice breakfast when Calum's phone rang. He stepped out to talk to whomever on the phone. He came back in with a sigh, trying to pull a shirt over his head at the same time.

"I need to go in early today," he explained, "don't wait up for me if I'm not home till late okay?"
"But Calum it's 9 in the morning," Hayley frowned, "are you seriously going to be gone all day?"
He nodded, "I'm sorry, we've just got some extra things to take care of."
"It's okay," she smiled assuringly, "just be careful, and I love you,"
"Love you too cutie," he peppered her face with kisses, causing her to giggle.

"Damn it what did they think they were doing?!" Calum snarled.
"I have no idea," Ashton shrugged, leaning on the desk, "we warned them,"
Another couple kids were arrested late late last night. They did a deal, and something must have went wrong because someone ended up dead.

Now the police were itching to capture anyone they could. And they had fresh new evidence to get it done. Calum couldn't have cared less if he only had himself to look out for. He had a family to look after, he couldn't be sitting in a fucking jail cell. Not to mention that Hayley would be pissed at him if he did get caught

"Luke found some files on this Chief Cragen guy," Michael entered, "I figured we might as well go through them now,"
"Sounds good," Calum agreed, taking a folder and reading through it.

It took them hours to get through everything. It also took a shitload of coffee. Calum was tired and frustrated by the time they finished.
"So he's not from here, he's from England." Luke summarized, "London to be more precise, and he's dealt with gangs like us before. It says that he took down a gang that went by one direction. They were the biggest gang in London,"

"So he definitely is a threat," Ashton moaned, "even worse,"
Calum laid his head on the desk. What the fuck was he supposed to do about this?
"This is going to be one rough week," Michael muttered.

"Did he crack?" Cragen asked
Officer Mark nodded his head, "oh it was easy, he sang like a canary,"
Cragen laughed, "that's what usually happens. You get these kids who think they're invincible and once they realize that they aren't they all have emotional breakdowns,"

Mark looked back through the one way glass and saw one of the boys they'd arrested earlier in the interrogation room. He was sitting at the two seat table alone. His head was in his hands as he sobbed. Mark would've felt bad if the boy didn't come in acting like a dickwad.

"So what did he tell you?" Cragen asked
"He told me a lot," mark looked back over, "location of the hideout, and who hood deals to,"
"That's gold," Cragen nodded, taking the piece of paper and looking at the information, "I say you and Wells check out the hideout. I bet you could bust a couple of the higher ups today maybe,"
"Yessir," mark nodded, going off and getting himself ready.

Mark's partner George Wells got himself ready and they headed off to the location. What was there was just a house, it seemed normal enough. They pulled up and mark readied his gun in his back pocket. He and wells stepped out of the car and made their way up the walkway.

The boys had realized that the police had somehow found their hideout. They were searching, looking for the guns they'd hidden. There were bangs on the door and yells to open up but they kept going.
"What about the back door?" Ashton suggested smartly.

They all nodded and ran down the stairs, ready to run out of the back and into the woods behind the house. Just as they opened the back door, the front door of the house burst open and the two officers came charging in.
"Drop your gun!" They ordered.

Calum glanced over at the young officer and his older partner, looking down the barrel of the gun. He was not fazed. He just turned and starred to sprint with the three boys. Michael shot a couple bullets back as they ran, trying to lose the police.

Calum heard the gun go off again, but this time he felt his graze his calf. He swore but kept going, feeling the searing skin of his leg nip at the wind. It hurt a lot for him to run, but he was on adrenaline and he needed to get away.

The boys had all split up in the woods and Calum knew he had escaped. He had run too far in for them to catch him. He waited for about an hour and a half before he decided to sneak home in the darkness.
When he entered the house he saw Hayley in the livingroom. The news was on and she didn't look too amused. Their eyes met and he knew that he was definitely in for it.

"Hayley?" He grimaced.
"well look who's finally home," she glared, "how was your run through the woods huh Calum?"
"I didn't know that they found the hideout," he defended
"I don't care," she shook her head, "I told you that I would feel much better if you had a regular job,"
"And you knew that I would never be able to stop doing it," he snapped, "so stop acting so surprised,"
she scoffed, "well I thought that being around for your children meant more to you,"

he he watched her turn and leave, retreating to their room. Then the door slammed shut. Well he was sleeping on the couch. He sighed and laid down, trying to get some sleep. It was too hard, his mind was going nuts. H knew he shouldn't have snapped at her. It was stupid anyway, he knew she was right. Now she was pissed. She was rarely mad at him, and he hated when she was.

Yep this was going to be even rougher than he imagined it would be.
