The New Guys In Town
*6 months After the end of Behind Enemy Lines*
Calum stood infront of the TV holding Jacob in his arms. The little boy was half asleep since he had just awoken from his daily nap. He was laying limp in Calum's arms as Calum bounced him gently to keep him from crying.
Calum had been about to turn the TV off because the little family was going to the mall to meet up with the rest of the "gang". His finger hovered over the button when a breaking story popped up on the screen. He was curious so he kept it on for a moment.
There was a press conference and the camera zoomed in on a man stepping up to a podium. He was definitely a police officer, but Calum had never seen him. This only furthered his interest because he knew all of the police in town.
Cameras were clicking and people were rushing out questions, but he didn't answer. He simply waited until they quieted down to speak.
"Hello everyone. As you all of you have recently become aware, our Police Chief, Chief Stabler, has passed away from old age. He has done a lot for our wonderful city of Sydney, and we will all mourn his death. However, this does not mean that the crime in the city takes a break. Crime in the city has increased, especially in the past couple months,"
He finally looked up from the podium. He was looking right at the camera, and Calum felt as if the man was staring right at him. It gave him a weird feeling.
"As your new Chief of Police, I am working to crush the issue at hand, which is the drug trade and gang activity on our streets. I will no longer stand for the so called power that these fangs hold over our government, and use to torment our innocent civilians. I am ready to end this horrible era of our history now."
When he finished that sentence the room errupted into cheers and claps. He nodded to reinforce his point and continued to speak.
"We are now working on taking down the dangerous criminals that plague our streets, especially the members of the downtown gang who have proven their toxicity to our society thoroughly in the past months. I want our citizens to be able to walk alone and feel safe, and soon enough they will be able to."
The downtown gang was Calum's group. It was definitely the more dangerous because of its size. The city's other gangs were just a fraction of the size, so they posed no threat compared go Calum.
Calum snorted laughter. How many times has he heard that same old gag? The old chief would always say that he was close to taking down the gang before, and he never came close once. Feeling not the least bit concerned, he flipped the television off and went to go find his girlfriend.
He heard her adorable coos in the baby's bedroom. Smiling, he entered to see Hayley placing a little pink bow in their daughters hair.
"Is this what's been taking you so long?" He shot playfully.
She glanced at him before scooping up Cecelia and showing off her work, "yes! She has to look good when she goes out Calum,"
"I've been waiting for 10 minutes," he laughed.
"Well you can't rush perfection," she smirked

"What about this?" Hayley asked holding up crop top to Jackie Gab and Luz.
Jackie snorted laughter, "I like it, but you're a mom now, you can't go around wearing crop tops,"
"Oh shush," gabby pushed Jackie softly, "she's still 18 you know,"
"Yeah, do what you want," Luz agreed, "don't let the haters like Jackie bring you down,"
"I'm not a hater!" Jackie defended.
"I know," Hayley assured her best friend, "besides, I think crop tops are good motivation for me to keep working out! I want my pre pregnant body back,"
"Hun you are fine!" Luz waved her off, "you look just as great as you did before,"
"Aw thanks," Hayley smiled, "but I guess working out isn't a bad thing either, besides, I like it,"
Jackie was laughing to herself, which prompted them all to ask her why she was laughing.
"Nothing, I'm just imagining Hayley in mom jeans," she spluttered
Hayley's face screwed up and she shook her head playfully, "that's so cruel!"
"No one should have to suffer the pain of mom jeans!" Luz laughed.
"I'd like to see that day," Jackie snickered, "it'll be a great one,"
"I wouldn't be too sure about that Jackie, I, still waiting for when she actually wears
actual pants more than one day in a row,"
"Excuse you, leggings are actual pants, check your facts," Hayley smirked.
"No they are not," gabby argued, "you can see your underwear through them!"
"No when you wear a thong!" Hayley winked.
Luz was laughing and highfived Hayley.
This silenced Jackie and Gabbys arguments and they continued to look through the clothing stores in the mall. Hayley was pushing a stroller with both Cecelia and Jacob inside. The boys had gone off on their own way, which none of them minded.
The whole time they were walking, Jackie felt as if they were being watched by someone. She was constantly turning and looking over her shoulder, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Until she turned around about the fifth time and saw two men watching them. She turned right back around and started to walk faster.
"Slow down Jackie," Hayley whined, "I can only walk so fast with these two,"
"I think something's wrong," she whispered, "I think those guys are watching us,"
Hayley looked over her shoulder and saw them still staring. She had no idea who they were, but they seemed intimidating.
"Let's go find the boys then," Hayley suggested, "I'm sure it's nothing though,"
"You're right, I'm probably just overreacting," Jackie sighed.

"I don't know if whos more interested in the show," Calum laughed
He had entered to see Hayley Jacob and Cecelia on the livingroom floor with a blanket, watching spongebob.
Hayley giggled, "hey, it's something we both like to watch,"
Calum rolled his eyes playfully before telling her that he had to go out.
"I've got a deal to get done," he told her, "but I'll be home later tonight,"
She nodded and kissed him, "be safe Cal,"
"I will princess," he assured, "l love you,"
"I love you too," she smiled fondly.
He kissed the babies and grabbed his coat to head out. He took one last look at the adorable scene before him and left.
A short drive later he met up with his father, Ashton, Michael, and Luke.
"What's wrong?" Calum asked when he saw the serious look on his fathers face.
"Sit down Calum, we have a problem," Andrew sighed, rubbing his chin tiredly.
Calum took a seat next to Michael and Andrew leant back in his chair.
"So there is a new police chief, he's, much younger than Stabler. And from what I can tell, he's pretty serious about his job," Andrew muttered, "just an hour ago some of the runners went out to deal and they got busted by some puedo-clients. They're in jail now,"
"Fuck," Calum cursed, "they could screw the rest of us over,"
"Exactly, they could squeal during an interrogation and were done for," Ashton agreed.
"There's not much we can do, breaking them out would only endanger others," Andrew reasoned, "but we need to be more careful. I would advise you all to lie low for a bit, stay under the radar so the cold don't have another reason to go after us,"
They all nodded in understanding. The meeting went in a little longer, but honestly none of them knew what else to say. This was a delicate matter. Calum was feeling a little unnerved afterwards. His father had handed over the reins at a really bad time. Now it was Calum's responsibility to solve this problem. He never dealt with cops like this before, so he had no idea.
He went home late that night. He got into the house to see all the lights off. The blanket was folded back up neatly in its place. All the dishes were done. It looked as neat as it always did because Hayley kept it that way. He went to the baby's room first, peeking in and seeing both asleep peacefully. Then he went into his own room and saw Hayley curled up asleep. She looked so content.
All he could hope for was for this contentness to sustain itself until this police thing was solved.
