All I Ever Wanted

Hot Chocolate

Knock knock!

I gave a quick knock to the Robinson’s front door.

“Leah, what are we doing here?” Harry was still clueless to my plans. I’d told him on the first night how I'd wanted to visit the girls, but I guess he just wasn’t catching on.

“Just wait, you’ll see.” I brushed him off. The door opened and it was Mrs. Robinson.

“Hello, Leah! And hi Harry! How are you two today?” She smiled.

“We’re good! Thanks! I was just wondering, are Ella and Lucy home?” I’d promised her daughters that Harry and I would visit since they were such huge fans.

“They are!” She beamed, remembering the promise as well.

“Can we take them to the park to play for a bit?” Harry asked this time, finally catching on to what my plans were.

“Oh, I’m sure they’d love that!” She turned to call for them. “Thank you for remembering, and taking the time to do this. They’ll be so excited!” She looked like she wanted to hug us. Ella and Lucy came around to the door. “Girls, Leah and Harry want to take you to the park. Grab your coats!”

Both girls looked completely shocked to see Harry at their door. Ella was eight and Lucy was six. I’d never seen such stunned expressions on little girl’s faces. Harry had been famous for most of their lives so they hadn’t seen much of him since he wasn’t in Holmes Chapel as much as he wanted to be.

“Come on, love!” Harry pulled Lucy up onto his shoulders and I held Ella's hand. We waved goodbye to their mother and made the walk down the street. The park was only two blocks away and today wasn’t as cold as expected, so a walk would be nice. Harry tried to get both of the girls talking, but they were so shy around him.

We arrived in the park and the girls wanted to go straight for the swings. Harry and I took turns pushing the girls. I asked Lucy where she got her adorable pea coat, and Ella where she got her shoes. Both girls opened up to the idea of clothes, so I used that to bring them out of their shyness. Pretty soon, they both couldn’t stop talking. We slid down the slides, rode the see-saws and walked down to the frozen pond. They were the absolute sweetest girls.

“Let’s take some pictures of our day at the park, shall we?” Harry pulled his camera out of his coat pocket. Ella and Lucy were thrilled to take pictures with Harry and I. We all posed and goofed around until we had over one hundred snapshots.

“It’s chilly out here!” Lucy cuddled into my coat as I held her.

“Wanna get them back?” I looked to Harry. He nodded, causing both girls to pout. “Hey, don’t be sad! We’ll stop and get some hot chocolate on the way!” I hoped it would cheer them up, and sure enough, both girls smiled and cheered.

Harry ordered four hot chocolates and the drinks made our walk home much more bearable as the temperature had begun to drop.

“Aunt Leah, will you and Uncle Harry be our babysitters forever?” Lucy looked up at me with her big brown eyes, melting my heart.

“Aw, Lucy, I don’t think we’ll be able to be your full time babysitters. But every time we’re in Holmes Chapel, we’ll take you and Ella to the park. How does that sound?” She nodded, and snuggled deeper into my coat. Harry was carrying Ella and she was snuggled in close, too. It had become bitter cold and a light snow started to fall.

We finally made it back to the Robinson’s house and Harry gave the girls his camera. Mrs. Robinson thanked us and we made our way back to Harry’s. After swapping our coats for blankets, we snuggled around the fireplace.

“Today was fun. That was a great idea, Miss Sadler.” Harry kissed my forehead.

“It was fun. I love those little girls.”

Harry nodded in agreement. “I can’t wait to have our own one day.” I smiled, reveling in the fact that I’d found the one I wanted to spend my life with, the one I wanted to father my children.

I snuggled into him, enjoying our alone time. Anne and Robin were out with friends and Gemma was in her room studying for an upcoming exam.

“I can’t either.” I hummed. My phone vibrated next to me and I picked it up to see a text from Emma.

Hey Le. Just talked to my doctor and we’ve set up a date for the paternity test. Will you and Harry come with Niall and me? It’s early on Friday, so they’ll have enough time to make it out for their first show.

I showed the text to Harry and he agreed to it. I tapped on the keyboard to reply.

You know we’ll be there. Love you two! Xo

Harry sighed and I knew his nerves were working, just as mine were after reading the text. We both wanted that baby to be Niall’s, but the odds weren’t in his favor.
