His missing shadow (Zayn Malik)
The truth
'Get up, now!'- Zoey nervously pushed her sister, who was still asleep.
Leah quickly stood up and rubbed her eyes. She looked at her sister surprised, waiting for an explanation.
'Is it true?'
'What, Zoey?'
'You spent the night at Lucas' apartment and slept with him?'
'Zoey, are you crazy?'
Leah was shocked, she just remembered how Zayn helped her, nothing else happened. Zayn was looking at the road all the time, without speaking. He asked Leah only one question, nothing more. But how could she expect anything from this mysterious guy. She realized that she wanted to experience all these adventures too fast and looked like a whore because her behaviour.
'Then why everyone's talking how he...'
'Cause he's lying. You believe him, don't you? For God's sake, I'm still a ... and you think that I'll sleep with that jerk?'
'I ...'
'I have to go to work, it's five o'clock and I'm second shift.'
Leah closed the door behind her, without waiting for her sister's answer, who was ashamed of herself. Yes, Zoey believed the stupid rumor and not Leah, who had promised not to do anything stupid.
The road to the club wasn't long-Leah had to go through a long alley lined with trees. They were tall, but their branches were tilted to each other and entwined.
There was a truck with alcohol front of the club.
'Heyo, Leah. Come and help us!'
One of the boys called out to Leah, and she helped him with cases of beer. She wasn't used to doing any work because she had always been the girl of my mom and dad. It was heavy, but she didn't complain. Leah walked slowly down the aisle, tottering from side to side.
'Let me help you.'- Zayn rushed to her and took the beers.
They met their eyes and it was so awkward because he looked at her strangely. Zayn was glad that she was in front of him... and somehow glad to see her.
'I don't need your help.' - Leah drew back, visibly angry, because everyone wanted to help the little girl.
Zoey broke the awkward moment, standing next to Leah.
'Why did you leave without telling me anything?'
'Maybe because I told you everything. Now you can ask Zayn, he drove me home.'
Zoey looked at Zayn in bewilderment, because he didn't care about anything or anyone. He didn't help just like an unknown girl.
'Actually yes, but don't worry... it won't happen again.'
Zayn walked to his car and drove away in an unknown direction, leaving the girls without words. The bad guy was here again and his good side disspeared just like that.
'Are you happy now? Your sister isn't a slut.'- Zoey's hand hit Leah's face because she wasn't herself.
Leah couldn't believe that her older sister hit her. Tears ran, not from pain, but from what Zoey did.
'You're a big kid, face it. When you finish work, go home immediately.'
Being eighteen wasn't so good. We all think that we'll be independent, but nothing really changes. All continue to treat you as before.
Looking at everyone in the club, Leah wanted to remember every face. From the bearded man in the corner to the girl with the short skirt. She poured drink after drink, but was that what she wanted? I don't think it was her plan. She wanted to be near her sister, but actually they were farther away than ever.
The first day was a good start, she got used to the job right from the start with its obligations, although it wasn't so difficult. Leah brought together her things in her bag, turned off all the lights and left the club. Slowly entered the code for the alarm and shut the door. She heard footsteps behind her and turned back to see the face of the approaching. It was Lucas, who was apparently drunk, because the alcohol could be smelled from miles away.
'Hello!'- He went to Leah and held her against the wall, shortening the distance between them.
'I must go home.' - She tried to leave, but his grip was strong.
'You're so innocent.' - Lucas stroked her cheek and she closed her eyes.- 'This little heart will pop.'
He gestured toward her chest and slowly leaned toward to kiss her neck.
But also another heart was beating fast, not from fear, but from anger. Zayn was in the car near, watching what was happening. Thousands of thoughts ran through his head, but he couldn't just stand there and watch. Zayn got out and ran to Lucas and Leah. He patted his shoulder and punched him with his fist in the face. Leah's frightened sight looked at him right in the eyes, but he was calm because she was safe.
'Go home... Now!'- Zayn said to Leah, indicating her the direction.
'But...'
'Go away, Leah. Run!'
Without more thinking she began to run. She ran without stopping... ran without looking back.
Zayn grabbed Lucas by the shirt.
'Oh, Zayn the rescuer. How cute was that?'
'Leave her alone!'
'Why? Why are you so interested in her? Because she looks like Katie?'
Zayn froze when he heard that name. The name of love. Everything he had and was taken away.
'Don't say that name.'
'Why, Zayn? Because you killed Katie and now you want to replace her with this kid?'
'I didn't kill her, it was an accident. Our car was broken.'
Zayn released his grip and sat on the cold ground, remembering that night. That evening in which he lost part of himself, and now he had a shadow. His missing shadow.
