His missing shadow (Zayn Malik)
Zayn and roses
Seeing a familiar face, Leah ran to the person. She embraced her sister and buried her head, hiding the tears. The road to Summerland, California wasn't long, but Leah traveled alone somewhere for the first time and the stress made her tired.
'Hey, little fellow! Glad to see you!'- She rubbed her head as if Leah was ten.
'I'm not a little girl, Zoey! I'm eighteen!'
'But you're still my little sister! Mom and Dad called about twenty times, they are really worried about you.'
Leah couldn't stand to be treated like a child because she was ready to take care of herself. She had decided to change her life this summer and living with her sister Zoey in Summerland, knowing that she would support her, was a huge step for her.
Zoey showed her sister around, though there was nothing much to see during the day.
Leah chose the profession of a barmaid like her sister because she wanted to work with each other in one place.
'This is Sam Chester, the manager of the club.'- Zoey presented her twenty-five year boss, who looked extremely attractive. He wore a black long sleeve shirt, despite the warm weather, and dark blue trousers.
'I hope you'll like our club -"Black Killers" because I don't want to be disappointed.'- He held out his hand and greeted Leah. She was so embarrassed and somewhat ashamed, because she wasn't used to be the center of attention.
After moving the luggage into the humble little house on the beach, Leah decided to call her parents to calm them that everything was fine.
'Leah, is that you?'- Her mother sounded hellish upset like she was waiting beside the phone all day.
'Yes, Mom. Everything is fine. I was just calling to tell you that I'm fine.'
'I miss you, baby. Take care of yourself.'
'Okay, I gotta go.'
Leah was extremely irritated by the fact that all kept treating her as a child. She slowly sat down on the bed, looking around the small bedroom that she was supposed to share with her sister. It was all in lavender and with white furniture. Her sister had a very good taste and would be a great interior designer, but chose to take a rest because she didn't like school. Leah laid down on the bed because she was too tired to think, and couldn't keep her eyes open. Despite all she missed her parents.
'Wake up, fool!'- Zoey slowly pushed Leah's shoulder. It was dark, the night had fallen over the city, but that was the best moment of the day... or to be more precisely the most interesting.
'Let me sleep, I'm tired!'
'I won't let you sleep through your first night here. Be ready in ten minutes.'
Zoey left the room, Leah slowly got out of bed and chose to wear a white short dress and a denim shirt because she thought that it would be cold. Leah let her brown hair in its natural state, with slight curls.
'Where are we going?'- She asked curiously while putting on her sandals.
'Races. Hurry, I don't want to miss the start.'
'Races?'
'With cars. You wanted something different and dangerous, now no one can stop you.'
Leah hesitated, but finally decided to take the risk.
Both passed high abandoned buildings, and Leah looked around. There were noises from cars, music and shouting. Zoey felt in her waters because she was living there for three years and knew everyone. She was used to the nightlife, which was quite dangerous.
Leah and Zoey approached a small group of boys and girls and Zoey presented her sister. Blushing not just once, Leah greeted the company and leaned against one of the cars.
'Honey, I have to race, but if you want to come with me... I don't mind.'
'Ha-ha, Lucas... Very funny, she's still a child.'- Zoey pulled her sister to herself and showed him a middle finger.
All eyes were focused on the start line, where there were six cars. In each one there was a girl ... all seemed so excited and drunk.
One boy was late, he parked in the middle and put sixty dollars out of his pocket. He was tall with dark hair and a leather jacket, the cigarette in his mouth made him look like a real bad guy.
'Who's he?'- Leah asked her sister and pointed at the mysterious boy.
'That's Zayn Malik. He's a professional race car driver but during the summer he's racing here.'
Everyone was ready, Zayn had a white rose in his hand and placed it on the seat beside him. Only in his car there wasn't a girl.
'What is this rose?'- Leah quietly whispered to her sister because she didn't want anyone to hear.
'Long story, but everyone is saying it's for his girlfriend, who died in a car accident when they were racing.'
Leah bristled at the thought, and when she heard shooting, she jumped.
'Calm down!'- Zoey started shouting, supporting one of her friends.
Everybody was expecting the finalists, but then heard police sirens and started running in different directions. Zoey grabbed her sister's hand, squeezing it tightly. Police cars were a lot, both girls couldn't escape, they were ready to be arrested, but then Gavin, Zoey's friend, stopped his car right in front of them.
'Come on... quickly!'- He called them, opening the doors.
Both rushed to the car. The tires screeched and Leah closed her eyes, tightly gripping the seat.
'Where are we going?'- She asked her sister, expecting to go home.
'Party.'
A tear ran down her cheek, but she didn't wipe it because no one could see her because she was alone оn the back seat.
The party was on a huge meadow where all the racers were gathered. Leah, Zoey and Gavin got out and went to the others to greet them. All were laughing, drinking and smoking, but Leah didn't feel right. She decided to take a drink, but there was only beer in the trunk of one of the cars.
'Aren't you too young to be here?'- A raspy male voice asked and she turned to see the boy's face.
Zayn was standing in front of her with a smirk, studying her with a gaze. He pulled on his cigarette and blew smoke in Leah's face. She didn't do anything, she didn't even move.
'I think you're too young for alcohol...'- He kept mocking her and played with a lock of her hair.
