My Guitar

Real

So he dragged me to the rehearsal for the concert. They were even better than they were in Eau Claire. Like, way better. I wonder why?
For the actual concert, I opted to sit and watch side-stage, where I wouldn't be a distraction or in the way. Blondie wanted me in the audience so he could pull me up on stage, but I told him to pick another girl to live her dream. He smiled, but looked faintly disappointed. I gave him a hug before he went below the stage, and waited for the concert to begin. I heard the screaming girls, and knew it'd begun. The song was just as good as last time, actually, it was better, even though I knew what was going on, and I wasn't a part of it.
When Blondie came up, I watched him interact with the girl at his microphone, and I realised something. He hadn't handed her a guitar or anything, but he did act just like he had with me. And this girl, she was way prettier than me. It made me think about our relationship. Was it all an act? Did he act like this towards all girls? Was what we had even real? Somewhere in the back of my mind, a small voice knew the answer, but my insecurities got the better of me, and I was thinking irrationally. In that moment, I realised he hadn't looked at me once this whole concert, and he always seemed to be looking at her. He wouldn't even notice if I left. I didn't notice that the other boys were all doing the same, or that he was looking at me, way more than regularly. I just left.
POV CHANGE - 3RD PERSON NIALL
He noticed, all right. But it wasn't like he could run off stage in the middle of a song and stop her. He had a commitment. At their break, he went looking for her. He asked all over, but none of the stagehands had seen her since the second song. He checked the bathrooms, the dressing rooms, he ran out to the tour bus quickly, he couldn't find her anywhere. In a hallway very similar to the one she'd been in when he found her after his mistake, he collapsed, sobbing. He'd lost her. He'd lost her, and it was all his fault.
It was all real. He loved her. Those were the last things he thought before he blacked out.
