Summer

Key West

"We have now landed in Key West, Florida," the flight attendant announced through the loud microphone. A wave of relief passed through me. Finally. Summer couldn't come fast enough.
So, here I am. Sitting in a plane, waiting for this fat ass to get out of his damn seat. I guess I'm being a little harsh though; I just really want to see my cousin, Katelyn, or Kay for short. I am 17 years young, as I like to say. But thankfully I'm turning 18 in a couple of weeks. Kay is a little older though, she's already 18. So, I'm just your average mess of things. Brunette and wavy hair, naturally tanned because of my father who has olive skin, and a little over weight. People try to tell me different, but I know the truth. My thighs are just a little bigger than I would want them to be. But that's okay, atleast I have a goal to reach; smaller thighs. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a freaking thigh gap and look like an anorexic chic. I'm not about that life.
Well, enough about my thighs. 'Fat Ass' in front of me finally moved out of his seat, so I followed behind him. Ohhhh lord, I really needed to stand.
Finally, I was out of the plane and in the large airport. I looked around and saw people hugging, kissing, etc. Wow, team single.
"ALEX!" I heard a familiar voice yell. I was immediately engulfed into a huge bear hug.
"KAY!" I squealed loudly. I hugged her tighter than I even thought possible. She pulled away and grabbed my face while staring intently in my eyes.
"Oh my god, you're hair is longer! You are gorgeous," she said excitedly. She was the one who was gorgeous. Her brunette hair that stopped close to her bold shoulders. She had the clearest blue, silver eyes I have ever seen. It's a weird mixture, isn't it? Brunette hair and blue eyes. Yeah.
"Don't even get me started on you doll," I giggled. She scoffed and grabbed my hand.
"Lets go get your bags and get in the car," she said while pulling me along with her.
"You have a car!" I cheered. She nodded her head with a grin.
"BMW convertible, and it's all mine," she stated. Oh yes, I forgot to mention. This girl has money. My uncle, or Kay's dad Todd, is one of the co-owners of the whole entire BMW car brand. That means big money. But he's never really home from what Kay tells me and from what I remember last summer. BMW headquarters are in Germany, so he practically lives there. Cool right? As for Kay's mom, or my aunt, she's a house mom at the age of 34; her name is Tami. I forgot to mention that there was a little age gap between the two weds.. Or should I say big. Todd was 58. But age doesn't matter, right..?
"Alex."
"Huh, what?" I asked zoning back into real life. She rolled her eyes.
"How was your two year anniversary with Joseph?" she asked while picking my bag out of the baggage claim. I let out a little laugh.
"Things didn't go to well. We were always fighting. I guess we both just got tired of each other. It was like we were an old married couple. Sex got old, fights got in the way," I explained simply. She looked shocked.
"You don't seem sad at all," she said confusedly. I shook my head, I wasn't that sad. The breakup needed to happen eventually.
"I'm happy. I'm with my best friend now," I said while locking our arms together. She grinned and we headed out the door of the airport. The brisk wing blew my hair back. I inhaled the Floridian air. Ah, what is life?
We walked a long ways in silence until we came across her car. It was a black, two-seated convertible. Amazing.
"I'm loving this summer so far," I breathed tracing my finger along the side of the car. She smirked, she knew this summer was going to be amazing. We hopped in the car and Kay made the roof come down and pulled out of the airport.
"So where are we going?" I asked. She pulled on to the long stretch of highways that connected all the islands together. The ocean was beautiful.
"Well since you already look decent, were going to the Tiki Shack," she said. The Tiki Shack was the main hangout for young adults at Key West. It was sort of like a on-the-down-low club. But some nights, it can get crazy. The shack stood on the beach, so there was a little bar, and the a huge dance floor of the sand. I loved it.
"I'm excited," I said. I looked down at my current outfit. It consisted of a sweatshirt, which I didn't exactly need, with a tank underneath, white jean shorts, and red vans.
You could see the beautiful sunset forming in front of us. Sunglasses were very much needed. Damn, that's what I forgot! I knew I forgot something.
"So, any boys in your life Kay?" I asked. She smirked and pulled off at the exit.
"I thought you would never ask," she laughed. "His name is Ian. We've been going out for a week now."
Kay was never the best when it came to boyfriends. She was a little too perspective, if you get what I'm saying. She notices the littlest flaws about a guy which leads her into not having a boyfriend.
"I'm surprised," I teased sarcastically.
"So am I," she said seriously causing me to laugh.
Kay eventually pulled up to the Tiki Shack. The sunset was beyond the waters on the beach. Stars were beginning to come in view. The huge dance floor was glowing with tiki lamps. Sweat bodies were dancing all around, people were yelling with excitement, and others were literally having sex in front of everyone.
Words can't even explain how excited I am right now.
