Stockholm Syndrome

Chapter 26: The Day the Earth Stood Still

Harry was shaken awake by Sorrow, it must have been close to eleven.

“Hey,” Harry greeted tiredly, seeing the look of distress that crossed her face. She looked genuinely worried and he wasn’t sure why, just that Sorrow worried was not a good sign in itself. “What’s wrong?” He asked when she didn’t respond.

“Harry-I-I don’t think I can let you see the news tonight, I don’t think it’s-“She cut herself off when she he gave her a hardened stare.

“William promised me, we made an accord. What is it? If it’s so bad tell me so I can prepare myself.” Harry pleaded, going to stand up.

Sorrow swallowed, unsure if there was ever anyway to prepare yourself for the type of news she just heard.

When Sorrow remained silent he took a guess.

“Niall’s dead?” He asked, wallowing hard.

“No, Niall wasn’t on the plane, thank God.” Sorrow murmured, her eyes almost tearing. Everything was getting so out of hand, the Organization was getting unpredictable and for Sorrow she had a severely bad feeling, that and the call she had listened in on just before William went out of earshot was bone chilling. The games she was playing with Harry needed to stop and judging by the call she needed to get him out of that cabin as soon as possible.

“Then what! Bloody tell me already or show me to the TV!” Harry demanded, now fully standing on his feet, his eyes fearful. Something was wrong, Sorrow was acting too serious to be playing one of her games.

Sorrow relented and went to grab Harry under the arm and help him to the living room, sitting him on the couch and turning on the TV.

Almost instantly a reporter was standing in front of an airport, he knew the place well it was in England, his home.

Coming to you live from London England, this is Nancy Stevenson, reporting to you live in the midst of these tragic turn of events. It has been confirmed that boy band One Direction were on the plane the time of the explosion. No bodies have been found and no cause yet has been rules for the explosion that took the lives of the three members. If you have been following the story, lead singer, Harry Styles went missing over a month ago. Between Niall Horan’s arrest and Harry’s mysterious disappearance it has been a string of bad luck for the boy band, this one the most catastrophic of all. Our prayers and thoughts go to their families and reach out, wherever the other two members maybe tonight to give them our condolences. More on this story when we have more information, back to you in the studio Jaron.

Harry stared at the TV in silence, his eyes wide and his mouth unable to make a sound. He might as well have been gagged because his throat felt heavy and stuffed with an invisible piece of cloth, freezing his voice inside his throat as all he wanted to do was scream, scream until he was sick, scream until his throat bled. Scream until his head exploded.

“Harry?” Sorrow called gently, putting her hand on his shoulder, her other going to his chin to turn his head away from the TV.

Tears cascaded down his face silently. He didn’t even know, all he saw was Sorrow’s face and her mouth that formed silent words, speaking to him. He couldn’t hear her, he could only feel the downward spiral of shock attack his body and penetrate him down to his very core. Never in his life had he been as scared as he was then.

“Harry?” Sorrow tried again, reaching around to embrace him, closing her eyes. “Oh Harry, I’m so sorry. I am so sorry.” She told him, reaching one of her hands to his head and petting his hair soothingly.

Harry felt her hand run down his head but everything felt so far away, his friends weren’t dead because he was counting on them to save him. They couldn’t save him if they were dead.

“William!” Sorrow called in panic when Harry only stared ahead, no response except the tears that still flowed down and falling to his lap.

William came running back with a somber look on his face seeing Harry sitting there, no response otherwise.

He came over and took the small light pen from his pocket and shined it in Harry’s green eyes. No contraction.

“He’s in shock,” William said, checking his pulse. “His pulse is high…go get my bag-I have something that will help, hurry. If his heart continues to beat like this, he may literally have a heart attack on us.”

Sorrow ran to William’s room and got his bag, bringing it back to him in a few moments time.

William didn’t waste time, he grabbed the bag and dumped the contents out of it out, throwing what he didn’t have use for aside until he came to a syringe with blue colored liquid.

“Harry? Can you hear me?” Sorrow asked him softly, rubbing the side of his face with her thumb, brushing the hair away from his face with the other.

“Sorrow, he’s-I told you not to let him watch the news!” William growled, agitated that Sorrow thought she knew better than him.

“I tried explaining that it wasn’t a good idea. I’m sorry, he told me you promised and…I know how you are with your promises.” Sorrow replied, beginning to cry. She didn’t need anyone mad at her right now, she was only trying to do the right thing for once.

William sighed, getting his anger in check and reaching over to kiss her cheek.

“I’m sorry Sniffles, I am. You’re right, I did promise him he could. I didn’t mean to yell.” William coaxed, uncapping the syringe and inserting it into the crock of Harry’s elbow, injected it.

Sorrow felt guilty. For the first time in a long time since her brother died, she was missing him, she was missing everything from her old life.

“Harry? I don’t know if you can hear me but I wanted to apologize for playing games with you. I’m sorry this is happening – please, please be ok.” Sorrow begged, watching William check his pulse, sighing in relief.

“He’ll be ok for right now physically but mentally-I think he’s broke Sorrow, I think-“William closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose, changing the subject slightly. This whole evening has been one huge mess. “Sorrow, there’s something I need to tell you. My father called me tonight, it’s about Christian.

Sorrow wiped the tears from her eyes and listened intently.

“He wants the baby aborted by the time he gets back. He’s due back Christmas evening, a few months from now but still, I figure I should warn you. He also just told me the buyer backed out of the sale, so now we need to figure out what to do with Harry.” William revealed the news in one breath, making Sorrow just look on silently, more in shock than anything.

“If you want, I can do the procedure before he gets back?” William offered softly, brushing a piece of hair from her face lovingly.

“I-why? Did he say why?” Sorrow asked, frowning.

“Yeah, it would be your punishment. He didn’t say why you were being punished, just that-he doesn’t want the baby.” William said, watching Harry’s body relax against the couch from the rigid position he had been sitting seconds earlier.

Sorrow wordlessly began to help lay Harry down, William helping to get his feet and put them up.

“Let him lye here tonight, we’ll figure out what to do with him tomorrow.” William smiled sadly, reaching up to stroke Harry’s head, leaning in to Sorrow’s ear and motioning her outside.

Sorrow nodded, reaching down and kissing Harry’s cheek, her lips close to his ear.

“I’ll be right back, just rest.” Sorrow whispered, stroking his cheek one last time and leaving to follow William so they weren’t heard by unwanted ears.

The cool air hit her skin, cooling her flushed body as she opened the door and went to stand by William.

“You need a coat, what are you trying to do? Freeze yourself to death?” William lectured, taking his long black leather one off and draping it around her shoulders.

“Thanks,” Sorrow smiled, sitting down on one of the chairs. “The phone call earlier, what was it about? I heard death and Harry-come clean, what did Jackson want?”

“Jason,” William corrected in a bitter breath before continuing. “He thinks something’s about to happen, another colleague called him earlier and made mention about Phillandrias-he took that Horan boy, Niall? Well-something happened and he wants us to move cabins. Judging by whatever happened it sounds serious, he’ll let us know either way tomorrow. If worse comes to worse he told us to kill Harry and he will send a plane to fetch us and bring us to the mansion. He may still send the plane to pick us all up but they need to see exactly what happened and Phillandrias is not picking up he cellphone or at his place of work so…we can only assume right now.”

Sorrow looked back to the house, swallowing the cold air thickly.

“Why don’t we let him go? He just lost his friends, the buyer says he doesn’t want him any longer-I’m assuming because of all the drama happening?”

William shook his head, shooting the idea down.

“Don’t even mention letting him go, do you want to be tied up and gagged next to him? You know better, we can’t release hostages….remember the last time you tried that?” William scorned, his frown deepening. “And I don’t know why the buyer backed out, I suppose his disappearance was getting too public.”

Sorrow stuck her wrists out to him in a cross and opened her mouth.

“Tie me up, gag me and stick me in the closet then. Because I’m getting tired of being a victim, I’m tired of watching all these hostages die, watching them break…watching them!” Sorrow exclaimed, standing up to meet William in a hard stare.

William reached out and shushed her, pulling her close to his body and kissing the top of her head as he did so.

“I know but we don’t have a choice.” William sighed, seeing her look up with the saddest expression.

“I’m starting to believe that’s an excuse.” Sorrow said, pulling away from him and heading back into the house, going straight to Harry, squeezing herself under his head, placing it in her lap.

She saw his eyes were blinking slowly but the tears didn’t stop and it was unsure if Harry could even hear her but she decided to give it a try anyway.

“If I helped you escape, could you really help me?” Sorrow asked hopeful, seeing Harry’s eyes come to meet hers.

“My friends are dead, my mom-“ Harry sobbed, his chest heaving up and down dramatically, unable to cope with the reality that it was real-he wanted more than anything not to believe it.

Sorrow shushed him, petting his cheek with the back of her head gently.

“We don’t know that for sure.” Sorrow soothed, relieved Harry seemed to be somewhat with it but worried for his mental state.

“Confirmed-it was confirmed, I want my mum, I want to go home, I want my friends!” Harry lost it, making Sorrow unsure what to do. The only thing she could think of was to sit him up and wrap her arms around him, what she didn’t expect was for Harry to return the embrace, pulling Sorrow to him and letting his head hit her chest, crying for everything he was worth.

Sorrow felt her resistance finally break, she knew in her heart what she had to do and playing games wasn’t one of them. She would see to it that she did everything in her power to get Harry home but the problem was, how?

I liked it– I'm jut seriously thrown off. I didn't expect that at all. I didn't see any signs that this wasn't real. I think that Angel or Axel was my favorites. I liked—though I still was just a little confused– the part where Harry was running through the forest, trying to find help for not only himself but Sorrow.

I'll definitely check out the Hostage and the Wanted.

lol - so you liked it? I always throw a curve ball - I told ya haha, always expect the unexpected when I write - but, to be fair you wanted a happy ending lol and that was a happy ending. So I'm gonna guess you liked the ending? If you did, I have another one I'm writing almost done with the prologue it's called The Hostage and the Wanted - you may wanna tune into that next, and the spy saga when I write it, I can comment here and let you know when they're up :-)

Regarding Stockholm, what did you like the most? Who was your favorite character?

What is life. I'm dead. You've killed me within my mind. I'm brainwashed—that was just a fanfiction, within a fanfiction?! I'm dead.

@coffeeandtea

haha, thank you :-) I'm really, really glad you liked it! I have another story I am going to be writing - more like 2. One is a reaper story and one is a an epic spy story with romance, betrayal, one direction as secret agents/spies, huge action, Harry getting in trouble for breaking the rules/order of the agency haha. I can write a better story then Stockholm :-) Stockholm was my basis for a start so I could get to know One Direction. I wrote this story having not known their names or anything about them other than their music (really) I did not know who they were when I started writing but I had a friend challenge me on a story and song lyric with a plot twist. She bet me I couldn't write a 1D fan fiction - I knew who 1D were before but I didn't know their names or anything about them. I did research and slowly started to build the characters. Although - I think I was tricked, I think she just wanted me to write a fan fiction and tricked me by saying I couldn't do it, haha. But I'm familiar with the guys now and personalities (somewhat) I still need to sit and watch videos but for the most part, I look forward to branching out for the next story which I hope you like if you read! Keep checking my profile if you want to continue to read other stories because new stories will be added :-) I should have the 1st episode to the spy story up later today and that one will be really, really epic/actiony as it will not be your normal spy story.
