Unnoticed
Chapter 1- First Day
"Goodnight." I kissed my mom on the cheek, then walking over to my dad and doing the same to his forehead.
I made my way to the stairs, taking them on two at a time. I went to my room and sat on my bed with the thought of a new school in mind. Tomorrow was Thursday, and it was my first my day at Lincoln High School. Once I enter those doors, I am officially a panther. My junior year at a new school, and a third of the year was already over. It's mid November and my birthday is in a week. What a great way to spend your seventeenth birthday; alone with all of your friends three hundred miles away.
I sat up straight on my bed to look around. This was my new room. It's nice, but it's not the same. I glance down at the picture of my best friend and I in my old room six years ago. I haven't heard from her ever since I moved here, which was about three weeks ago. I know she was going through a hard time, so I didn't want to make things worse by annoying her with my never ending text and calls. This picture was taken by my mom on my eleventh birthday. Our smiles were big and showed our true happiness. This house is bigger, it's in a better neighborhood, and this room is perfect; but I can't call it home like I was able to call the house I grew up in. Some part of me was gone, it stayed behind with our old house.
I decided I spent enough time thinking about the past; it's over, this is my life now.
I got up to be productive, to ready myself for tomorrow. I opened the door to my huge walk in closet, turning on the light and thinking of outfits that would be cute for a first day. I took my phone out of my back pocket and opened the weather app. I looked through the different cities until I found Portland, Oregon. I clicked it, adding it to the list of my forecast. Tomorrows date has a high of thirty-eight degrees; back in Ohio, it only got this cold in late December and early January.
I shoved aside each of the nice wooden hangers you would find in high-end stores, searching for a dress I had in mind. Once it caught my eye, I went to my tip toes to take it down from it's pole. A soft dark-red skater dress. I went to my knees and looked on the ground for black velvet ankle heels. I eventually I found every piece to the outfit I would wear tomorrow; including accessories, tights, boots, and the dress itself.
I made my way back to my bed, laying on my stomach and opening my silver Apple laptop. I searched through the several applications and shortcuts until I was able to find Tumblr. I click on the little blue icon, my previous session on it taking over the screen. I continue looking through the cute winter ideas, things to bake, cute couples, and different hair styles. I place my ear buds into my ear, listening to the soft alternative music as I scroll through the several images.
After awhile I close my laptop and place it back at the foot of my bed where my feet cannot quite reach. I tuck myself under the feathery comforter and blankets, snuggling up against my pillow. I reach for my phone and set it's alarm; 5:30 tomorrow, I will be waking up for my first day of school.
"Let me go, I don't want to be your hero" my alarm sounds off the famous song by Family of the Year. I hit the top of my phone, snoozing the alarm for ten minutes. Within three minutes, I was up on my feet, reaching high and low, stretching myself out. I shutoff my alarm and make my way towards the shower.
The warm beads of water hit my body sending goose bumps up and down my legs: making it hard to shave. I massage shampoo into my hair, trying not to get the white foam in my eyes.
I finish up washing my body and decided to get out. I towel dry my pale skin, wrapping myself in the over-sized towel. My hair was almost completely straight, making it easy to blow dry and curl.
By the time I did my make up and got dressed, it was seven. I made my way downstairs to the kitchen where my mom was making my lunch and placing it in my favorite Marvel lunch box.
"You ready?" My mom's voice seemed eased.
"Yeah." I lie. "I better get going."
"Okay Twinkers." She bid me goodbye. "Have a great day, I love you!"
I made way outside to the black BMW, each breath of mine creating little clouds in the cold air. I swing my book bag into the passenger seat, starting the car and turning the heat on full blast, angling all the vents at my small body.
The line to get in the parking lot was insane. It took fifteen minutes to get in, leaving less than a minute to get inside. I found an open parking spot in the back row, causing me to walk about forty yards in the below freezing air outside. The first bell rings. Surly I'll be late to my first class on my first day; I don't know where anything is. I made my way to the front door, I'm the last person standing outside. Through the clear double doors I can see hundreds of students rough housing and scrambling in different directions, trying their best not to be late. I gain the strength to open the door, a small wind of warmth sending shivers down my back I take two steps into the building, looking at the door closing behind me; but as I turn my head to take in the whole sight, I notice the chaos has stopped and all eyes are on me, everything has fallen silent without a single movement.
Notes
So I wasn't proud with the original first chapter I wrote because I knew I could do better. I think this one was more along the lines of what this story is about and I'm pretty happy with it, and I hope that you all are too. If you do like it, please comment and subscribe. I love reading all the comments I get and will respond to all that I can. Please vote your honest opinion. Thank you for reading! :)
My Little Secret
So ten months ago Jessica and I started to write a fanfic called "My Little Secret". It was a late birthday gift for me because I wanted to write a fanfic with her. We got such a great response out of it that we continued it for awhile and even made a short sequel. We have grown a lot as writers since then and would like to make it better. It got on the forth popular page the first time we wrote it and hope to get it on the first popular page. I'm really excited to re-write this because I had such a great time writing it the first time, and now that I can write better, I think I'm going to have more fun. If you have already or would like to, please go check it out under my profile. Thank you! :)
I love it so far!!!!
