The Good Girl and the Bad Boy
Dates and L-O-V-E?
ALLY’S POV
“So what are we doing today?” Harry asked me as he sat down next to me on the couch.
I rolled my eyes.“Well, since I’m not allowed to actually do anything, I guess I’ll have to stay put and watch movies again.”
“Most people would kill for the chance to ‘stay put and watch movies’ all day, you know”, Harry said, clearly amused.
I snorted. “Well, not me”, I said and stood up to go get some good movies we could watch.
Since Harry was staying here willingly, he’d have to stand the movies I liked. I almost burst out laughing at the picture of Harry watching Vampire Academy with me.
“What’s so funny?” Harry asked. “And be careful. I can get it for you, you know.”
I rolled my eyes. “Nope”, I said, and avoided answering the other question. For some reason, I didn’t think I’d be able to watch my favorite movies if I told him.
I chose a few good movies – mostly really girlie ones that I knew Harry’d hate – and went back to the living room.
The first one was Vampire Academy.
When it started, Harry frowned. “Vampire Academy? That sounds …”
I grinned. “It’s great”, I said, but it didn’t seem like he agreed.
“What the hell?” he said at one scene. I laughed when I saw his reaction. “What is this crap?”
I rolled my eyes. “It’s my favorite movie and book, so don’t insult it unless you want me to stick a butter knife through your eye.”
I loved using book references, especially with people I knew hadn’t read it, since they didn’t get it. It was always humorous watching as they couldn’t understand where I got everything from.
Harry frowned. “That doesn’t sound very fun”, he said.
“Then shut up”, I said, and so he did.
We watched the rest of the movie in silence.
HARRY’S POV
I stayed with her every day until she was ready to leave the house. Then I brought her for dinner. I had never taken anyone on a date before, so it felt kind of weird, and I was nervous. I barely believed it myself, but I really cared about Ally, so I wanted the date to go well. If it even was a date.
“Are you sure you’re fine?” I asked her for the umpteenth time. I didn’t want to take her to lunch if it would hurt her.
She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Yes”, she said, a little annoyed. “I’m fine.”
“Hey!” I said at her clear annoyance. “I watched stupid teen movies with you all week, the least you can do is let me make sure you’re fine.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Did you want a butter knife in your eye? And besides, you're a teen, too.”
“You’re crazy, you know that?” I said, meaning every word – but I loved that about her, like I loved everything about her.
Realization hit me like a ton of bricks. I was falling for Ally. What had started out as a challenge, proving a point, had changed so quickly to something else, something that scared the shit out of me, and I hadn’t even realized it until it was too late.
If I had, I would have run a long time ago.
Or would I? Maybe I couldn’t have, even if I tried. Fuck, I didn’t know, and I hated it. Usually, I would just fuck and then be on my way. I’d never cared, I just did what I wanted, who I wanted, when I wanted, no strings attached. How could this sarcastic, annoying, innocent girl change everything so drastically?
“So what are we doing?” Ally said, pulling me out of my deep thoughts.
A mischievous smirk immediately found its way onto my lips. “You wanna know what I want to do?”
Ally bit her lip, as in deep thought, considering her answer carefully. My guess was that the smirk plastered across my face was enough to make her suspicious. At last, she sighed. “Probably not”, she admitted, “but tell me anyway.”
My smirk grew, and I said, “You.”
Her eyes widened and she blushed deeply. I loved how I could so easily make her blush. I loved when she blushed because of me.
“I-I”, she stuttered.
“But for now, we’re going on a date”, I continued.
She stared at me like I’d grown two heads. “W-what?” she said, shock evident on her face.
“A date”, I repeated. “And not one of those boring ones you have to learn at school, but a hot one.”
She was silent, clearly not knowing what to say. I’d surprised her. Hell, I’d even surprised myself.
I drove us to the place we’d eat, and the waitress showed us to a very secluded corner at my request, all the while I watched Ally’s expressions very carefully. It was clear that she was still shocked, but now she seemed happy beneath all that shock, and I was relieved. I hoped I didn’t disappoint her, but truthfully, I knew nothing about dating.
A few minutes later, another waitress came to take our orders. “Hello, I’m Isabelle, and I’ll be your waitress for the day”, she said. “Can I take your orders?”
I barely even looked at her, but continued to look at Ally. “I’ll have a hamburger”, I said.
Ally was blushing, probably because I was basically staring at her, but she looked at the waitress and ordered a salad.
“Nothing else?” Isabelle asked, and I finally moved my gaze from Ally. Isabelle was tall and blond, and a week ago, I would’ve flirted with her. Now, though, I got annoyed by the way she was looking at only me, ignoring Ally completely, and said “no”. She seemed disappointed, but hid it quickly and hurried away.
I turned back to Ally, noticing her frown. “What’s wrong, baby?” I asked, and her cheeks turned red again.
She looked away. “N-nothing”, she stuttered. I chuckled at her obvious discomfort, but didn’t push it.
“Are you still feeling okay?” I asked.
This time, she didn’t get as annoyed, for a reason unknown to me. “I’m fine”, she mumbled, staring at her lap.
The waitress arrived with our food a little while later, and I eyes her salad curiously. She didn’t seem like the kind of girl who’d starve herself.
“Are you not hungry?” I asked worriedly.
She shook her head. “No, I am”, she said.
“Then why…?”
“I’m a vegetarian”, she said.
The lunch was very awkward, probably because I had literally zero experience in lunch-dates – or dates in general – and by the time we were finished and ready to get to the next part of the date, I’d made her blush more times than I could count.
Next, I brought her to the park. At this time a Monday, it was empty, everyone was at work, which worked perfectly for me.
The park surprised Ally even more than the restaurant had, and I understood her reaction. I really wasn’t the kind of guy who’d bring someone to the park.
We went to the swing set, and she sat down on one of the swings, while I stood behind her and pushed. I’d called Perrie before, asking what to do, since I didn’t know the first thing about dating, and, though hesitantly, she’d helped me. Apparently, it was romantic or something if the guy pushed the girl.
We didn’t talk much, but this time, it wasn’t an awkward silence. It was comfortable, neither of us feeling the need to talk about whatever boring stuff.
I didn’t know how long we continued that way, but after a while, she stopped the swing and stood up. At first, she stumbled a little, and I grabbed her arm to steady her, remembering her head. Fuck, I’d completely forgotten about that.
Then she seemed to steady herself, and she tapped my arm lightly, saying “Tag! You’re it!” and then started running. For about a second, I stood there, staring at her, worried that it would be too much for her head, but when she turned away, a smile on her lips, I couldn’t help but to run after her. I’d do anything to make her smile like that.
It didn’t take me too long to catch up with her; I was much faster than her. I had to admire her stubbornness, though; even though it was completely hopeless, she didn’t give up. After a while, I decided to slow down just slightly, so she’d be able to catch up, but I didn’t expect her to jump at my back, and I fell. She landed on top of me, so I took the worse of it, thankfully.
She tapped my arm. “You’re it”, she said breathlessly.
I flipped us over so that I was on top of her instead, and her breath hitched. “No”, I said, and couldn’t stop staring at her mouth. “You’re it.” Fuck, I sounded like a child.
Her mouth parted slightly, and it took everything in me not to kiss her right then and there, and much more.
Then she suddenly pressed her lips against mine, and I was too shocked at first to do something, but then I kissed her back. I don’t think she’d prepared for the intensity, because once I kissed her back, she gasped, and I took the opportunity to slip my tongue in. The date was completely forgotten, as was my attempt to treat her properly, like a lady. Though that attempt was probably ruined the moment we started tag.
She was the first to pull away, breathing hard. Her eyes were wide, and filled with an emotion I couldn’t decipher. “Wow”, she said, with the same breathless voice that so turned me on.
“Wow?” I repeated, and smiled mischievously. “I can work on that.”
She blushed.
With more effort than I’d like to admit – I really enjoyed being pressed against Ally – I sat up, and pulled her with me. That’s when I noticed it was almost sunset. Ally seemed thrilled by the idea of watching the sunset, but I couldn’t care less. I was happy just watching her.
“Still okay?” I asked, and she smiled.
“I’m fine”, she said, not annoyed at all by my question this time.
We watched the sunset in a peaceful silence – or, she watched the sunset, I watched her.
“It’s beautiful”, she mumbled, happier than I’d ever seen her, and I wondered what part made her so happy.
“Not as beautiful as you”, I said without thinking, and she blushed again, and turned to me. The happiness in her eyes was enough to make me happy I’d taken her on the date. And then she kissed me again.
That single kiss made me get the whole “romantic” thing that girls were so obsessed with.
We stayed there for a while longer, her head on my shoulder, a peaceful expression on her face, and I felt so happy for making her happy. For actually being able to make her so happy.
Then I took her home. I even followed her to the door. She turned around, smiling. “I had really fun today”, she said. “Thank you.” Then she kissed me. It was a slow kiss, not as intense as previous kisses, but it still made my heart flutter.
I walked away smiling.
Notes
I am so, so sorry for the long wait, but I haven't been myself lately, so before the break, I was too stressed to bother trying to write. If I did, it probably would've ended with everyone dead or something.
Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter, and reading it from Harry's POV (what did you think of that? Too much, too little?), and I'll try to update sooner this time.
