The Good Girl and the Bad Boy
Sweet Harry
The next day, I was working on the last book in my trilogy when I was interrupted by my phone ringing.
I sighed. I hated to get interrupted when I was writing, it ruined the mood, but I picked up anyway. “It’s Ally”, I said.
“Ally”, Luke said. “You haven’t heard anything from dad, have you?”
I frowned. “No”, I said. “Why? Is something going on?”
He hesitated for a moment. “Well, yeah”, he said. “He and Nancy is kind of … visiting.”
I stood up so quickly that the force sent my chair flying. “What?” I exclaimed. “Why? When?”
Luke sighed. “Well, tomorrow”, he said. “Mom said he said they wanted to congratulate you or something. I don’t know, I just thought I’d warn you.”
“Are the kids coming?” I asked.
“I honestly don’t know”, Luke said. “I’m sorry. Mom only told me he’d told her they were coming for a few days or something.”
I bit my cheek to stop from crying. “Okay. Thank you for calling me, Luke.”
I knew he was pressing his lips together, frowning deeply. “I’m really sorry, Ally. If I’d known,
I would’ve done something, talked him out of it or something …”
I blinked away a few tears. “No, it’s fine, Luke”, I said. “I’d have to talk to him sooner or later, I knew that. I just didn’t think it would be so soon.”
“You sure?”
“Yes, I’ll handle it.”
Okay, small lie. I’d freak out, but anyway. It wasn’t like I had any choice. He was, after all, my father, no matter how much I wished he wasn’t.
“Alright, Luke, I have to go to work soon, but we’ll do something before you leave, right?”
“Yes, of course”, he said. “We need to talk, anyway. Ashton told me about your ‘shopping’.”
I grimaced. “Oh”, I said. “That was all Perrie’s idea, you know. I didn’t know she planned anything, I just thought it’d be shopping with her only.”
“Just be careful, Alls”, he said. “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Don’t worry, Lukey”, I said. “In order to get hurt, you have to actually care.”
He didn’t respond to that, so I hung up with a ‘Bye’.
I didn’t get anything else written that day. I stressed out about my father visiting and when I was finished at Starbucks, I just wanted to go home and get some sleep, but Harry had other plans.
Just when I was about to leave after my shift, Harry turned up. I sighed, not needing to handle him right now. He went straight to me.
“I’m not working right now, Harry”, I muttered. “Go pester someone else.”
Harry looked almost hurt, but I knew it was just an act. “I want to talk to you”, he said and grabbed my hand and dragged me outside and to the back, where no one would see us.
I pulled my hand away as soon as we were there. “What do you want, Harry?” I asked. Sure, I sounded rude, but I was not in the mood.
“I wanted to ask you something, actually”, he said. “Who’s Ashton? Are you two like dating?”
I rolled my eyes. “Me and Ashton?” I said. “No, not at all. He’s Luke’s best friend, and he’s like a brother to me. Dating him would be weird and awkward, to say the least.”
Harry looked confused. “Then why did you act like it yesterday?”
“First of all, I weren’t”, I lied. “We’ve known each other since we were four. We act like that together, like family, and to people who don’t know us, it may seem like we’re a couple. God know media’s thought I’ve dated all of the guys in 5SOS. Second of all, what do you care? You already have another girlfriend.” I bit my lip when I realized how stupid and jealous that sounded.
Harry raised one eyebrow. “I don’t have a girlfriend”, he said. “You know I don’t date. Hanna was an old drunken mistake.”
“Didn’t look like it yesterday”, I said. Harry pushed me against the wall and placed his hands on either side of my face, and my breath hitched and my heart started racing.
“Are you jealous?” he asked, his lips only inches from mine. I could feel his hot breath on my lips, and shuddered.
“N-no”, I muttered.
He pressed closer to me, so I could feel every inch of him. I had to press my hands to the wall behind me to keep them from doing something stupid.
“Are you sure?” he whispered, even closer to my lips. My mind told me to push him away, but I just kept my hands at my sides, my mouth parting slightly. Harry smirked. “I knew it.”
I frowned. “Why would I be—“ I was cut off by Harry’s mouth pressing against mine. My mind screamed at me to push him away, that my life was too complicated as it was, but it seemed like my body had a mind of its own, because I ignored my mind and pushed off the wall to come even closer to him than I already was.
I could feel his smirk growing wider at my response, and I knew that this was a terrible idea, but I didn’t care. My hands lifted from my sides to work their way up Harry’s muscular arms and around his neck, to tangle in his hair. I had to stand on my tiptoes to reach.
Harry seemed to really like my response; he removed his hands from the wall and snaked them around my waist to pull me closer. Then one of his hands traveled down to the hem of my shirt, and under it, and I gasped when I felt his hand against my stomach.
He placed his hands on my waist again, and lifted me off the ground. I hooked my legs around him, and he pressed me against the wall once again. Then his hands found their way under the hem of my shirt again, and I stopped thinking altogether.
He started kissing down my jawline and neck, sucking and biting, until he found that sweet spot again, and I moaned. He sucked harder on that spot, and I bit my lip hard to strangle my moans.
“I knew it”, Harry muttered against my neck. “I knew you wanted me too.”
My breath hitched in my throat.
Harry smirked. “I’m going to make you feel so good”, he said. My eyes widened at his remark, and brought me back to reality. I couldn’t do this. I could not be doing this with Harry – Harry, of all people, who’d told me he wanted nothing more than a one night stand, which I definitely would not give him.
I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him away. He looked at me, confused, and I unhooked my legs and pulled away several feet.
“Ally?”
I shook my head. “No”, I said. “I’m not going to do that, okay?”
“But I know you want to”, he said huskily. “I know you feel good when I kiss you, when I touch you.”
“It doesn’t matter”, I said. “I’m not going to be that girl. End of story.”
I spun around and basically ran to my car.
The next day I woke up by someone knocking on the door rapidly. I sighed, but got dressed really quickly in whatever I could find, which happened to be a pair of shorts Perrie had gotten me and that I’d never used, and a plain shirt. Then I shuddered from cold, and grabbed a blanket to pull around me.
When I opened the door, I got the worst shock of my life. There, outside of my house, were Eric.
My eyes widened, and I tried to close the door, but he wouldn’t have it. He put his foot in between, then grabbed the door and easily opened it and stepped around me into the apartment.
His eyes scanned the room judgingly. “Huh”, he muttered. “Not what I’d hoped, but I guess it’s cozy enough.” He took a step towards me, closing the door as he did, and I took an involuntarily step backwards. “What, aren’t you going to say hello to me?” he wondered. My back hit the wall, and he pressed against me. He didn’t give me time to think about what was going on before he pressed his lips against mine, hard.
The feel of him, of his lips, after all those years, made me want to throw up, or cry, or scream in frustration, or all three. I tried pushing him away, but that only made him angry. “I told you before”, he said, “don’t push me away. You know what happens when you do.”
When he kissed me again, I refused to kiss him back. “Kiss me back”, he seethed, and I panicked. I tried to push him away, and struggled up until he smacked me.
My eyes filled with tears, and my reaction seemed to give him some satisfaction. “You do remember the punishment if you don’t do as I say, don’t you?” he said, and his fingers found their way to my neck. He pressed down slightly. “You haven’t forgotten that I have the full power here, have you?” He lifted me up and threw me against the opposite wall. I felt something wet trickle my cheek, and knew that I’d hit my head pretty hard. He sat down next to me. “Don’t you ever forget that I can make you do anything.” He picked me up again, and pushed me against the wall, pushing against my throat, cutting my airways off.
My vision started blurring, when I vaguely heard the door open, and then Eric was ripped off me. I fell to the floor, too weak to move to check what was going on.
“You’re going to leave this place right this moment, okay?” I heard a familiar voice. “And you’re never going to come back. Understand?”
I heard Eric mutter some response, and then I heard the door close.
Harry was at my side in an instant. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice laced with worry. “Should I call the ambulance?”
I shook my head. “N-no”, I said. “Just … help me up … the living room.” I was used to my voice breaking a few hours, sometimes days, after that. I even kept tea at all times just to make sure I had it if it ever happened again.
Harry didn’t help me up. Instead, he picked me up bridal style and put me carefully on the couch. “What do you need? Could I get you some water, or something …?” It was obvious he didn’t have a clue what to do – understandingly. No one should have to handle a situation like this.
“Tea, please”, I croaked out.
Harry grimaced at my voice, but hurried to the kitchen to make some tea.
When he came back a few minutes later, he carried a cup of steaming tea. He handed me the cup and sat down next to me, bringing the blanket up so it was covering me. “Tell me?” he asked.
I sighed heavily, then grimaced at the pain in my throat. Then, without any warning, I burst into tears. Harry looked frightened at first, but then he pulled me closer to him, carefully, and hugged me to him. I rested my head on his chest and let myself cry over everything for the first time in a very long time.
“Wow”, Harry said. “Ally, you’re bleeding!”
I blinked and pulled away. When I gently touched my head, where I hit it, I touched something wet. When I removed it, it was red with blood.
My eyes widened. This’d happened before, I’d started bleeding several times because of Eric, but the sight of blood – especially my blood – still scared and made me nauseous.
“Oh”, I said.
Harry pulled his shirt over his head, and my eyes widened again. “What are you doing?” I said. For some reason, I couldn’t stop staring at his now bare chest. It was, like I’d assumed when I saw him the first time, very muscular.
Harry smirked for a second when he noticed me staring, but he quickly became serious again. “Come here”, he said and motioned for me to come closer, which I did. He then pressed the shirt against the cut in my head.
Then he pulled me back against his chest. “Are you okay?” he asked.
I shrugged. “I don’t know”, I said honestly.
“Should I drive you to the hospital?”
“No”, I said. “This is … Well, I’m not so sensitive anymore. I’m kind of used to it by now. I will be fine.”
“You shouldn’t have to get used to something like that”, Harry said. “Who was that, anyway?”
