And Her Name Was Day
Chapter 3
Day's POV
outfit (later in the story)
"What about you?" I asked Louis starting to finish making the plates of food.
"Well I've worked for your dad since I was 16, just started actu-"
"Whoa whoa whoa, you've been doing this since you were sixteen?" I asked amazed.
"No, I was about to explain and then you interrupted me." He stated bluntly.
"Oh, sorry. Continue." I said.
"I stated actually going and fighting pr protecting people about a year ago, when I turned twenty-five. When I was sixteen, I did more behind the scenes type of stuff." He explained.
"Behind the scenes stuff?"
"Here let me show you." He pulled a laptop over from the table and sat down gesturing for me to come over to him. After typing in what seemed to be about a hundred passwords, a map of L.A popped up with a bunch of different dots.
"Okay, so the green dots represent our gang's bases. See how they form a circle around the city? That's for defense and protection. All of the red dots represent PTV gang bases. They are more scattered, less protected. The yellow dots are your homes. One where you lives before, one where you live now and one where it's like a back up safe house. See how their all surrounded by green and no red for at least fifty miles? Once again, protection. The blue dots represent unknown gangs. They could be PTV gang bases, and they could be just random gangs. But we make sure you're at least twenty five miles from all of those, at least until we confirm if they are safe or not. And then we have the orange dots. Vehicles. Vehicles for PTV. If they get to close to a green dot or a yellow dot, we are to note security. That's what I did when I was sixteen."
I recognized PTV as being my dad's most trouble-some enemy gang. They had hated each other since the gangs were formed.
"If you are supposed to note security when an orange dot gets too close to a yellow dot, then why didn't security get notified when my mom and brother where murdered?" I asked angry.
Louis starred at me for a moment, glanced back at the screen, then me again, "You're a genius! You're absolutely right, security should have been noted and your mom and brother should have been saved. Why security wasn't noted, I have no idea. I need to make a phone call." He quickly got up and went down the hall to what I believe was the office that he would be using for work purposes. After staring at my food for a while, I began to feel sick at the thought of eating so I pushed it away from me and began to look around the living room. After about fifteen minuets I got bored of waiting for Louis so I went to go see what he was doing.
"Well I know we have a system that rotates every five hours but I need to know who was on duty at about six o'clock last night!" I heard Louis as I approached the closed office doors. Last night? I hardly realized that it was two o'clock in the morning.
After a long pause, Louis began talking again. "David Syclose? Thanks again." He said before what I assumed would be him hanging up.
I knew that name. I know I had seen it before somewhere. I thought hard about it before I remembered. I quickly ran up the steps to my room and grabbed my phone off of the bed. I quickly dialed Cooper's number and paced as it rang.
"Hello?" A groggy Cooper answered.
"Cooper it's Day. I need you to wake up and do me a favor." I rushed.
"Are you in trouble? Where are you? I'm on my way." I could hear him getting up and going through dresser drawers.
"No, I'm not in trouble but I need to know if you recognize the name David Syclose? I think I saw a file with his name on it at the police station, I need to know who he is."
"The name sounds familiar do you need me to check the records on my computer?"
"Could you? That would be amazing Coop." I said getting excited.
"Sure give me a minuet." I heard him yawn then shuffle around.
After a few minuets he replied, "Okay, so as far as I know he is about twenty one years old, and has been arrested a couple of times by some of our guys."
"What was he arrested for?" I asked quickly.
"Gang activity all three times. The gang PTV?" Copper yawned again.
"Okay thank you so so much. How much trouble would you get in for e-mailing me his files?" I asked.
"You? Could go to jail. Detective Tomlinson? I could say it's for the case." He replied.
"You would do that? Oh my gosh Cooper that would be amazing! Do you have his email?"
"Yeah, I got it. You stay safe okay? Those files will be there any moment."
"Will do." I replied saying thank you and goodbye one last time before hanging up.
I ran back down the steps to Louis who had came back put into the living room.
"I need to get onto your e-mail. It's important." I told hi
quickly.
"I thought you had gone to bed. But okay?" He said hesitantly.
"Thank you so much." I said and sat down in front of the computer as he logged on to his e-mail. I clicked the new message from Cooper and turned the screen back to him.
"See this guy? Well I heard you talking on the phone about David Syclose working on the security thing when my mom and brother were killed and recognized the name. I gave Cooper a call, he's my friend at the police station, and he has a file on him. He's been arrested three times by the police for gang related activity. and guess what gang it's for?"
"PTV. You are amazing I can't believe how good you are at figuring this stuff out. I'll make the phone call to your dad's office and you should get some rest, it's been a long night. Okay?" He said.
I nodded and went upstairs to my room. It felt as though a week had already passed since my mom and brother had been killed. I was never one to hold on to emotions for too long, and I knew that my mom and brother were in a safer place now. I was still upset, but I couldn't cry forever. I was more angry than anything now that this had happened and I just wanted to see the person that did this suffer.
I remembered that I had not brought any clothes with me so I checked to see that there were only one pair of pajamas and one put fit in the whole room. I guess someone planned on being able to go shopping or packing bags if we ever needed this house. I put on the pajamas and decided to look around even more. Inside the closet I opened up a huge cabinet to reveal a large safe. I tried different random codes to unlock it. When I put in my birthday, the safe clicked open. There were many shelfs in the safe and I saw a sticky note with extremely small writing on it placed in front of one. On it there was a note:
Dearest Day,
I always knew that you would pick this room and would figure out the code. You were always so smart. All of this belongs to you, and only you. I do not know what clothes you where so please feel free to but as much as you want/need. I do hope that you are safe and in the event that your mom/brother were hurt there are safes just like this in the main bedroom and the one next to theirs. If they were hurt, what was theirs is yours.
Love, Daddy
I finished reading the back of the noteand finally noticed all of the money in the shelves. There was money from almost every country placed in the shelves in big thick stacks. Most of the money was American, and I was amazed by how much money was in here. I realized that my mom's and brother's room were probably identical to this and how it would all be my money. At least I could make a living for myself and be able to support myself.
I began to feel the need to sleep so a wondered over to my bed after locking the safe again and closing the closet doors. As i laid in the big quiet room, sleep quickly took over me and I drifted off into a deep slumber
---------------------------------------------------------
The next morning a woke up and looked at the clock. It displayed: 12:45 in big bold letters. I decided that I would have to go shopping for new clothes today because I was defiantly not going back to my house. I couldn't just mope around the house all day either. I put on the one outfit that my dad had left me. It was pretty cute but a little fancy. Guess that would have to do. I walked down stairs where Louis was already up and at the table drinking tea.
"So I have like absolutely no clothes except for this so we need to go shopping. I have money in my room and I'm ready when you are." I said approaching him.
"And who says we are going shopping?" He asked smiling.
"I do. I really need clothes and I'm assuming you do too. I can't sit around and mope all day. So I'm calling my friend Keely and we are going shopping." I stated.
"Okay I just need to grab my phone. I don't have to much money so I don't kn-"
"There's like a million dollars in my closet."
"Of course there is."
Notes
I just wanted to note that this story is 100% mine and has been for about a year. This has already been published on another site and I may make a few changes from that copy, but it is all mine and not at all plagiarized. Withthousands of One Direction stories out there, one is bound to at least look a little like it.
On the brighter side, two chapters in one day! Please vote, comment, and subscribe!
