Xenophobia

TWELVE

Khai got better and Friday rolled around quicker than usual. Both Melissa and Khai were buzzing with excitement for their plans later down in the evening. Though her mother wouldn't tell her where they were going, Khai knew she would enjoy herself. Melissa always knew how to had a good time. Despite recent tragedies, she always outdid herself when it came to having fun - especially with her daughter.

The vague memory of when her mother switched her non alcoholic champagne with beer at a Christmas dinner they went to. According to Melissa, it was some sort of initiation into womanhood when Khai started her period at the age of thirteen.

Yeah, her mother was kinda cool.

"Nice nose ring," Khai says.

Violet glares at her best friend before playfully pushing her. "Shut up, K."

"You did not just call me 'K'," Khai rolls her eyes.

"Oh but I did. And you should call me V."

Khai laughs. "What's it with you and these Gossip Girl references these days?"
Violet shrugs, laughing. "I don't know. But from now on we will call each other by our first name initial."

"Like hell we will."

Violet was about to whine but was soon cut off by the ear splitting sound of the school bell, signifying that first period was about to begin. She had Chemistry while Khai had Gym. The pair parts ways, agreeing to meet each other in the quad before third period begins.

Mr. Walker, the gym teacher, was in the middle of going over the rules of volleyball when no other than Mr. Harry Styles himself walks in. A few words were exchanged between Harry and Mr. Walker before he projects his voice to speak, "Khai Jackson, the principal wants to see you."

A series of ooo's fill the air and Khai rolls her eyes, knowing fully that Mr. Yee Sing did not want to see her. But this was just another one of Harry's tricks to get her out of class. For what reason? She did not know.
They both exit the gym. It is silent before Khai speaks up. "So why does the principal want to see me?"

"He's heard you've been a bad girl," Harrys words are slow. They were laced with lust and a hint of frustration. She decided to play with him.

She stops him in the deserted hallway, gently forcing him up against a few lockers. She tracers her pointer across his very prominent jaw line before leaning in, brushing her lips against his right ear. "I can assure him that I've been a good girl."

Harry audibly growls, knowing exactly what Khai is trying to do. And God, was it working.

He gripped her wrists, not too tight, but firm enough to drag her to a supply closet down the hall. Once inside, their lips didn't hesitate to meet. Moulding together perfectly in sync. They were like puzzle pieces that fit miraculously together. The only sound audible is the rubbing of their fabric against each other and their heavy breathing. Their proximity was suffocatingly close, but somehow, they pulled each other even closer.

A few tongue swipes, ass grabbing and lip biting later, the two pull apart. Foreheads pressed against each other while they stare deeply into each other's eyes. Brown meeting green and green meeting brown.
Harrys hand comes to brush some of her hair out of her face. "You're so damn beautiful."

Khai blushes Crimson red, closing her eyes. Harrys hand moves towards her chin, tilting it up. "Hey, look at me," he says.

Slowly, she opens her eyes, taking in the beauty that is Harry Styles. His pale green eyes burning into hers making Khai's stomach acid roar like violent tsunami waves and her knees weak. Harrys words came out slow. They were full of meaning, like he wanted to imprint his words permanently in her brain.

"You are beautiful, Khai Jackson."

And with that, she leans in to kiss him.

They pull away from each other. "So you excited for tonight with your mother?" Harry asks.

"Yeah!" She answers. "Even though I don't know what she's planning, I know it'll be fun."

Harry hums in response, before suggesting they both head back to class before the send a search party looking for the two. Khai agrees, and with one last kiss, the depart ways.

"You've got five minutes Khai!" Melissa yells from the living room. Khai yells back a 'coming' before grabbing her brush to somewhat tame her hair. Melissa finally told her daughter what they would be doing tonight, and It would be an understatement to say Khai was excited.

Bowling.

Khai loved bowling with all her heart. Memories of going her father teacher her how to bowl are still fresh in her mind when she enters the living room.

"I'm read-" Khai was cut off when she sees an unfamiliar mop of bleached hair sitting on the leather couch.

"Khai, you're ready," Melissa emerges from the kitchen, a woman with extremely long, blonde hair trailing behind her.

Khai waits for her to introduce her to the strangers lounging in their home.

"This is Joanna, my friend from work," she gestures to the woman behind her. They shake hands before Melissa gestures towards the boy. "And this is her son, Blue."

And wow did his name match his eyes perfectly. Words could not describe how beautiful the boy was. His bleached hair was styled messily up into a quiff. A smirk playing at his lips and well his eyes. They were blue. A striking blue that fit his physical features amazingly. He was dressed in black from head to toe, and Khai would've been intimidated if it wasn't for how gently he shook her hand and smiled at her.

"They'll be joining us tonight," Melissa says. And that's when it hit Khai. She knew, she just knew what her mother was up to so she politely excused the two of them before dragging her mother into the kitchen.

"Why?" was all Khai asked.

"Lighten up Khai, Blue is a nice kid. Did you know he's studying forensic science and is a model?"
Khai rolls her eyes but her mother continues. "Plus I've never seen you bring a boy home."

"I did and you threw him out!" Khai hissed at her mother. She was boiling at this point. Everything came crashing down on her and she couldn't stop the tears from welling up in her eyes.

"Don't cry baby." But she couldn't stop. Khai just wanted to freely be with Harry. She was tired of sneaking around. Tired of being prohibited from being with the one whom she loved dearly. She wanted to be able to have dinner with him and her mother. She wanted to be able to go to his house and cook with his mother and bond with his asshole father. She wanted to have a future with Harry without any cons. She wanted to be able to have one big family dinner on christmas or thanksgiving. But she couldn't and that's when she started to hate everything about herself. From her brown eyes to the darkness in the pigment of her skin, she despised it. Because that was the reason she couldn't be normally happy with Harry.

And she couldn't stop crying.

She just couldn't.

Notes

So this is how I imagine Blue. But you can imagine him as anyone as you want. (:

You're very welcome! And Wattpad is a great community. I also, myself, write on there. I say go for it when you're ready. :)

@One Direction 1O1
Thank you for your love and kind words. I'm so happy you enjoyed this story despite the very abrupt ending. I do intend on writing again. Maybe on wattpad perhaps to gain a wider audience, maybe it would be here once again. I'm not sure, but I will definitely let you know. All the love to you xx
