Good Intentions ⇼ Luke Hemmings

Sixteen.

Well, it’s Saturday morning. It’s been nearly a week since I last spoke to Luke. I’ve had the flu and had been confined to my flat, feeling miserable with sickness. Maiko and I haven’t spoke much, but since I’m finally getting over the flu, he’s coming over to talk. Later tonight, if I’m feeling well enough, I’m planning to go to a carnival with Kaylee, Ash, Josi, Ella, Steph, Calum, and Mikey.

As I’m sat on the couch, watching reruns of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Maiko entered my flat and sat next to me. He had his head down and he didn’t look at me.
“Is everything alright?” I asked with my eyes glued to the telly. Although I felt horrible about it, I didn’t really care what was on his mind. Over the course of the week, I’d come to the conclusion that going to visit Maiko on Monday afternoon was the exact opposite of what I needed right now. It was possibly the biggest mistake I could have made, and I regret going as far as I did in attempts to make Luke jealous. I shouldn’t have went there. Why the fuck did I go there?

“I don’t know.” Maiko sighed. “Look, we have to talk, can you shut that thing off?” He pushed his hair from his face, rubbing his eyes. I obliged, shutting the telly off. “Look, Romina… It hurts me so much to say this because I know you don’t deserve it-” I cut him off.
“Just say it.” He held his hand up, as if telling me to stop talking. I obeyed, keeping my mouth shut as he continued.
“But, god dammit. I have to say it. I need to break away from you once and for all. You’re beautiful, you’re insanely gorgeous, but you treat me like trash. You use me, and that’s a sucky feeling, babe. You don’t love me, you love the idea of me. And, after hours of thinking and crying, I decided that I no longer want you.” He stood up, fishing something out of his pocket. “I hope we can still be friends, I brought you some medicine.” And with that, Maiko left my flat. It sounds horrible, but what he said was nothing but the truth—I knew that, and because I knew that, all I could do was smile. Maiko finally grew up and moved on. For that, I’m proud.

Kaylee picked me, Ella, and Steph up and we all got ready together before heading to the fair. After stopping for dinner(which seemed a bit too tedious for my liking), we finally found the boys, and among them was Luke. I pursed my lips and held in an internal groan as we waited in line for the ferris wheel, and of course, I was paired up with him. As soon as we were alone, he turned to me.
“You haven’t been at work.” He blandly stated, his breath had alcohol lining it.
“I’ve been ill.” I shrugged, trying my best not to look at him as we sat down and pulled the safety bar across our laps.
“Still mad at me?” He asked.
“I don’t know.” My voice was a mere mutter, as I really did not have the energy to speak with him.

“It’s a yes or no answer.” He scoffed. “I’m a man, I can take it.” He slightly smirked.
“That’s just it, Luke. You’re not a man, you’re a boy.” I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms as I finally looked at him.
“I’m wounded.” He teased, holding his chest and pretending as if my words had any effect on him. “Really, ouch.” He milked.
“This is exactly what I’m talking about.” I admitted. “You always have a smartarse comment. You don’t own up to anything. Stop being a fucking child, Lucas!” I growled.
“Oh, I’m the child?!” He yelled. “Fine, I’ll say it!” He stood up, turning around to face our friends in the seats behind us. “Hey guys! Romy and I fucked on Christmas day because her greedy little arse couldn’t live without the undying love and attention from her prick of a boyfriend!” My eyes widened as I heard small gasps.

“Luke Hemmings! Sit down!” Kaylee ordered, the carnies yelling inaudible slurs.
“Luke!” Calum, Steph, and Ashton yelled in unison. I reached forward to grab his arm and tug it down. Just as I did, the ride screeched to a halt, jerking me forward slightly as Luke lost his balance and toppled over the safety bar.
“Luke!!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.

Notes
