Chapter 1

December 21, 2007

8:14 a.m.

*Zayn's POV*

I wake up, yawning and looking at the time. I smile and I go downstairs, starting a quick pot of tea before grabbing my laptop and checking a few emails as the tea brews.

I smile as I read an email sent by a client and I read it softly aloud:

'Dear Zayn,

Thanks so much for finding me the house I wanted. It has the necessities I needed and it is great for my family, being my mum and dad. I wanted to see if maybe coffee would be an interest of yours? I would like to tell you more in depth about Pride and Prejudice copy that I had. Oh! And I also would like to explain to you about the gaudy duties of war. (Not really, I just want to explain Pride and Prejudice.) Anyway, I thought maybe on Tuesday we could catch that coffee. Email me back. Thanks so much, again.

Always,
Liam Payne'

I laugh and start the email out.

'Liam,

Pride and Prejudice, eh? That book was quite the deal breaker for me, to be totally honest with you. I'm glad I could help with the housing situation with your mum and dad. I hope that your Mum gets to feeling better, yeah? Also, about coffee? I'm really not supposed to be going out to places with clients other than the showing of a house.. But I guess I can make an exception. And war. War really isn't my thing.. I find it quite depressing and I feel like I will be killed eternally if I talk about any of the details. No pun intended. Anyway, I would very much like to see you today. 3, maybe? My tea is almost done brewing, because I can hear that stupid static in the background. I will see you at three, Mr. Payne.

Sincerely,
Mr. Zayn Malik'

I laugh as I hit send, almost a whirl of smells wafts through the room as I take the tea of off the burner and pour some into my cup. I walk out to my patio and I watch the sun rise slowly. It has always been a wonder to me, that sun. It can be beautiful, but deadly. How can something so beautiful, be so deadly at the same exact moment? My glasses were fogging up a bit, and I could tell the winter cold of England was already going to appear today. Maybe coffee with Liam would be nice, after all.

*A few hours later*

After my morning dose of sunlight and a cup of tea, I realized I had to get ready for my coffee session with Liam. I am not the one to dress, normally I would wear khakis or jeans, with a light beanie and a regular t-shirt or polo. Today, I felt different. I put on a pair of tight blue skinny jeans, some combat boots, and a flannel. My grey beanie fitting quite nicely on my hair and my glasses fitting my face extra tightly today. I smile and walk out into the cold winter air, wondering when this cold would stop.

I drove for at least an hour, the outskirts of London appearing in my rear view. I pull into a small shop, and I climb out of my car and hurry inside so I don't catch frostbite anytime too soon. I laugh at own joke and sit down, a waitress about half the size of me comes over towards me.

"Hi. My name is Jaylee, and I'll be your server today. What can I get you?"

I look up. "Black tea, please." I sit and wait, watching the door and waiting for Liam to arrive.

She comes back with my tea and I say a simple 'Thank you' as she scurries away. I smile as I take a sip, and I start to read 'Pride and Prejudice' as to Liam's request. I sit there and take occasional sips, but not too many so I don't burn my mouth. I smile as I reach the part when Elizabeth refuses repeatedly to marry. Just as I turned the page, in walked Liam, and I put my book down, watching him sit down.

"So. I thought this book didn't spark your interests." He mocks me slightly, and I just shrug it off.

"Hey, what can I say? It is a good book, after all. This is my third time reading this, actually." I watch his lips form into a smirk.

"Hm, it looks like you've been lying through your emails, then. So, where are you at?" He raises his hand swiftly for a waitress to come over to him so he could order his tea and/or coffee.

"Well, I just got to the part about Eliza-"

"Elizabeth refuses to marry Mr. Collins? I am way past that part, my friend. You should be farther ahead, Mr. I-Know-Everything-About-Pride-And-Prejudice." He laughs. "I definitely thought that you would be farther ahead."

I shift in my seat slightly.

"Well, I am not." I smile and chuckle softly.

"War. War is such a simple thing. The simplicity of it has made me want to join, but to keep my innocence and stay with my mum."

"Speaking of mum's, how is yours doing?"

"She's good, I guess. Her heart is still almost ready to stop, and my dad really isn't helping any matters to be better. I think she is close to dying, but we don't really know just yet." He looks down. "I haven't found any medical professionals to come to the house because nobody does that anymore." He sighs and I almost tear up.

"Liam, I think she will hold out for a while. You never know, whilst you are here, talking with me, she could be better by the moment. You must look on the bright side, alright?" I look at him as he stirs his coffee that had just come out of the back room.

"Alright?" I repeat and he just shrugs, and I sigh and breathe out.

"Alright.." I sigh and look at my copy of Pride and Prejudice.

Thank you so much. I get my inspiration from another story, so the credit goes all to her. This is all my story, but the inspiration she gave me, consider her the author, in a weird way. Haha. But thank you so much! I enjoy writing for the purpose of writing. It makes me happy. I will make sure to write soon!
