The Law of The Jungle

"Higher Ash! Higher!" I squealed
He laughed and continued to push me on the swings. I swung my little 6 year old legs back and forth, trying to get higher. The height I was attempting was impossible, but then again I was only 6.
I felt the swing come out from underneath me and I landed in the woodchips. I sat up and laughed.

Ashton's jaw was dropped and he immediately came over.
"Are you alright?" He asked, taking my arms and looking me over for any cuts.
"I'm fine," I told him.
"Are you sure?" He looked up at me with nothing but concern in his eyes.
"Yes silly!" I giggled, "I promise!"




When I woke up, it was warm and comfortable. I peeked my eyes open and noticed that I was in Ashton's room. Actually, I was I his bed. I sat up and felt something cold slide against my skin. I gasped and looked around but I couldn't see anything. When I leant forward the metal chain swung into vision.

Well that explains it. I laughed softly at my stupidity and took it in my hands. It was just a simple silver chain. I stared down at it for a moment. His would this get around my neck? Then I realized that this was also, indeed one of Ashton's belongings. He always wore this silver chain around his neck. I never questioned it.

But why would he give it to me? That part still made no sense to me.
I stood up and decided to go find him. Once I left his bed, I felt cold again. I heard the tv on, so I followed the sound. He was downstairs in the livingroom. He seemed to have sensed me immediately.

"You're up," he gave a small smile, "how do you feel?"
"Cold," I frowned.
"Come sit then," he gestured.
I nodded and sat down, leaning my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around my waist and I immediately felt warm.

"Hey Ashton?" I asked softly.
"Hmm?" He hummed looking down at me.
"How did you know to come back?" I asked, "you know, after you dropped me off,"
He thought for a moment, "there's a lot of things that you don't know Elle,"
"Why didn't you tell me then?" I frowned.

"Because you wouldn't have understood it all before," he answered.
"What about now?" I eyed him hopefully.
He sighed and nodded, "you can't just jump to conclusions though. You need to listen to the entire story,"
"Yeah," I agreed.

He turnt the TV off, leaving us in silence.
"C'mon Ash, just say it. It can't be that bad," I assured.
He laughed, "I dunno, it's a little weird,"
"I wanna know!" I whined leaning my hands on his shoulders and shaking them.
"Fine," he muttered, "I'm a werewolf...?"

It came out more like a question. I stared at him for a moment.

"Is this because of that book we have to read in class?" I frowned, "cause if you're teasing me then its not funny,"
"I'm not teasing you," he sighed, "I'm telling the truth,"
"That makes no sense," I mumbled.
"Yes it does," he explained, "how I knew you were in trouble, how Calum Luke and Michael all knew. And you saw me, in the woods. On your birthday,"

"That-that was you?" My jaw dropped.
He nodded, "yes,"

There was no way he would've known that. I did not tell a single soul.

"Well how does one become a werewolf? Can I be a werewolf?" I asked, "cause I think that'd be kinda cool,"
He snorted, "no, only boys can be werewolves. And you can't just become one, you're a werewolf since birth,"
"How did you keep this a secret since we were little?" I tilted my head to the side.
"I dunno, I just did." He shrugged.
"But still, I don't get how you would know that i was in trouble," I tilted my head to the side.

"That's the other half," he said, "I may have left out a tinsy little detail,"
"What?" I groaned.
"You're my imprint," he admitted shamelessly.

I blushed. I knew what that was, I'd watched twighlight with my friends when I was younger.

"Me?"

He nodded, "yes. I knew because I can read your feelings, and your thoughts."
"You can read my thoughts?" I whined
He laughed, "yeah, it's pretty funny,"
"What am I thinking of?

Tacos.

"Tacos and how you hope that I can't read your mind," he grinned.

"Damn," I huffed, "that's weird,"
"This whole thing is weird," he pointed out.
I huffed, "all this thinking is exhausting,"

"Then go to sleep," he told me.
"I'll never be able to fall back asleep, I just woke up," i muttered.
"Come here," he coaxed gently.

His arms were open and inviting, so I climbed onto his lap and laid my head on his chest. He hummed and wrapped his arms around me. His touch instantly calmed me. I could feel sleep coming quickly. I closed my eyes and my mind went blank.

"I love you," he whispered, thinking I had already fallen asleep, "more than anything,"

Hi! So today was a really good day. You know that essay I cried over? Well I got a 95 on it! And my team won their states game and advanced! So woo! Also grades close tomorrow and I have all A's which was hella work but worth it:)

anyway, ah, I thought I'd grace you all with a chapter. I usually update what's most popular at the moment, but ill probably update BEL tomorrow at so e point. Also, I'm trying to work out a chapter for Spectrum but having trouble.

meh.
