Behind Enemy Lines

"Who stabbed you?" She asked after cleaning up the supplies.
"Ryder," He muttered, "He never fights fair, he always has to bring some sort of weapon,"
Hayley sighed, "I'm sorry Cal,"
"Why are you sorry?"
"It's my fault that you got stabbed," She frowned.
"No its not," He snorted.

"You guys wouldnt have been fighting if it werent for me." She pointed out.
"Actually we've always hated eachother," Calum explained, "We've fought before,"
"It's still my fault," She muttered with a sigh.

Ashton came in, "Sorry kid, but we gotta head home,"
She grimaced and nodded. Calum wasn't pleased by this.
"What do you mean?" He squirmed.

"I'm taking her home with me Calum," Ashton repeated calmly.
"Are you crazy?" Calum rose an eyebrow.
"I don't know what else you want me to do," Ashton defended, "we can't just hide from my father,"
"You guys can't go back-" Calum argued
"Calum," Hayley poked him, "it's alrightp,"

He sighed, "no it's not,"
"Yes, I'll be fine," she gave him a reassuring smile, "I'll see you soon alright?"
He hugged her, not wanting to let go ever. She smiled and buried her head into his chest one last time before she had to leave. Ashton sighed. He didn't know what else to do. It'd only be worse if they ran.

"Where do you think you're going young lady?!" Stephen snarled.
Hayley cringed and turned. She had tried to retreat up to her room, but she hadn't been quick enough.
"Come back here," he ordered.

She approached him with her head hung. She peeked up at him sheepishly.
"What's this I hear of you hanging out with Andrew Hood's son?" He asked tapping his foot.
Hayley shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about,"
He slapped her, "don't you dare lie to me,"
She bit her lip, "I've talked to him,"

"I cannot believe this! Do you know what kind of trouble you're getting into?! His kind are not trustworthy! They'll turn around and stab you in the back!" He cried
"You don't know that," Hayley muttered before quickly covering her mouth in shock.

Oops.

"You're defending him?" Stephen questioned, "whose side are you on?"
"Y-yours," Hayley stuttered.
"I don't believe you," Stephen spat, "and to think, my own flesh and blood, turning on me like this!? You're no better than the dirt on the ground!"

Hayley looked down in shame. Boy was he really playing this guilt card.

"You're not talking to him, ever again," Stephen told her, "this is not getting on the way of my plans. You're going to marry Ryder as soon as you graduate,"
"Dad," Hayley sniffled, "please tell me you're joking,"

"I'm not," he growled, "I need to secure this gang. You're just going to have to live with it,"

"I hate you," Hayley mumbled, "I hate you so much,"

"I don't care if you hate me, you still have no choice," Stephen said, "and I wouldn't try to disobey the rules again, or your little friend is gonna be dead."
Hayley gulped and nodded.
