Behind Enemy Lines
Marked
Wake up," Ashton mumbled, "you have to go to school,"
Hayley groaned and stirred. She ended up hitting Gabby, who had fallen asleep right next to her, on Ashton's bed.
"Ow," she whined
Hayley peeked an eye open and laughed, "Ooopsies,"
Ashton yawned and stretched, "get ready guys, I'll drive you,"
Gabby and Hayley were both still in school. Hayley was a junior, (3/4 year of highschool for any non american) but Gabby was a senior (4/4 year of highschool).
She was eighteen, and she'd be turning 19 in the summer.
Hayley rolled off of his bed and went to her room to get ready. She passed her fathers bedroom, but the sheets were already made up again. He must have left a while ago.
She changed into a tshirt and a pair of jean shorts. The school wasn't too strict about their dress code, and it could get pretty hot in those classrooms. She fishtailed her hair and decided she was ready to go.
"Ready kid?" Gabby peeked her head in.
"Yeah," Hayley nodded, taking in her appearance.
She had taken a similar route with the shorts and tshirt, and her strawberry blonde hair was tied up in a high ponytail with a frenchbraid headband.
"You look cute," Hayley giggled.
"So do you," she smiled with a wink.

"You look excited," Hayley laughed, spotting her friend Jackie.
She was sitting in a chair next to Luke, her boyfriend, leaning her head on his shoulder with a tired look in her eyes.
"It's a Monday," she huffed, "I hate Mondays,"
"Same here," gabby yawned, laying her head on the table.
Luke rolled his eyes playfully. Hayley giggled at him.
Jackie was another of Hayley's best friends. They met in kindergarten and immediately became friends because they had the same shoes.
Luke was actually in her fathers gang as well. He was the son of yet another family friend, but not like Ryder was. He also hung out with Ashton a lot. Hayley and Luke had a good relationship too, he was a good friend.
Hayley was actually a little excited about today, because it meant that she had the chance to see Calum. He hadnt strayed from her thoughts since she saw him Saturday night. He was obviously a senior, which meant Gabby had him in some of her classes. But just as Hayley had been told, she was to pay him no mind.
The bell rang and there was still no sign of Calum. She sighed and grabbed her things, heading up the stairs.
~*~
Calum watched Hayley from down the hallway. She was being her usual self, doing whatever she pleased and not caring if the other students didn't like it. Today, she did this by running down the hallways with her friend Jackie, holding onto her backpack.
"Mush!" Jackie ordered prodding her along. Hayley errupted into giggles and charge on, dragging her friend right behind her. Jackie seemed to be having fun as she was giggling right along.
Calum was always interested in her. School was not a fun place by any means, but she made it fun for herself. He had noticed it through the years. He also noticed that she was one of the most well liked girl in the school. She was always smiling and would greet people as they passed in the hallway. And she was rarely mean either. No one had anything bad to hold against her, besides the fact that her father was a gang leader. But most people had gotten over it.
The girls fun was ended when Ryder appeared.
"What?" Hayley asked, irritation clear on her features.
"I didn't get to see you before I left yesterday," he stated.
She rolled her eyes, "I think you'll get over it,"
"I'd watch what I said if I were you," he growled, "Ashton isn't here to save you this time,"
"Go on, hit me again," she smirked, "do it infront of all these people, I dare you,"
He clenched his fist, knowing he couldn't get away with it in such a public place, "you're asking for it now,"
Jackie looked around, this was escalating quickly. Luke had to be somewhere close by.
Calum wanted to bad to go over and intervene himself, but he knew he couldn't. Ryder would figure out something was up between them and tell Stephen.
Next to him, Michael was watching on.
"Man she's really givin it to him," he snickered, "I'd hate to imagine what hell do to her as soon as they're not in public,"
Calum tensed, he hadn't told Michael about the ordeal. All he knew was that there was a blonde girl who had been taken to the hideout, but he didn't know it was Hayley. And he didn't know that Calum took her home that night.
"Get to class everyone!" The teacher hollered,
The small number of students in the hall dispersed and Hayley had escapes the clutches of Ryder, even if it was for just a little while.

The next day
Calum had been waiting for the chance to talk to her. He needed to make sure she was okay. All those
years, he had tried to ignore her. But since the day he first saw the tiny 5 year old girl, he liked her. He kept his distance however, because surely she would pay him no attention, It's not like he had a chance.
She, however, kept her distance because it's what she had been told. His father never told him to stay away from her, Calum just chose to.
He found her by her locker, trying to get her things before she went to the cafeteria for lunch.
"Hey, uh are you alright?" He asked softly.
She sighed, "I could be better,"
"Your dad hasn't yelled at you has he?" Calum frowned.
"No, it's just this whole thing you know? It's been 3 days and I'm already tired of it all," she told him.
He nodded and she grabbed a textbook, resting it on her arms. Her face screwed up in pain.
"What's wrong?" He asked concernedly.
"Nothing," she tried to play off.
He eyed her skeptically, "yeah right,"
"It's nothing," she assured him.
"Let me see your wrists," he ordered.
"I'm fine Calum," she told him, "please don't,"
He sighed and took her wrist, rolling the sleeve up. He immeidately saw red marked up and down them. When he looked back up she looked like she was ready to burst Into tears.
He took her to the closet so they could be alone.
"Hayley what did you do?" He asked
"I didn't do it," she sobbed, "he did,"
"Ryder cut your wrists?" Calum rose an eyebrow.
"Y-yes, he said that it was to show that I was his," she cried, pulling her hands away to cover her face.
"Does your dad know?" Calum asked
"Yes," she cried, "but he doesn't care, he told Ryder he could do whatever he wanted with me,"
Calum was pissed now. But just as he was going to leave and find the culprit, he saw the look in her eyes. She was desperate. He pulled her into a hug.
He decided that for the moment, it were best for him to calm down. Being angry wouldn't help her.
He sighed, "look at me Hayley,"
She peeked up at him shyly.
"You're going to get through this," he told her.
"No-" she started to tear up again.
"Shhhh," he hushed, "relax princess. Just trust me,"
