Behind Enemy Lines

Hayley couldn't feel anything for the next weeks. She attended her fathers funeral and burial, but she didn't say a word. All she did was stare forward with a sad look in her eyes. But she didn't shed a single tear. She couldn't. She did not miss her father, he only hurt her.

She felt freed partly, but there was still a dark cloud hanging over her head everywhere she went. Calum was worried. She seemed depressed to him. She did not say much, she did not do much, she just sat there staring ahead.

She was worried about Ashton. He had survived through the week, much to the surprise of the doctors. But he had made no progress otherwise. It was getting to the point where the doctors wanted to pull the plug and just end it. But gabby would not go down without a fight. She refused to just let Ashton slip through her fingers. He fought for her and she was going to fight for him just the same.

Hayley visited him everyday. She would just go and sit in his room for hours and hours upon end with Gabby. She wouldn't say anything to him or her, she'd just stare at his unconscious body. He had been lying in the same position for what seemed like ages, with the wires and needles all in him. If they were taken out, he'd surely die. That's when she realized how delicate life was.

She wanted so badly for him to wake up, but he wouldn't.

"Hey," Calum greeted softly, "how're you feeling?"
She didn't respond. He knew she was slowly deteriorating on the inside. It showed through. Her skin was pale, her eyes were not bright, her hair was not its usual shiny blonde. He sighed.
"Please, just say something," he begged, "I know it's been rough, but were going to get through this, I'm
here for you,"

She turned slowly and looked up at him.
Her voice came out smaller than a peep, "I know,"
He was relieved, "Thank god,"

He hugged her so tight. She stood limply in his arms.
"I'm so worried about you princess," he sighed, "please, just let me help you."
"I'm just sad," she shrugged

He tilted her chin up, "is it because you miss Ashton?"
She nodded, "he was so funny, he always made me laugh when I was sad,"
Calum smiled, "he is funny. He's still alive you know, he's gonna pull through,"
"You don't know that," she whispered
'I don't, but we need to hope that he will. That's all we can do,"

After spending a couple more days inside, Calum made Hayley finally go out into the world again. Jackie Luz and Gabby had come and picked her up to go to the mall. They had missed the first months of the pregnancy, but they were not missing any more. They were going to be the best aunties ever.

"We can look at some baby clothes yeah?" Luz said softly.
Hayley nodded slowly. She was still having trouble coping, so everyone was tiptoeing around her. They were scared that she'd be set off by the littlest thing.
"It'll get your mind of things," Jackie smiled, giving her hand a squeeze, "you know it's only a little more than a month left,"

"And then there's gonna be a little you running around!" Luz giggled, "well 2 little yous!"
Hayley managed a small smile at the thought. She had spent the last months imagining how this would all play out. She knew that they would be good parents. But mostly she couldnt wait to finally meet them. She was still in awe of the fact that she and Calum made them. They made human beings. It was so weird.

They arrived at the mall and she was immediately dragged around by all of them. They were gawking and squealing at all the little clothes and baby items. Jackie held up the little outfits with a giggle.
"I'm so excited for these children," Luz told Hayley, "they are going to be dressed so well,"
"Me too," Hayley nodded.

She sighed contently. Sure, this was complete and utter chaos. All of it. But somehow, it seemed like a happy chaos. Ashton was going to pull through, she knew it in her heart. Meanwhile, she had to babies on the way. They needed to be her first priority. So she gave in and let the chaos ensue for the rest of the day.

And by the time she got home, baby clothes and all, she felt happier than she did when she left.

Notes

So I know this is kinda a filler, but I needed to tie up some loose ends before we near the end of the story! Sad I know. It's been a roller coaster and I had so much fun writing for you all!

however there will still be probably 3 or 4 more chapters so hold tight. I will probably not do a sequel for this, but I will probably do another bad boy for another guy in the band. Send me votes of who you'd like to see! And that will surely be coming soon:)
