"Why didn't I see it sooner?" Stephen sobbed
Ashton stood behind him, watching him crumble to pieces. He had been kneeling in front of Hayley's closed casket- the police never found the bodies, but both were determined dead. Ashton thought his dad was okay until he just started sobbing hysterically out of nowhere.
"My little girl," Stephen shook his head, "I'm so sorry,"
Ashton sighed and looked away. He couldn't bare to see this, even if he had started to dislike his father, this was too much for him to handle.
He spotted Ryder over in the corner of the wake room. There was a beautiful picture of Hayley hung up, and he was looking at it intensely. He sighed and hung his head, shoving his hands in his pockets.
Next was Luke Jackie and Gabby. Luke was sad, but he hadn't cried. He was holding Jackie who was. Even though they all knew that she was in fact alive, Jackie did miss her friend, and all of this just reminded her of it. Nonetheless it helped to sell the entire situation. Gabby wiped her eyes. She was upset as well.
Stephen had collected himself and stood up. Ashton frowned and patted his shoulder.
"Are you alright?"
"Eventually," he sighed.

"Come say hi princess," Calum gestured.
Hayley entered the bedroom and saw that Calum was skyping with Michael and Luz. She grinned and climbed on the bed so she could talk to them as well.
"Hi guys," she waved.
Luz grinned, "long time no see,"
Michael smiled and wrapped his arm around her.
"Are we wearing the same shirt?" Hayley laughed looking down at her superman shirt.
Luz looked down and giggled, "I think so,"
"Twinsies," Hayley told her.
Calum rolled his eyes playfully, "you're weird,"
"No im not," she whacked his side softly.
They talked for a while. Michael told them of everything that had happened in the month and a half they'd been gone. Things slowed down a bit for a couple weeks, because both gangs were mourning. But Ashton told Michael that Stephen was planning something big. He just didn't know yet. So soon enough, things would be bad.
Hayley sighed when they finally logged off of skype.
" I know it's hard," Calum whispered, giving her a hug, "but were gonna be happy here, I promise,"
"I know," she smiled and nodded assuringly.
1 year later
Things were amazing so far. They were living comfortably in a nice apartment near the city. Calum had risen to more power due to his cleverness and leadership. Hayley still worried. But that was the only thing he'd ever known. It was something she could never take out of him.
He was usually home more often than not. Most of the time, he was just out at night. Hayley didn't really have time to miss him then, because she was working. Not that she needed to, but she wasn't going to ask him for money and she wasn't going to just sit around all day. So she managed at a really nice restaurant in the city. She started out just doing smaller jobs, but like her boyfriend, she had earned promotions throughout the year they'd been here.
Since they worked at night, they spent most of their time together in the day. they'd sleep in most mornings. Then they did all sorts of things to pass time. Sometimes they'd just stay inside and watch movies or sometimes they'd go downtown and explore. It was a lot of fun. Looking back, Hayley was sure that she'd made the right decision.
Ashton even visited with Gabby once, a couple months ago. As far as Stephen knew, they were just taking a little vacation. It was nice to see them. Ashton was finally at peace with the whole thing. Once he saw just how they had handled themselves he knew that they were going to make it. Hayley had definitely grown up a lot, even if she still looked like the tiny girl he'd have to babysit when his dad wasn't home. Sure that was years and years ago, but Ashton still saw her like that.
And Ashton was proud of Calum too. Calum gave her more than their father did. She was happy, and she wasn't hungry or sick or anything bad. If anything, her smile had only become brighter. She was the Hayley she was before this whole mess. The one who rarely cried, the one who sang as she skipped through the house, the one who always had some sort of cheeky comeback. That was the Hayley he'd grown up with.
Today was unusual. Calum had been called off to work for a couple hours today. This meant that Hayley would be home alone for a little. She woke up, her stomach swirling nauseously. She groaned and sat up, seeing Calum was not there. But he left a note.
In his scratchy handwriting, she read,
"Good morning princess, I had to go off for a little bit. I'll be back soon though:)
Xx Cal"
Her stomach swirled again and she grunted, getting up and stumbling into the bathroom where she got sick. She sat back on her calves for a moment before getting back to her feet. She grabbed her toothbrush and started to clean herself up.
After she couldn't taste the grossness in her mouth, she took a shower. The warm water felt good on her skin. She scrubbed herself, determined to get literally any trace off of her. When she was satisfied, she got out and dressed herself in her pajamas again.
She grabbed her phone and crawled back into bed, deciding to call one of her friends in New York, Hannah.
It rang for a moment before she picked up.
"Why are you calling me this early?" She whined without a hello.
"We've got a little problem," Hayley mumbled through a migraine.
"What is it?" She asked concernedly.
"I just got really sick," Hayley sighed, "and I think I might be pregnant,"
The line when silent.
Then she took a breath, "where is Calum?"
"He's working," she answered, "can you please come over, I'm scared,"
"Yeah, do you want me to pick up some tests?"
"Yes please," Hayley mumbled miserably.
"Relax, I'm sure everything will be fine either way." Hannah soothed, "I'll be over soon okay?"
"Mmhmm,"
A couple minutes later, Hannah arrived. She came in and helped Hayley get up becuase she was feeling dizzy again.
"Here," she handed her a test.
Hayley took it and they waited. Hannah had come in and sit on the sink because Hayley was starting to get anxious.
"I screwed up," Hayley sighed.
"No you did not," Hannah told her, "it takes two to tango,"
"Yeah, but It's still my fault," she mumbled.
"No," Hannah said sternly.
Hayley sucked in a breath.
"And anyways, If you aren't, then there's always later on. But if you are, then I'm sure that Calum would be happy. He loves you,"
"I know he does," she nodded, "were just really young,"
"You've made it this far already," she stated.
They waited in silence.
"Can you look" Hayley mumbled
Hannah nodded and stood up. She took the test and peered down at it.
"It's positive,"

8I Did you all see that coming? Because if you did then I totally understand cause I'm absolute trash at plot twists. Moving on, who's excited about this baby thing? Who's pissed? Boy or girl? Angry Calum or happy Calum?
i woke up super duper early to write this cause I have practice at 9 until god knows when. I hope you all like it and don't hate me for skipping ahead so much. I just couldn't wait any longer. I've been waiting since the beginning of this story!
OH AND I ALSO FUCKED UP! A couple chapters ago I said that he was 19 and she was 16, well I meant to put that she had turned 17 and he was still 18. Ooopsies, once again excuse me for being trash at this.
