Chapter 49

Over the next few days and into next week, Cameron and I have been cramming for exams that will start on Monday morning. I know Harry's hesitant about us studying, but he's been more lenient with the two of us meeting up to study. However, he still tries to dissuade me.

Monday morning Harry offers to drive me to school for no apparent reason. As soon as I get in his warm car, he fixes me with a look.

"What?" I ask, buckling my seat belt.

He chuckles. "Exams are today,"

"I know," I nod. Why is he bringing this up? I've been studying all night, I don't need any more stress.

"Not that," he smiles at my confusion, and it suddenly dawns on me. Since exams are here, there is no need to study with Cameron. I want to tell Harry that even though we're done studying for now, I'm still going to be seeing Cameron, but I don't want to get him started before exams.

"Good luck in Biology," he kisses me quickly when we reach my first period before jogging toward his class. I take a deep breath, adjust the strap of the bag on my shoulder, and walk
inside.

Since I'm one of the first ones in here, it gives me enough time to study without having any distractions. I take out my textbook and notes and lay them all out on the desk.

It feels like only seconds rather than twenty minutes when the bell rings and we begin our exam. I review the content in my head as the exam is passed out and set on the desk in front of me.

A smile crosses my face when I realize that most of the questions are the ones I studied. I quickly circle the correct answers and go over my work twice to make sure I haven't missed anything before turning it in to a smiling teacher.

"You can review for another class or read," Mr. Hazard informs me as he puts my exam in a folder. I walk back to my desk and take out my notes for French. I should have gotten Harry to help me with these instead of Cameron, but he was in such a bad mood that I didn't even bother.

The bell rings in another hour and I've just finished packing up my stuff when Cameron joins me.

"That was easy. Certainly not hard enough to spend three hours reviewing," he laughs as we walk out of class. I agree with him completely, I could have been focusing on other stuff rather than something that I already knew.

I wish Cameron good luck on his future exams as I walk to my locker. Harry is waiting beside it, his arms crossed as he watches me approach.

"How did your exams go?" I ask him, spinning the dial to open my locker. I grab the French textbook and exchange it with my biology stuff.

"I'm not sure," he shrugs and I stop short of unpacking my bag.

"What do you mean your not sure?"

"Well I didn't go to class," he says.

"Harry! You have to take your exams!" I'm cut off by his arms snaking around me and pulling me into him. His chest vibrates with laughter.

"I'm just kidding," he says in between laughs.

I try to pull away but he strengthens his grip and places his lips on mine. All the tension that has been building up for weeks disappears and my shoulders finally relax.

"Stop worrying. That crease in your forehead doesn't flatter you," he says and his thumb traces over the indention in my skin.

"We have to get to French," I say and unwrap his arms from around my waist. Harry frowns but nods and shuts my locker for me before following me toward the French classroom.

The French exam is certainly harder than I expected and I don't get finished until a few minutes before the bell ring. Harry, however, finished in thirty minutes and spent the rest of the time watching me have a quiet anxiety attack.

When the bell rings, I'm thankful to go to lunch. I need something to take my mind off of the stress. I grab a salad and a bottle of water from the line before sitting next to Harry. I know Anna will want me to sit with them but I don't feel like arguing with them today over how I'm not a normal teenager.

I smile when I see Eleanor sitting next to Louis, his long arm wrapped around her. She smiles when I take a seat and breaks apart from Louis to speak to me.

"Louis is throwing a New Years party and he wants you guys to come," her eyes motion back and forth between Harry and I.

"That would be great. I'm sure we can make it," I glance over at Harry who isn't paying us any attention. Good. I don't want him to hurt Eleanor's feelings by telling her no.

Lunch goes by quickly and soon Harry and I are handed the Stats exam. I take a deep breath, write my name at the top of the paper, and look down at the dozens of problems that I've been cramming for.

"Time," the teacher's voice interrupts me and I have to check the paper to remind myself that I finished a while ago and I'm not late. I hand her the paper and relax back in my chair, repeating over and over to myself that the exams for this semester are over.

Harry and I dart out of class when the bell rings and hurry over to his car that sits in the back of the parking lot. I climb into the cold car and wait for him to turn the heat up.

"Eleanor invited us to a New Years party," I speak up when he pulls out onto the main road.

He looks over at me. "And you want to go?" Sarcasm is clear in his voice and the sound of it irritates me.

"Yes, I want to go. I'm not the stingy girl you think I am," I bite back and he throws his hands up in defense. That came out harsher than I intended.

"Sorry," I add quickly, not meeting his eyes.

"I know you're not stingy. I was just messing with you," Harry laughs and his hand squeezes my thigh.

"I'm sorry. I guess the stress hasn't left me entirely." I sigh and look out the window.

Harry just chuckles and continues to drive me home. When we get there, some silent conversation passes through us and we both head up to my room without question. I open the white door leading to the room and let out a gasp of embarrassment.

"Oh my god!" I cover my mouth at the sight of papers scattered all throughout my room and the unmade bed that sits in the center of it all. I look over my shoulder to see Harry's eyes widened, just as surprised as I am. I'm scolding myself when I shut the door behind him and promise that I will be finished soon.

I go to work on the mess that I call my room, putting the papers neatly into a spare folder I have. I grab the sheets that are dishelved on my bed and tuck them back under the corners of the mattress, pulling the comforter up over that when everything's made. Satisfied at my quick work, I stand to open the door for Harry.

"Finished?" He smirks as walks in. I lay down on the bed and stretch out on my back, looking at the ceiling. The mattress dips beside me and Harry's chest is soon pressed against my back.

"I should take you to meet my sister," Harry's velvet like voice startles me and I prop myself up on my elbow to get a better look at him.

"What?" I knew he had a sister, he just never mentioned her. I just guessed that she was in England or living with their dad.

"She lives in Denver. We should go see her. She's been wanting to meet you ever since I mentioned you," he smiles at the mention of his sister.

"Yes! I would love to meet her!" I happily agree. Besides Anne, I haven't met any members of Harry's family. I know he doesn't want to introduce me to his father but it would be nice to meet someone who shared the same blood line.

"We'll leave a few days before Christmas," he takes out his phone to text her and I settle down into his chest, thriving in the warmth that he's giving off. My eyes droop and soon the distant sound of Harry's voice saying something fades away as I fall asleep.
