Collision

"Just make sure that you're safe." Anna tells me and I roll my eyes.

"We're not going to have sex, Anna." I tell her for what seems like the thousandth time. She shrugs and swirls her spoon around in her peas. Ever since I told her that Harry is coming over today, she has been pressuring me about 'being safe' with Harry.

"Who's having sex?" Luke says way too loudly and the people at the table beside us stare. I want to either hide or run, I haven't decided yet.

"Harry and Jess." Anna answers before I can and I can hear at least three gasps.

"You and Harry are seeing each other?" Eleanor asks as her, Luke, Cameron, and Liam join us at the table. They all stare at me expectantly and I take a deep breath before carefully explaining.

"We aren't seeing each, El." I assure her and she nods. "And," I say turning to the boys, "We aren't having sex."

"But he is coming over to your house." Anna butts in and I glare at her. I want to smack her but that would just cause more trouble.

"He's tutoring me in French. That's not exactly romantic." I say bluntly.

"Are you parents going to be there?" Cameron asks, sounding way more concerned than he needs to be.

"Yes," I roll my eyes at their excessive behavior. I shouldn't have mentioned it at all, then it would have been much easier and I could have avoided this whole conversation.

My eyes flicker over to the corner of the cafeteria and I see Harry sitting alone, waiting on his group of friends. An idea comes to mind and I stand up, collecting my things and tray.

"Where are you going?" Anna asks and looks up at me.

"I need to ask Harry something." I say and turn my back before I can hear their responses. I walk across the room and sit down next to Harry, surprising him.

"What are you doing here?" He asks with confusion in his voice.

"My friends were being overwhelming." I shrug and put my stuff into the seat beside me. I can feel their stares on me and when I look over there, each set of eyes are trained on us. I know they're all desperate to get to know the truth but it's getting irritating having to explain myself.

"Oh. But anyways, I can take you home after school today." He offers, startling me. "If you want to." he adds quickly and I smile at his nervousness.

"That would be great." I nod and his face relaxes. It's weird to see Harry being nervous, a huge change from his usual smug personality.

"I-" He's cut off by his friends surrounding us, all looking either confused or amused.

"Jess?" Louis asks as they all sit down. "Why are you over here?"

Harry glares at him and his mouth instantly shuts. Okay? Looking at all of them, I begin to feel uncomfortable. They all share tattoos and wear black clothing, but Harry doesn't make me uncomfortable as they do.

"I should get back to my friends." I say and grab my stuff quickly before anyone can protest. "It was nice seeing you." I tell his friends before hurrying back to my table.

"Please don't say anything." I silence their wondering stares and they all nod quickly. The only one who doesn't look remotely curious is Eleanor, who is quietly eating and trying not to say anything. Maybe I'm going to have to start hanging out with her more often.

"I was just messing with you," Anna bumps shoulders with me and I smile to relieve some of the tension. "I know you're not that way."

I nod and I welcome the conversation as it drifts towards the Halloween party. Lunch passes by in a breeze and before I know it I'm sitting down beside Harry in Stats.
