Dark hour
Chapter 3
“He’s not my boyfriend!” I tried to shout over the loud music but it seemed like they still haven’t understood what I said. They finally gave up on making small talk and went on the dance floor instead.
“Wanna go dance too?” I asked Harry then pointed at the dance floor. He leaned closer to my ear, which sent electricity down my spine. “Unless, you do.” He then winked and he knew he was going to get elbowed again so he moved away as fast as he could.
“Easy on the elbows. My hips hurt now.” I just rolled my eyes again at yet another effort in telling me that I’m small. We just stood there; with drinks in our hands, just watching the others try to forget the life outside this barn.
“Who’s that blonde dude?” I pointed over at where Blair was and looked up at Harry. He squinted his eyes a bit like he was trying to remember who he was. “I don’t know. I haven’t seen him in school.” He looked away, worriedness drawn all over his face.
“You sure?” Before he could answer, Lacie and Blair were already by our side. Blair was assisting Lacie since she got too drunk. “She’s so lightweight.” Blair was clearly annoyed as her night was just starting but she knew that she has to look out for us.
“I guess I’ll just text you tonight.” I waved at Harry and he nodded back. As we were walking away, I noticed that he made his way in the crowd towards where the blonde boy was before.
“A! Focus! She’s too heavy for me.” Lacie lost the ability to walk and talk properly so it took a huge effort from both Blair and I to get her to her car. “You have to work on your upper body strength, B.” I tried to tease her but she was too annoyed to even let out a chuckle.
I opened the door for Blair and then pulled Lacie’s legs up as Blair pushed her body in. After we got Lacie settled, I took the empty passenger seat in the front and buckled my seatbelt.
“You’ve been drinking, B. Are you sure you can drive? I can take over for you.” She waved her hand and started the engine. She was a faster driver than me and she always hated how I drive and in a night like this, I clearly don’t want to argue with her.
It took about a good ten minutes drive to get to Blair’s house; it was half of the time it took to get to the barn from my house, which was only a block away from Blair’s. We did the same process of carrying Lacie in Blair’s house: I took her legs, and Blair took her upper body.
“Guess you’ll just take care of Lacie. I can walk from here.” She nodded in response and I quickly grabbed my bag and headed out the door. As soon as I opened the door, I was instantly met with two white bright lights from a car.
“Blair, I think your parents are home.” I turned my back and shouted for Blair. As soon as I spun around to head on my way, I immediately felt two strong hands pushing me against the wall.
“Who are you?! Let go of me!” I tried to fight back but the moment I spun around he quickly hit my face causing me to fall down onto the pavement. After that, everything was a blur. I tried blinking my eyes to see more than bright lights and shadows but it took too much effort and I was already feeling light headed.
“Akira!” I heard voices arguing after someone called my name. It wasn’t Blair’s or Lacie’s but it was familiar. “Well, well, great to see you guys again reunited.”
