Keeping Isabelle
Five
Music was playing. I was in my room, but music was playing somewhere. I could hear the beat a drum and the stringing of a guitar.
Slowly, I opened my door and stepped out into the hallway. Trying to follow the now fading music, I hurried down the stairs. I looked through the kitchen, and the dining room, but found nothing.
And then the song ended.
But, a new, prettier, slower song came on. I found a hallway I'd never explored before and put my ear up against every door I saw. At about the fifth door, I heard the song through it.
The song was beautiful, played by only a piano of some sort. It was one you could dance the night away to.
Suddenly, the door opened, revealing Harry, staring down at me. The music was still playing, but I could see a piano behind him in the room.
Harry smiled, grabbing my hand, and pulled me in. "Would you like to dance?"
"I haven't the slightest idea how," I spoke honestly, my face heating up. Harry's grin widened.
"Perfect."
Harry took my arms, wrapping them around his neck. "Clasp your hands together, and stand on your tippy toes, since you're so short." He winked a friendly wink.
Harry wrapped his huge hands around my waist, and started to lead me. "Just follow me," he said, widening his eyes. I nodded, but I couldn't take my eyes off his own.
Harry held my hand above my head. "Spin." I did as he said, doing a complete 360, and was about to fall, but he caught me and brought back up, putting his hand back on my waist.
"I guess you have two left feet," he said after the song ended, stepping away from me.
"I've never been taught to dance before," I said. I shook my head. "Obviously." Harry laughed, but I could tell it was half-hearted.
"Um, so you play piano?" I looked at the grand thing. It was polished black, and was so beautiful. Harry nodding, smiling distantly like he was remembering an old memory.
"Yes, it's my favorite hobby." I nodded.
"Who was just playing, just then?"
"It was some music I had recorded when I was young," Harry said, then squinted. "I was better then, I suppose."
