It was 6:00 am when I woke up from a horrible nightmare so I went to the kitchen for some water. I was wearing only a big t-shirt, with sleepy steps I crossed the living room and entered to the kitchen, I can´t describe how loud my scream sounded, because I totally forgot that Niall had stayed at our flat so when I saw him sitting at the table I was sacred to death, thanks god Ethel needs an industrial tractor to wake up.
He was really surprised by my scream and he almost dropped his tea mug. "Oh my god!, you scared me!" I said with a little bit of embarrasment and trying to cover my legs. He looked at me from head to feet with a little smirk on his face, I didn´t know if he was laughing about my tights but I felt worst. "Sorry, I couldn´t sleep so I came to make some tea, would you like some?" I couldn´t believe this.. he was being polite, this took me by surprise so I mumbled "ye-yeah thanks" he poured some tea in another mug and then took his seat again, I sat on the other chair, we stayed on silence until he said "I´m sorry for last night, but look I really have my reasons" HE WAS ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS I was amazed so I stretched my arm until I was touching his shoulder and added "I know you are going through a rough moment" he looked at me but whe he was about to say something we just hearad Ethel´s voice singing "On my own pretending he´s besides me.." she was singing that song again, when she looked at us she just stayed at the door frame and said "O-oo hey". Niall just looked at her, then at me and said "I better be going, I´m already late so.." he got and left his mug and started walking towards the door, I was really confused it was like talking to two different persons, I stood up too and followed him staring at Ethel with a death look, I opened the door and he just left without saying a word.
"So what were you two talking about?" Ethel said with a mischievous look I couldn´t help it but laugh and added with a more serious tone "He was asking for forgiveness and he was about to tell me something important but you had to came with your Éponine´s solo" she just laughed and said "I´m sorry! but you know it´s my anthem" Ok I had to admit it I had the best friend in the world.
Acording to the schedule that Craig had given me, today I was supposed to spend the day with Niall but we were going to meet at Nando´s, so I took a shower and asked Ethel to drive me to the restaurant, she obviously accepted and at 2:30 pm we were ready to go out of the flat but when we were just opening the building entrance we were suddenly trapped by loads of paparazzi, the flashes were leaving me and Ethel blind and all i could hear was questions about last night, drunk Niall and if I was Niall´s new girlfriend. I´m sure Ethel was going to kill me after this "Emma!" my friend shouted I looked at her and se was streching her hand and searching for mine, I took her and and she dragged me all the way to her car.
When we were safe I started saying "I´m reall-" "Shhh, jut shut up" she interrupted me and added "Don´t even try to say sorry because you know that I have told you that we are both in this, I here to look after you because I know you would do the same for me don´t you?" I just aswered "Of course I´m your best mate, I would do anything for you" "Right" she said "Now let´s drive you to Nando´s to meet with that boy"
We arrived and I said "Bye" to Ethel I wanted her to stay with me but that was impossible, I had to run to enter to the restaurant, all againg because of the cameras.
Niall was already inside so he greeted me with a kiss on the cheek and said "Ready for the first date, remember we are only friends" I didn´t know what it was but there was something really different in his attitude, maybe he was grateful. We ordered our food and I would be lying if I said that that "date" was the worst in my life, I enjoyed we were just acting natural and just like friends, I wanted it to last.
After the meal and some talking about his carreer, the tour and my school we left Nando´s without holding hands because we were at the friends phase.Soon another wave of paparazzis were mobbing us and we just smiled. He left me at my house and when I opened the door Ethel just stared at me and said "OK? so now you like that guy?" I didn´t notice but I was smiling like a fool and answered "No, he´s just cool".
And I really thought that we were getting along really well, maybe we really could be friends.
